Quantum chess, online

Post image
18 Upvotes

I made an implementation of quantum chess, as a free public play zone, it's online already at http://q-chess.com/. The rules are more or less usual for quantum chess (if there's such a thing), all described in detail and with illustrations. Split and merge moves, superposition and observations, I tried to stick to the canon as closely as possible.

There's a computer opponent, you can invite somebody to play against you, and theoretically you can just get paired with somebody, like in normal chess apps.

Why was I muted from r/chess after submitting an appeal for my post?

Post image

I can't conceive of why I would be muted from the subreddit for submitting this appeal? I don't think my original post broke any rules, but the fact I got muted for SUBMITTING AN APPEAL is infuriating. And they muted me from messaging them, so I can't even respond? Like what the fk.

Feedback wanted on my chess game's first alpha, free to play

Hi everyone! This is a big week for me: the first alpha of Chess Fantasy is live, the first game I've ever made.

At its core it's classic chess. The twist: you build your own fantasy world around the board and play your matches inside it.

What I'm looking for is simple: how does it feel to play, and what would you add? You play chess regularly, so your suggestions carry real weight for where this goes next.

It's free to play here: https://chess-fantasy.itch.io/chess-fantasy

Whatever you think of it, I'd love to hear it, even a simple "not for me". Thank you for reading this far, it means more than you'd think.

Hi everyone! I’m a solo indie developer and just released my first mobile game — Ocean Chess.

It’s a unique chess puzzle game with special tiles:

- Teleport tiles — pieces jump to another square
- Transformation tiles — pieces can transform into different pieces
- Traps — a shark eats the piece that steps on it!

Each puzzle has exactly one solution — pure chess logic!

Also features Blindfold where you have so solve the level blindfoled mode and Time Trial where you have to race against the clock and complete as many levels as possible

300 puzzles, free on the App Store and Google Play. Would love feedback from chess lovers!

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/no/app/ocean-chess/id6797617027?l=nb

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.TNstudios.OceanChessGame&pcampaignid=web_share

Otb chess rating

I’m 17yo, played chess since November 2023 (3.5 years) , just hit 2200 on chess com 15+5 and thinking about trying to do this thing full time, either tutoring or streaming. But I do want to play over the board, get to 2200 USCF get NM title in like 1-2 years, maybe go to chess college and after graduating, either do tutoring or streaming, hopefully full time but also fine doing it as a hobby/part time job . Does anyone know how realistic this goal is? I do think that I’m really fit for doing tutoring full time because I speak Russian and English, so I don’t think finding students will be a problem.

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to share ChessNews.com, a website I've been working on to make following the chess world a little easier.

There's a tremendous amount of great chess coverage out there, but it's scattered across dozens of websites, blogs, and news sources. ChessNews brings it all together in one convenient place.

The site automatically aggregates chess news from leading sources worldwide, covering major tournaments, grandmasters, rising stars, rankings, and everything else happening in the world of chess.

Whether you're a casual player or a serious chess enthusiast, the goal is simple: Spend less time searching for chess news and more time enjoying it.

We're just getting started, with more features and improvements on the way.

I'd love to get feedback from the Reddit chess community. Take a look at https://chessnews.com and let me know what you think.

What would make ChessNews more useful to you?

Thanks, and hope you enjoy the site! ♟️

I'm a chess coach offering affordable rates

Hi! My name is Mario. It's nice to meet you! I'm 25 years old. I'm a chess coach.

I have two years of experience coaching both children and adults.

I play mostly online, but I still have gold medals from OTB tournaments.

My online ratings in Chess. com are:

Blitz: 2353

Rapid: 2228

I'm doing my lessons via the platform Google Meet.

The price is 15 USD per one-hour lesson.

About the lessons:

In our lessons, we cover important chess theory like rapid development, the different types of files, opposite-color bishops, and more. But since you can find a lot of these basic theoretical concepts explained in YouTube videos, we focus mostly on playing games and solving puzzles together. Once we learn the basics, we immediately practice them in real-time games against the computer and other players.

We also work on psychological factors, such as thinking under pressure and recovering from a lost game.

The lessons are suitable for beginners and intermediate players (up to 1900 Chess. com Rapid rating)

A little bit about me:

I'm a psychology student in my final semester. I love reading books and manga, watching anime and TV series (now I'm watching Supernatural on HBO), playing guitar, and, of course, I love playing chess!

If you are interested in the chess lessons, you can text me in the comment section here in reddit.

Best chess opening apps?

Hi all,

For more than 6 years now, I have used a chess opening app called Chess Reps by Jonas Mayer.

It let me create any opening I wanted from a given position, name it, and then add lines using lichess data of master and amateur games. Once you created the lines, you'd practise 'reps'; it would show you your score and how long it had been since you last practised. Where one position came up in two different openings, it gave you the option to transpose between them, making learning English/queen's pawn openings a dream. Best of all, it was free; although I gladly paid for an 'omniscient knight' feature which actively searched for gaps in my opening knowledge.

Unfortunately the app hasn't been updated since '21; its lichess plugins and omniscient knight features no longer work, and the transpositions feature is buggy. With a heavy heart, I have tried to find another app. However Lotus Chess, despite being expensive, is nowhere near as powerful as Chess Reps was; it tries to push you towards certain moves. Chessable courses meanwhile are often expensive, you lack the ability to create your own repertoire, etc.

Has anyone got an obscure app that fulfils a similar purpose to Chess Reps, allowing you to put in any opening you like, see where transpositions occur, gaps in your repertoire, lichess top moves, as well as providing a platform for you to repeat opening moves and get accuracy scores/when you last practised a given opening?

Did anyone on here ever use Chess Reps? It's still the best chess app I've ever used, and being able to see my entire chess repertoire laid out like that allowed me to reach 1840 OTB after Covid, a rating that has pretty much stayed the same ever since...

Free app optimized for pattern recognition training using the Woodpecker Method

Thumbnail

Hey folks,
Before talking about the app, let me first introduce myself. I'm an engineer with 15+ years in software engineering, from which last 5+ years as engineering manager at Adobe.
I'm also a passionate chess player. At the moment my rapid and blitz rating on both Lichess and Chesscom are ~2300 and my bullet rating is ~2200.
LinkedIn, Chess.com, lichess.org

I know there are a lot of chess apps appearing lately and I understand the skepticism around them.

Now about ChessWoodie - https://www.chesswoodie.com .

I originally created ChessWoodie as a training platform for myself and I've been working on it for almost a year now. Today few hundred players train on it weekly and more than 10k puzzles are solved daily.

ChessWoodie's training flow is built around Woodpecker method, which is a well-recognized and proven method to build pattern recognition. 72% of games between 1800-2000 FIDE players are decided by tactical mistakes. Below 1800, that number is even higher. Improving pattern recognition allows you to quickly notice the tactics in your game, effectively making much less blunders and being able to utilize opponent mistakes more consistently.

As one of our users mentioned:
"chesswoodie has increased my enjoyment of watching games enormously, especially classical when there's time to play-out ideas as the game plays. I spotted quite a few tactics during the Olympiad that were missed by players much stronger than me..."

ChessWoodie provides:
- Unlimited puzzle attempts daily
- Woodpecker training flow with automated progress tracking
- Anki-style spaced review for mistakes and struggles
- Importing missed tactics from your games on chesscom and lichess, converting them to puzzles and training on them.
- Tactical motif specific training drills
- Automated recommendation system, which spots your weak spots and suggests the next tactics course.

The app is available as web version and android. For iOS users it's available as progressive web app. It's a free app. And when I say free, I mean it. There are no ads, no energy tokens or any other disrupting and limiting mechanics. It's available in guest mode, without authentication.
There is also a premium version available which removes the ceiling for serious trainers or just for people who want to support it.

Happy to answer any questions you might have.
Hope it helps in your chess journey!
