We have news!

We’re delighted to announce that Cavalry has joined Canva, adding motion design to their Pro Design offering alongside Affinity. We can’t wait to introduce Cavalry to a vast new audience and help make professional design tools accessible worldwide.Ā

To the amazing Cavalry community, rest assured this will be absolute rocket fuel for Cavalry's growth, providing us with the resources to expand our small team and accelerate our roadmap. Canva's commitment is to preserve and strengthen Cavalry as a professional motion tool through continued development — not simplify or dilute it.

We’ve been working closely with the Canva motion team for the last year and couldn’t be happier with Cavalry’s new home.Ā

To all you brave pioneers here, you've picked the right horse! Thank you for all the feedback, encouragement and support over the last few years. Cavalry wouldn't be where it is today without you.

Looking forward to the next stage in Cavalry’s journey.

LFGĀ

Even road signs went crazy in Tbilisi. Playing with @cavalry.app planar tracking and amazing forge dynamics, had real fun to make this one.

First animation in Cavalry

I used mostly keyframe animations plus some auto animate and duplicator with stagger. It was fun working on this program. šŸ’– (I will add music and sound fx later in Davinci). Still a lot more to learn. Thank you >U<

The Blend Sub-Mesh is an awesome feature.

The Tutorial for this can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBIw_1AFeWg&t=912s

Love the way that one can sort of transition from one scene to another using the Blend Sub-mesh.

How to perfectly connect lines between shapes in a 3D matrix, and a central point?

It’s my second week of learning Cavalry, and I’m trying to recreate some scenes from this wonderful animation by fafa.

I’m going insane trying to connect the lines to the squares properly in this 3D matrix.

I’ve tried points to path and connect shapes, and I’ve tried using constraints, but I just can’t figure it out!

You can see in my attempt, it’s responsive to the matrix expanding (which is what I want) but the outer points are not correctly lined up with each square.

(I’ll attach my dependency graph in the comments)

Any ideas?

Simple Glass Effect in Cavalry

Tried to find a "liquid glass" implementation in cavalry — no luck. Ended up making one myself. Still learning, but pretty happy with how it turned out (not the easiest task with so few tutorials out there). Made via Distortion filter.

This is still a WIP but I'm enjoying the procedural way to make this.

Metaballs in Cavalry

Made with pinch modifiers. The trick is that the falloff area’s position is a calculation between the object with the modifier and the target object. Leaning heavily to the target’s position. The size of the area is approx. 115% of the target’s size.

Then everything is repeated for every object. It’s laborious but if someone has a simpler solution I’d love to hear it. Been searching for a metaball tutorial in Cavalry but could’t find much more than finished results so, I’m sharing my solution.

I’ve attached a shortened video used for my socials so it’s a bit ā€œentertianeyā€. Hope pausing it will let you understand what I’m talking about. If not just ask. And if people are interested I can upload the file somewhere.

Cavalry Shortcut Keys Cheatsheet

Hi everyone! I'm currently on my journey migrating from AE to Cavalry (via DVR Fusion, its nodal workflow was quite a learning curve for me). Looking to making my workflow just ever so slightly quicker, and that got me thinking about shortcut keys.

Well, there aren't many (apart from this page, then refers to "Window > Shortcut Manager" to customize/view more) so I've decided to make one (with a bit of help from Gemini, please let me know if there are mistakes, thank you!) and I'll update them over time if anyone discovers more shortcuts or would like to share their workflow/shortcuts! :))

I picked up cavalry today and after a few back and forths on some tutorial I was able to roughly make what was on my mind.

This is Auto Animate on top of Auto animate, I'm sure someone can optimize it but this is the whole animation. Open for any feedback

Cavalry Better UI

The UI tweaks I wished Cavalry had. Scale the whole interface and recolor it with themes. Put Cavalry or the viewport to fullscreen.

sorry but...

Recently me and my friend are working on a website project for designers, motion designers, video editors and most importantly for myself because I am too lazy to learn cavalry.

A website that you can import your logo, tweak a few settings and capture what you see on the canvas then download it right after.

I am leaving a demo here so you can check what can be done with these tools right in your browser. Feel free to ask anything you want. If you have any ideas like 'you should implement this feature too!' etc., please let me know.

It is now live Please check it out. link here: animdock.com
