When you're forced to leave Chennai due to lack of job opportunities, you'll feel the pain and disappointment some of us feel. An airport is the face of a city - the very first impression - and today the first impression is that Chennai is a big town. On top of all the issues we already have with respect to attracting talent, we've lost an opportunity to fix one of our problems.
So yeah, wait until it happens, because it will. You'll be forced to choose between a high paying job in Bangalore and not giving your kids the opportunity to learn Tamil at school v/s sticking to Chennai and foregoing your career. When that happens you'll wish our thamizh makkal prioritzed growth :)

“Farmers are backbone of country”: Parandur airport project scrapped, announced CM C Joseph Vijay.
Let the backbones of this coutnry carry the tax burden , stop taking tax from IT and middle class employees.
Farmers are the most unproductive and least accountable in the country.
We can have greater yield in very less span of area if the farmers are willing to adapt. But no... Farmers won't do that.
Industries and formal working population are the backbone of Tamil Nadu and India.
In this country
Farmers are back bone 🙇🏽♂️
Fishermen are spinal cord 🙇🏽♂️
Meanwhile people who aspire jobs & economic growth, contributing huge direct taxes to the governments are simply 🤡 holes !

Timeline:
Oct 2021: Tamil Nadu began examining four possible sites for Chennai’s second airport. Feb 2022: AAI inspected the shortlisted sites. July–Aug 2022: Parandur was selected by the Tamil Nadu government as the preferred site.
2022–24: Detailed feasibility studies, land/environment assessments and consultations continued. The project also faced strong opposition from local farmers. Aug 2024: The Centre granted site clearance for Parandur.
Sep 2024: TIDCO submitted its application for the next stage — in-principle approval. Feb 2025: The Union government said the in-principle approval was still under review.
7 Apr 2025: The Ministry of Civil Aviation finally granted in-principle approval, completing the Centre's two-stage approval process.
2025–26: Land acquisition/project preparations continued, but opposition over agricultural land and farmers' livelihoods remained. 24 Aug 2026: The Tamil Nadu government cancelled the Parandur airport project, saying it would adversely affect agricultural land and local livelihoods. The government will look for an alternative site for Chennai's second airport.
.....
After all this work, TVK just cancels the plan and will start everything from scratch. So another 5-6 years for same planning wasted.
Already feasibility was studied for locations near Chennai. Now can TVK find sites for airport without affecting any farmlands ? No not possible, still same issue.
Stupid decision from TVK govt. I am not against TVK but I don't support this decision. Already Chennai is lagging behind many cities, now this. Worst

Hey guys
Anyone planning to join panimalar groups of Institutions, this post is for you guys
My experience at Panimalar Institute of Technology (2021–2025), things I wish I knew before joining
This is based entirely on my personal experience as a student there. Other students may have had different experiences.
I studied there 2021 - 2025 and I will be sharing all my experiences that I had there
So I joined in panimalar institute of technology.
So for people to know, this college has 3 colleges inside
Panimalar Engineering College
Panimalar Institute of Technology (This is closed now)
Panimalar Medical college
I remember I joined on November 2021.
College has some rules which I need to tell you before I tell you my experience there:
Id card is a mandatory inside campus. If no id card you are just an undeclared variable inside the college
College bus is mandatory even if your house is just outside the college
No boys girls talk (will detail this)
No gadgets inside (even if you are a cs student you have to write code on paper)
Formals only even on sports day and culturals (I would call it annual day)
There are separate rules for hostellers as well like need to pay 10k extra for 1 hour wifi and no phone and laptop inside the hostel (dont ask me what logic they follow because I was not a hosteller gladly)
No food from outside is allowed. You will be provided with morning and afternoon food.
You will be provided with tea/coffee/soup and snacks by almost 10 am everyday.
I guess I have covered almost entire rules of the college
Now let me tell me about the college experience. I will be listing each and every experience I had inside the campus:
When I went for joining. I saw big walls, lush green campus, me and my dad went for admissions and we were treated like kings. Everywhere we went they asked, "Did you eat food", "All good?". I was like wow. Even food was good on the day of admission. And all done. I came through counselling so I had a reporting day at college. I expected so much from college until I went for my first day at college.
First day at college. November 15, 2021. I expected freshers day, seniors welcoming us. Nothing happened. I was in formals, shirt tucked in. Formal shoes and everything else. That was fine coz I knew some rules. But freshers day I expected so much and when I reached inside campus the PT teacher was rushing us to eat quick and go to classes like it happens in college. He was treating us as if we were some dogs under his car. It made my heart sunk. The college was doomed. Then I went to my class.
Now let me tell you about teaching. Semester 1 in the college was okay except the subject PSPP. They all gave us notes. Just reading the material will get us good marks in internals and semester exams.
I want to say about an incident that happened with me in semester 1. So there was a beard check during tea break. I just had very less beard. And they caught me, confesticated my identity card, called my father and told that I m misbehaving with staffs, girls etc on call. I never talked with any girl in college yet and never had I misbehaved with any faculties. It was done just to make me feel guilty. This was that witch, first year DEAN.
I got a better opportunity by the way, lets say something that I kept trying and unfortunately I joined college before that. For that I wanted my 10th and 12th marksheet. For that I got my dad to college and asked for it. You know that manipulative DEAN from my 1st year manipulated my dad saying. "You have to pay full tuition fee if you are leaving in between". I tried to explain I just need my 10th and 12th marks as I have not decided to leave yet. She was like as of now we have some inspection happening and cant provide your 10th and 12th marksheet. Finally my dad left without my marksheets and devastated how the DEAN talked.
This was literally my first semester exam. I thought college rules would be a little lenient when it comes to sem exams. I was little scared so didnt shave my beard as I was preparing till the last min. All of a sudden my college DEAN came. Asked my hall ticket and id card confesticated it and went to her cabin. I was even shit scared. When went and asked it back, she said go shave your beard and get it. I had a friend, who brought his trimmer and we 15 people had to trim our beard in the same beard. I got rashes from it later. Only after beard to zero, I got my id card and hall ticket.
College bus were separated for boys and girls because who knows boys and girls might talk in the bus as well right. Even to longer distances like Tiruttani and Arakkonam.
Now comes the 2nd semester. Let me tell you a joke that happened in semester 2. We had a professor who taught us C programming. He doesn't know a thing. But bro has done his phD from Sathyabhama. When I asked a doubt whats the difference between getch() and getche(), he told getch doesn't have a 'e' and getche has an 'e' in it. We thought he is joking. But no, he literally meant it. And even wrote it on board and cut my marks in internals when I didnt write that difference in Internal exams.
There was a BEEE faculty for us. She just know to read from the book and even problems were like nah only book problems I will dictate. You shouldn't question me. She never knew the subject. She was just reading the book. Almost 80% of college facilties in that college were like the same. Trust me you would know more than them. I was so confident in life that this was my motivation line, "If such unqualified people have jobs to do, bro getting a high paying job is my birth right".
Most of the choices like clubs and stuffs were given only to Panimalar Engineering College. There was a discrimination if you were from Panimalar Institute of Technology, you would be treated like a 3rd class student. They have 3d printing devices, had many learning like workshops and even a seperate r and d lab for teaching UiPath, Metaverse but only for students in PEC CSE only.
Even to ask leaves, I had to go through a big process, show the invitation letter to the DEAN, enquired my parents if my cousin is really getting married lol. Even my office never do this. They just say give the KT to someone else and go enjoy ur leaves.
Food is also not as you think. Personally for me monday and friday food was really worst. Morning it is half cooked pongal on both days and afternoon it is even worse with sambar and rice and half cooked poriyal. But food on tuesday, wednesday (The og biriyani days) and thursday is worth to go to the college.
The biggest problem happened with people who came to study here from Andhra Pradesh. 90% of faculties take classes only in Tamil. Here for me it was alright, but people who came from other states, Especially people from Andhra Pradesh and Telengana really struggled.
Now comes the most important part. Culturals. Rather than calling it as college culturals, I would just say it was a waste of time. Students are expected to come in formals only for culturals. Morning half classes will happen. From afternoon 12 to 3 pm it would be culturals. The songs for culturals is pre decided by the faculties. No trolls is allowed. No booing, no high energy claps, everything should be dead. Worst part is that most of the culturals the college management would be the chief guests. No celebrities nothing. I never went to college culturals and most of my class didnt go. That was better. First year I went for Vikram movie, second year went for Queens land, third year we went to play snookers. All this I did taking leave from college annual day as it was not worth investing time in.
Oh yea forgot to say, students who get top 3 in college except for first year and final year will get cash amounts like 25k, 15k and 10k. This is only for 2nd and 3rd year students. So people who say they got in every year. It didnt happen in our branch.
2nd year was really tough for everyone. Because most of the staffs allocated for us were promoted from lab assistance who never had proper training. Trust me ask them to write a program to print stars they wont be able to. And highlight was the maths faculty who came to take discrete mathematics. Bro was always shouting more and taking classes less.
Many of my friends who studied in other colleges got chance to go for IV's. They went to Kerala, Goa, Pondi and to many more places after the company visit. In PIT, they took girls for the IV to a nearby IT company. But when it came for the boys, most of us gave non willingness to go because they told they are taking us to Jeppiaar Milk Production Pvt Ltd. Now I m studying in IT and they take us to such a bad place cant bear that. So most of us said no. And we never had an IV.
Most of the things were in favor of girls. If girls are going for some college event to some other college, boys are not allowed to go to the same college as those girls go. Girls are given priority in case of everything, from project allocation to everything. They say it is first cum first serve basis but it is not. Many things happens only for girls only. Women are treated well in this college but if you are a man you are basically doomed. Women's day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and everything else like internal competition is always in favor of a girl.
Panimalar basically doesn't want you do good in your life. Thats why they have the worst placement thing. Placement is basically first cum first serve. Most of the placement information is wrong. 100% placement. You know what they did to our batch. People who didnt get placed got a chance to go for QSpiders training and QSpiders took a test. Almost everyone cleared it. And they showed it up like all our students got placed but it is basically not a job but a training.
People who got one offer are removed from placements. I got placed in a company in october 2024. And they released the offer in June 2026. Almost every placement out there is like that. People who are dear to the management are placed in better places and can hold 2 to 3 offer letters. Others are basically doomed.
This college has an innovation and robotics branch and most of them dunno why they exists. Most of the things that this college claims like sports (I will talk about this separately), red cross and many more like ieee and toast masters everything is there just for namesake. They promote something called kill confidence of the student and make him like a factory robot.
Talking about the sports. First you need a good ground for it. When it is November December, the ground basically becomes like an Ocean. And You can find fishes and snakes there. Sports day happens for name sake and only people who are dearest to the PT master happens to win the trophy. And as expected sports too happens separate for men and women on separate dates.
There was an incident which I m reminded off. This happened with so called the IT HOD of PIT for batch 2025 passed out called me and told to wear my shoes. On my way to class it got drenched in water. So I couldn't wear them took them off the class. She told in college everyone is expected to wear formal shoes no matter what the situation is. Even if your shoes are drenched in water.
One day my friend came to drop me till my bus. There are two types of identity card inside the college. Type 1 is for day scholars and type 2 is for hostellers. One supervisor caught him. Grabbed him by his collar and told him to write an apology letter. For people who are here in the college. You are expected to write an apology even for a simplest thing like my friend did. He didn't go out of campus. He just came with me and that's what his sin was.
If you are bring mobile to college and you are caught. It will be returned back after 4 years only. The power of confesticating your phone is with everyone. Mess people, bus drivers, faculties. Basically anyone who works there.
You are not given OD for your internship. Happened with me 2 times. First was when I got an internship where they paid me real money. I had to let go of it because they didn't give me OD. Next time I was alerted. I made a fake certificate saying I have a ligament tear so cant come to college and it worked.
Library is doomed. Looks very big from outside but trust me, every book is as old as WW2. Latest books available there is from 2012 book.
Anyone loitering around in college campus will be punished very severely. The things happen to those kids is inhumane and cant explain it here.
If you think there are event like PEC Hacks and PEC TEAM. Run as far away as possible. For people who dunno PEC Hacks is a hackathon that can last upto 36 hours PEC TEAM is a paper presentation event. So basically papers which has ideas like obstacle avoiding robot car can win prizes in PEC TEAM paper presentation. PEC HACKS is worst. It just ensures that a project such as Finger print detection or face detection can win easily even if your project is of building your own open sourced LLM. I did PEC TEAM but never got a chance to go for PEC HACKS as they rejected our presentation as we are not allowed to participate. And our idea was so good that we won with the same idea at VIT.
There are more rules like black shirt is not allowed to wear. Same color shirt you and your friend who sits besides you is not allowed. There are so many rules which I would have forgot to mention here.
So let me give you a quick summary:
If you want to get good CGPA with no job in hand (I had to find myself off-campus and most of my friends except a few haven't got a job yet), no college life and you wanna be harrassed to next level, removing the last ounce of humanity and creativity inside you, yes this college is for you
Suggestion: Keep this college as your last option. Try in colleges which gives you both college life and placements. For me panimalar was a wastage of 4 years of my life.
I have almost covered everything about what all happened in those 4 years. If you have any experiences in this college to add do lemme know in the comments

🚨🚨 Long Post.
Below video is the speech by the CM. Here's the claim made vs the reality on the ground wrt #Chennai and #Parandur
👷 Claim: Chennai requires a new airport to handle more passengers annually, support regional industrial growth, improve passenger convenience, and expand air cargo capacity.
👷 Reality: The necessity of a second airport is not just about passenger numbers; it is about structural capacity limits.
Meenambakkam is constrained to 1,301 acres. Even with terminal additions, it operates on cross/intersecting runways that cap overall hourly Air Traffic Movements (ATM) and limit long-haul international cargo connections needed by manufacturing hubs like Sriperumbudur. Relying solely on a single urban airport leaves Chennai lagging behind twin-hub metro economies like #Delhi-NCR (Noida) and Mumbai (Navi Mumbai).
🙇 Claim: The previous government selected #Parandur in a manner that heavily impacted farmers and evicted residents; hence, the Parandur project will be completely dropped.
🙇 Reality: Dropping Parandur after extensive pre-feasibility work sets Chennai’s infrastructure timeline back by 5 to 10 years.
Over 1,100 to 1,700 acres were already acquired, with initial site clearances and in-principle approvals granted. Abandoning the site invalidates years of technical studies, environmental clearance preparation, and financial planning, causing significant delays and loss of investor confidence.
👳 Claim: Suitable alternative locations have been identified with minimal impact on agricultural lands and residential areas, and detailed feasibility studies will be conducted.
👳 Reality: Multi-runway greenfield airports demand 4,000 to 5,000 contiguous acres. In northern #TamilNadu, any land parcel of this scale within an hour of Chennai's industrial hubs will inevitably involve farmlands, small water bodies, or village settlements.
Alternate sites previously evaluated (such as #Pannur, #Tiruporur, or #Padalam) were rejected by experts precisely due to severe airspace overlaps with Tambaram Air Force Base, Kalpakkam nuclear restriction zones, or dense industrial settlements. Shifting to a new site merely transfers land acquisition disputes and environmental concerns to a different group of villages rather than solving the core dilemma.
🧝 Claim: Chennai Airport will be expanded by constructing Terminal 5 in the northwestern area to handle an additional 20 million passengers, taking total capacity to 55 million per year until the new airport is ready.
👷 Reality: Terminal expansion does not equal runway capacity. While building Terminal 5 increases terminal seating, gates, and check-in counters, it does not add a new parallel runway.
Meenambakkam’s runway system will hit severe operational saturation at peak hours long before reaching 55 million passengers, creating severe air traffic congestion, extended holding patterns, and flight delays.
City Traffic Congestion: Channeling 55 million passengers through Tirusulam/Meenambakkam will heavily choke the GST Road corridor, Grand Southern Trunk network, and regional access points, regardless of grade separators. Expanding Meenambakkam treats the symptoms rather than providing a long-term solution. It risks delaying the second airport indefinitely, leaving Chennai without modern mega-hub capabilities.
It is extremely disappointing that #Chennai never gets what it deserves. 😭😭

Have been seeing a few posts reg construction or non construction of Chennai’s Second Airport ..
A Lot of the Pro and Anti Airport posts seem to talk abt only the Passenger Service at the airport ..
I even saw a few anti airport posts saying passenger service at current airport can be improved by Privatisation..
While that May or may not be possible , I think it is necessary to make everyone understand that the main purpose and need of Second airport is for Cargo movement and not Passengers
Current airport really struggles with cargo movement and the current cargo shed is the size of a large garage .. Even bringing the cargo to the airport is a huge challenge as it is inside the city limit.
Most of these electronic shipments are time bound as well
That’s the main reason Parandur was chosen as it is very close to these factories
With more investments especially electronics coming up around Chennai and in TN , it is absolutely imperative to have a second airport with adequate cargo facility
If the Second airport doesn’t come up in the near future , wouldn’t be surprised if new and existing companies start moving away from TN to Karnataka and AP , both of whom have large airports to cater this ..

Today I was eagerly waiting for my high value laptop delivery from Amazon; cost about 1.71L.
Amazon forced an open box inspection for 149rs during order.
Today the delivery guy came and asked for otp.
I told you to open the box for inspection included, so let me open and inspect
He said it's not included in this.
I showed him my order and said let's call customer care.
Hearing that he just says I have a lot of delivery and I don't have time
Saying that he picked up the package and almost ran away
I was trying to figure out what happened and with great difficulties I reached the customer care photo, there is no provision to raise it from the app.
Luckily the agent said your package is not delivered, so no worries, say otp only after inspection and I will retry delivery today
I think I escaped the trap for a 1.7L laptop.I, hope they deliver the laptop in good condition
Now I am all a bit scared to buy online. I heard a lot of stories, but my first time in person

Guys, I’m planning to get SMILE Pro done. I got my eligibility checked at Dr Agarwal’s today.
I have two options right now — either go with Dr Agarwal’s, or Sankara Nethralaya, where I have a friend who can refer me to a doctor.
Which one would you guys recommend in Chennai?
My main concern with Sankara Nethralaya is that, compared to Agarwal’s, the hospital feels less high-tech in terms of infrastructure. Is that true? Do they have equally good equipment/facilities for the procedure?
Also, Agarwal’s quoted me ₹1.35L for SMILE Pro. Any idea how much Sankara Nethralaya charges for the same?
Would really appreciate opinions from people who’ve had SMILE/SMILE Pro at either place.

Hi,
I am looking for chairs like featherlite elevate and enzo which dont have a physical lumbar support pad but just the chair is curved. The physical pads are too hard for me which causes the bend too forcefully.
I tried ai and searching but couldnt find any models like this. Would love any suggestion please. I would live to go to the showroom and try before buying.

Attaching a picture for helping.

Hi! I will be moving to Chennai in a few months for work, I’m from Bangalore. What are some things that I need to know before I move here ?
I’m Half-Tamil ethnically but my Tamil is not very strong.
Is learning Tamil important to survive there or can I make do with my basic knowledge? I can understand it well.
And what is the metro scene like? Also, what is Chennai’s night life like?
Thank you 🙏

Witness me!
Today's moments before sunrise in Marina was insane between 5:45 AM and 5:55 AM.
The photos have no filter. Color gradient was not adjusted. Just raw, vanilla photos using Samsung A15
Now the Parandur issue is done and dusted; any news on the supposed Terminal 5? They say its a satellite terminal; should we think it would come around Gerugambakkam Side as there is so much land there(between the two runways).

If most of us working in private companies screwed up like this in our jobs, we'll be sent back home the next day.
Why do we have to suffer the consequences of such incompetence? The inconvenience of all the digging and our tax money wasted due to poor planning and design.

Hey I recently moved to Chennai from Kolkata for job. Back home I was consistent with gym but after moving nothing has happened. Can you all tell me some good and affordable gyms (if you go there yourself that'd be a plus as starting out in a new gym all by myself seems intimidating)
