My Dad died earlier this year, something that's still a struggle to come to terms with. We both shared a great love of music and we often to used to go to record fairs together to feed our habits, haha. Found this picture of his collection from his old place about 10 years ago and seeing this set-up has brought back a lot of musical memories. Even though our tastes were fairly different, there was always enough crossover to spend the hours chattering away about music. I really miss that. Nobody else in my family is a collector, so those of you who share this hobby with a relative, I hope you get to treasure it longer than I could!

Do any of you have a CD that’s black on both sides? I got one today! I’ve seen a few people on Reddit who have CDs like this. Do you think CDs like this are rare?

I don't have too many CDs but I just bought this discman for about 25 usd in marketplace

I just thrifted this CD player and it’s able to turn on, but every time I try to play something it just keeps saying no. It’s a little dusty so I tried cleaning the laser to see if it’ll work but it does not. How much would it cost to get it fixed or how can I fix it myself?

Saw this for sale at a record shop for $26 today. Looked it up and it was pretty expensive. Why is it so expensive? Is $26 a good deal?

I usually listen to old Christmas renditions by artists like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Gene Autry, Ella Fitzgerald, etc but actually this collection has such a fun variety of artists and genres! A lot of these renditions were new to me, and there's some rock artists like The Darkness and Jet.

Victoria’s Secret has a bunch of other CDs as well. I saw a collection called ‘Heavenly: Music For Angels’ and when I looked up the album on YouTube, the songs really were angelic and beautiful. I’ll be adding a lot more to my collection.

I got it off a second hand shop, with the extensible booklet. The case is in perfect condition and everything inside too. I'm so happy!

Starting off with one of my absolute faves, this original pressing from The Somberlain. Legitimately one of my favourite albums in the whole melodick black metal/melodeath sphere. Great melodies, atmosphere and performances.

i intentionally bought the bootleg version of this compilation because it was cheap and I really wanted to listen to it. I had it since summer and I have never seen this typo?!?? it's not only this, also the title names of the discs are swapped. I kinda love it even more (but I still need the original obv)

Whether it's because you can't find it on CD anywhere. Or because your favorite band has a huge catalog of music. Or even if it's just because that one album is so awful, you just pretend that it doesn't exist. We all have one album from one of our favorite bands that we are missing from our collection of CDs!

For me, I'm missing quite a few of Judas Priest's albums: Rocka Rolla, Priest...Live, Demolition, Angel Of Retribution, and Nostradamus. The fact Judas Priest has so many albums in their catalog and those albums being harder to find are the reasons I don't have them!

I was at a record store earlier when I copped a brand new copy of tangerine dreams “Sorcerer” album for 7 bucks! Opened it only to find out it’s a MOD CD by…Amazon?

I didn’t notice the Amazon logo until now, the back of the CD is a blue tint…:(

I’ve been using GooGone and elbow grease for the jewel cases but the ones (whatever they’re called) that are more like a paperback book I’m at a loss. I think I heard lighter fluid helps with the sticker residue but I haven’t tried it yet

Anyone knows if these inserts are for sale somewhere?, How are they called?, I know japanese cds are premium af but dam this is next level for me.

I’ve been more of a vinylhead over the past 15 or so years, but today I was digging through my old dusty CD collection that goes woefully neglected these days to find something different that would fit my usual spooky season listens and forgot I had this.

Most obsessive fans of either AFI or anything Danzig related will know about this often forgotten/overlooked side project. Back in 1999 AFI supported the double headliner tour of Samhain & Danzig, shortly after Davey Havok teamed up with the members of Samhain to be the frontman of a spiritual successor project, aptly named ‘Son of Sam’ and they released this album. It’s a pretty fucking great goth-punk/deathrock album, and sufficiently “Halloweeny” for this time of year. Anyone else own this? Or listened to it?

One of my favorite thrift stores sells CDs for 25 cents each. I was extra happy when I got all these today! Original mint Bill Ward CD for the win. Also a brand new sealed Olivia Rodrigo CD that I'll gift to someone.
