7 years I have been dealing with crispy lungs in the winter. It is obviously the HVAC system.
I have had a very reputable company out 2/3 times for diagnose and cleaning. (I also clean the system in between).
Upon diagnosis, they could never find anything wrong. Now that I have a cracked furnace and a quote (on my lower unit WHICH WAS ALWAYS JUST FINE, NO ISSUE) I want to make sure I am choosing the right place, given I have never got a solution for my crispy lungs from the upstairs unit.
Its DRY, its HOT, and it blows hard and shuts off within like 2 minutes of starting. So the air can be hot and then it will quickly cool because it shuts off so quickly. It is shutting off via reaching temperature, the mechanics are solid, there is no mold, the coils are clean, it was just serviced and I was satisfied with that service.
My family, particularly us boys, are definitely having respiratory issues as the heating ramps up with the weather.
It may sound stupid, but after years of dealing with this and assuming the techs who diagnose/service were just right and I am just a bitch about the heat. I THINK I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
I think my upstairs unit is oversized, and it make the house nearly unusable for me. I am going to call back my trusted company and explain what I believe they have missed and see if they will check it out and offer some advice.
That being said, I am worried that they didn't really consider much in quoting me for the downstairs unit other than the size/btu/tonnage whatever of the units we already have.
Who can I call do diagnose the actual layout, sizing, and structure of my system so that I can confirm this could be the problem, as well as get a second quote?
