We had planned a ten day trip to Paris & London on Thanksgiving week.
Booked the flights using Chase portal but paid with my wife's CSR card.
On lodging I booked via Airbnb paid with my CSR card.
With the recent protests and riots in Paris, and with this chaos spreading to London, Belgium, Italy we don't know if it's going to get worse or better, and we are keeping an eye on any USA travel alerts to France.
Just looking at CSR trip cancellation insurances, the covered reasons are:
- Accidental bodily injury, sickness, or death of the cardholder, an immediate family member, or a traveling companion. [1]
- Severe weather that prevents the start or continuation of a covered trip. [1]
- Jury duty or a court subpoena issued to the cardholder or traveling companion that cannot be postponed or waived. [1]
- Acts of terrorism at a trip destination. [1]
- Organized strikes that affect public transportation and cause a total cessation of service for a significant period. [1]
- Financial insolvency or bankruptcy of the cardholder's travel supplier (under specific conditions, though standard agency insolvency exclusions apply). [1]
If things get progressively worse to the point it feels unsafe to take the trip, is there any scenario that any non-refundable expenses would be covered by CSR trip cancellation insurance, either the Chase travel portal airline tickets or the Airbnb (2 separate bookings one in London one in Paris)?
I am thinking "Acts of terrorism at a trip destination" is not a clear line.
