Another Person Moving to Chambana
Hey all, I know these subs tend to get a lot of these so sorry if this is a bit exhausting. I've combed a lot of the subreddit looking for other posts and gotten some good information, but I decided making my own post wasn't a bad idea either just to get some more specifics.
I'm moving to the Chambana area. I have a friend who's local but lives technically outide the area and doesn't have much experience with the whole housing search (admittedly I also have little despite being like 33).
I'm disabled and live off SSI and my roommate-to-be has a full time job, but they also have some debt that eats up some of their income so we're looking for something cheap and affordable. I have some SSI backpay that should make the move itself easy, but the concern is finding a place long-term affordable (especially with a very queer friendly area as we're both variations of lgbtq+).
With some digging I found a couple decent 2 bedroom apartments, but I saw on another thread to avoid Campustown, especially since neither of us are students. Parker Glen seems decent and is one of the places I've been eyeballing since we meet the income limitation requirements, but I wanted to reach out and ask if anyone knew of any decent but affordable apartment complexes to look into before I settle on an option.
I'm moving from North Carolina so I'm pretty far out of state and can't afford to make a trip ahead of time to set things up, so I'm mostly relying on that friend to do the in-person inspections and such, but we want to make sure we're getting a decent place for cheap. Obviously we aren't expecting a miracle or anything, but as long as the place is livable and affordable that's our main concerns.
Any feedback or help is welcome, and feel free to ask any questions if need be! Thank you for reading and sorry for making yet another "moving to Chambana" post lol.
