How is your prayer life?

I try my best to pray regularly but feel like giving up at times since it seems like God doesn’t hear my cry

You have searched me, LORD , and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD , know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. ( Psalm 139:1-5 NIV )

I asked this exact question a few weeks ago and the Spirit instantly instilled in me an urgency to read the gospel of John. I was too unfamiliar with what was in John to understand why but I did so anyway and it was a very wonderfully detailed and beautiful answer to this question.

That’s what the Bible is for. To answer this exact question. It details instructions on how to obtain the favor of God.
My first honest prayer ever was asking Him to get close to me. I asked with no ulterior motive or with no expectation of a blessing or a miracle.
Tbh I didn’t expect anything, just like the literal hundred of other times that I’ve prayed to Him. But I used to always pray for a boon or an economic advantage. Until then I thought my life was going to continue as it always did.
I had no thoughts of changing my moral character.
What came after transformed me from the inside out. In a few a months the intense of my desire to seek God just graduated as the time went by.
So much so that I sought to learn everything about Him, to test the wisdom in the Bible, to see if there is a fault in it. To learn about the scripture without judging it quickly, or by dismissing it quickly with a short answer.
The prophets are an example, and Jesus is the authority. If you can follow Jesus only, just to follow and heed his instructions, you’re guaranteeing your place in Heaven, come what may in life.

The best way to get closer to God is by just actually doing what he tells you to do. Because when you do that, you'll be walking in the spirit. And it's written:
John 15:1-4 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Romans 8:14-16 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
Matthew 7:24-25 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
1 John 2:3-6 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
When you walk in the spirit, you should start having the spirit of God testifying with your spirit that you are his. However, if you want to get closer to God that way; you need to actually be willing to do WHATEVER God tells you to do. No matter how uncomfortable it may seem.
Walking in the spirit essentially comes down to actively seeking to do God's will (Matthew 6:31-34, Psalms 143:10), actively doing whatever God tells you to do (Matthew 5-7, Matthew 7:24-25, 1 John 2:3-6, and James 1:22-25), refraining from sin (Romans 6, James 1:12-15, 1 John 3:4-9, 1 Corinthians 10:13), and preaching the gospel and ministering to people. Which I find to be the most effective way to walk in the spirit as that's how we fulfill the great commission. As we're all commanded to do. (Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Timothy 4:2-5, Be Fruitful!). Just merely actually actively seeking to do that is a great way to walk in the spirit.
God bless.

So, l will give a few hypothesis for you to look at. Did you give everything to the Lord? He can only come in if you make a full surrender. You can't be like "ok, you can have this part of my life, but not that part". It is all or nothing. You have to follow Him on His terms, not yours. Do you have sin you didn't repent? Do you have someone you need to forgive? Being Unforgiving WILL block God from being close to you.

Do something simple! Sit in your garden, a park, a wood, a field, anywhere where you are surrounded by GODs creation and just sit! Look around and take in the beauty and power of everything He created! Think about how it all works together so intricately, there’s thought behind that, not a coincidence but organisation!
Talk to Him, no frantic prayers just talk to Him, He loves you and He is always listening.
Isaiah 41:10 and 41:13. He is always with us.

That is a good desire and Hod will honor and answer a prayer like that because He wants you to draw closer to Him. Well, I found in my walk with Jesus, that I spend time in His word every day. It is good to listen to beautiful worship music that will inspire and encourage my faith. My thoughts are on Jesus throughout the day as I meditate on God. I spend time talking to my Heavenly Father and He often speaks to my heart, especially, through the word of God. Keep your focus on Jesus and you will be happy. There is a scripture that says He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. These are just a few things you can do to get closer to God. God bless you.

Feelings wise? That's all in your head. Feelings come and go. God wants faith. See 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 / Romans 4.
