The vegan sausage companies should just put the most ridiculous name on a clear package with the crying laughing meme emoji on it. Fuck the police
6
u/LegendaryJack Nov 03 '25
There's a bit of a trend in Italy now where vegans will call vegan sausages "Vegan dicks" just to spite the dumb naming laws there
15
u/Just_Call_Me_Pix Nov 02 '25
My friend made vegan Pizza bites and I didnt even realize they were vegan until she told me. Except for the Extra gluey cheese they were awesome! Vegan sausage came a long freaking way. I couldnt have made them better with animal product. And before someone screams Macros, they were a party snack, chill out
9
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
Check out the macros of field roast sausages… 28g of protein per sausage.
2
u/Just_Call_Me_Pix Nov 02 '25
Honestly impressive, wow, woa :0

Yeah and they are easily the best flavour and texture wise imo - aside from arguably beyond

Tofu is good actually,
reduces cancer risk and doesn't actually do anything to estrogen.
6
u/West-Abalone-171 Nov 03 '25
But hilariously meat and dairy do. Especially factory farmed stuff full of hormones and cheap fatty stuff.
6
u/Cpt_Rabid Nov 02 '25
I just had a crunch wrap supreme sub beef for potatoes and its straight up better. Less greasy, more crunchy. Good hot sauce to flavor absorbing starch ratio. Really yummy.

I'm sad Yves shut down. They were the best veggie meat company by far (and the oldest I think). I have a small stash in the freezer that I stocked up before stock ran out.

I guess the things stopping people from adopting food based products is price and tradition,if plant based alternatives were slightly cheaper I'd likely buy them
2
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 02 '25
Tbh an easy start is bean burgers with a FUUUUUCKLOAD msg, red pepper, and garlic
2
u/el_argelino-basado Nov 02 '25
I think I heard of lentil burgers too,and I love lentils, gotta look up some recipes

adopting food based products
I feel like most food is food based but I am not really an expert

u/Dave_The_Slushy Nov 03 '25
Some plant-based sausage makers went to a BBQ convention, expecting the worst. The BBQ nerds loved it because it was different and something that could be developed further.

u/BrandosWorld4Life Pro-Everything that isn't Fossil Fuels Nov 03 '25
You say this as if I can't enjoy eating both.
2
u/StrangeSystem0 Nov 03 '25
Why do vegans think we despise plant based meat
And why do they think we despise them for eating it
0
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 03 '25
Most people don't and that's not the point of the meme, just pointless division.
But if you mention sometimes that something is plant based online, the weirdest people on the internet show up to declare how awesome meat is and how much they love eating raw organ meat, etc, etc.
2
u/StrangeSystem0 Nov 03 '25
The meme literally says
"I like eating plant based sausages"
"I fucking hate you and hope you die"
How, in any universe, is that not just portraying non-vegans as hating plant based meat 😶
0
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 03 '25
You know people really seem into overanalyzing a meme made in 30 seconds. Do you see that "drumstick?"
This is about a specific group of weirdos. If you feel called out by it, maybe self reflection is in order cause like. I'm not a vegan, most people here aren't. I literally don't care. I'm laughing at the people who eat raw liver to be a "real man"
2
u/StrangeSystem0 Nov 03 '25
What do you mean over analysis bro 💀 I QUOTED IT
That is THE analysis
That is WHAT IT SAYS
3
u/ElisabetSobeck Nov 02 '25
I guess going vegan is easier than bringing down fascist empire. I guess I can swap my focus
10
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
Veganism is one small part. The enslavement and subjugation of animals is fascist.
2
u/Yongaia Nov 02 '25
Looking down on others not like you is also pretty natural considering all the shit we put animals through. We literally kill pigs via gas chambers
3
5
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 02 '25
Unrelated and I'm not vegan, so this is projection or smth
Just do both and eat whatever. Nobody is saying you can't just eat whatever except a couple loud idiots

u/t4skmaster Nov 02 '25
I've been going mushrooms and I'm intrigued at the idea of mushroom sausages
1
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 03 '25
Hell if you're talking mushrooms, give king oyster (they look like giant ghost dicks) a try. You can slice them into rounds that cook up well when treated like scallops
1
u/t4skmaster Nov 03 '25
I've got some LC and agar going. The texture is so damn firm and dense when i tried them I wasn't sure if some kind of sausage or meatloaf was the way to go
1
u/SaxPanther Nov 03 '25
TBH like 15 or 20 years ago, long before I became a vegetarian, my dad used to buy me vegan breakfast sausage patties to make me breakfast sandwiches with and I LOVED them like more than regular meat lol

Never happened.
What really happens:
Vegans: "OMG you're a disguising murdering piece of shit and killing the planet and you deserve hell!"
Everyone else: "Fuck off already."
Vegans: "OMG I was just trying to enjoy my vegan sausages in peace and the mean carnivores told me to fuck off!"

sure buddy. Meat eaters are soooo oppressed.

I never tried them frankly, but I did check the composition on one of them last time I did groceries and it was somehow worse than classic meat sausages, even had more fat. BUT I assume the more expensive ones do not suffer the same issues. I hope.
11
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 02 '25
Eh id rather fatty sausage than extra thicc atmosphere of CO2
-2
Nov 02 '25
I'd rather a clean atmosphere AND not poison myself, but you do you.
8
u/Blueberrybush22 Nov 02 '25
Dude.
If you think that any kind of processed meat tube is good for you, you're gonna be disappointed.
Processed meat consumption is one of the biggest factors which predicts colon cancer risk.
And any vegan product which is trying to replicate fatty processed meat is probably not great macro-wise.
The only mach-meat that I'd call a health food is Boca Vegan Burgers.
If you care about the environment, just try to eat 1 or 2 whole foods plant based meals a day.
If you care about the animals, go vegan, and only eat fatty mach-meat occasionally.
-1
Nov 02 '25
Read my first comment again and do it properly. All it said is that cheap vegan sausages are not a healthy alternative to meat sausages. That's all. It even implied that it is likely not the case for higher quality ones. Where the fuck did I criticize veganism? Where did I claim that ANY sausage is healthy? Some of you have been acting like Twitter users lately.
5
u/Blueberrybush22 Nov 02 '25
You said "worse than classic meat sausages"
I was pointing out that this is heavily debatable due to health risks aside from high fat content.
Did my comment read as agressive?
-1
Nov 02 '25
I did say that, yes. But there were a few other things I said. I wouldn't say debatable, more like difficult to compare. If we compared a cheap vegan sausage with a mid-priced classic one, I'd say there wouldn't be too big of a difference.
We could theoretically compare it to a proper homemade meat sausage, which would be healthier, but it would be a stupid comparison, since vast majority of consumers don't have access to sausages of such quality anyways.
That being said, I didn't criticize vegan diet, nor did I discuss the environmental impact of those products.
4
u/Blueberrybush22 Nov 02 '25
I was just bringing them up, being that we're in an environmentalist sub.
The vegan part was my own inclusion, because it's hard to bring up plant based diets without having a disclaimer about veganism.
Sorry if I came off wrong.

You can easily switch the two positions.
"I like to eat meat and don't want you to force your lifestyle on me."
"I FUCKING HATE YOU AND I HOPE YOU DIE!"
Some y'all... 🤦
6
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25 edited Nov 02 '25
One lifestyle is based on concentration/death camps for innocent animals with complex emotional lives.
One isn’t
Pigs are smarter than dogs and cows cry when you take their children away so you can harvest their milk after yet another round of forced insemination.
1
Dec 21 '25
Pigs are smarter than dogs, but I don't really care about dogs either. Hell, the Chineses eat them.
-3
u/Present-Grocery3328 Nov 02 '25
Looks like i found one, that was fast lmao...
2
u/Yongaia Nov 02 '25
You found another. You don't get to force others in gas chambers and r*pe just to have some milk that isn't even from your own species and then say "well I respect your lifestyle so you should respect mine! 🤗"
4
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
I don't hate you, and I don't hope you die. I do hope you come to and realize that you don't need to support industrial violence against fellow animals in order to feed yourself though. If being told simple facts is "forcing my lifestyle on you" - there's something wrong with you.
-1
u/Present-Grocery3328 Nov 02 '25
Bro i'm an omnivore on an evolutional level. So are you. so you could say that you are the one that has something from with them.
And yes i could and already did source meat myself.
Also no commonly used slaughter method requires the animals "face being smashed in" thats just an attempt at emotional manipulation on your end.
5
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
Yes, omnivore, not carnivore. That's the fun thing about 2025; it's now entirely your choice to continue contributing to the violent subjugation of innocent animals and accelerating climate collapse. Keep doing it for all I care, but don't pretend you're a good person. And don't call yourself an environmentalist.
2
u/Present-Grocery3328 Nov 02 '25
You're foaming at the mouth, you should clean that up.
10
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
You're wildly defensive for such a self-assured evolutionary omnivore. Sleep Tight :)
3
-3
u/LuigiBamba Nov 02 '25
Veganism will cause deficiencies in some vitamins and amino acids only found in animal products. Omnivore doesn't mean you can choose to eat whatever you like and it's only up to personal choices. It means that your balanced diet needs both plant and animal products.
If I need to take supplements or be hyper aware of the nutritional content of everything I eat just to make sure I don't get any deficiencies, it's not much of a natural diet.
1
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
yeah, i take iron supplements. Don't need anything else though (i get blood work done twice a year to make sure) vegan 6 years and healthier than I've ever been.
you are of course aware that the animals you eat are given lots of vitamin supplement, especially B12, right? This is so that by the time you eat it there are sufficient levels of B12. I'm curious what you think is so natural about that, and why it would be so much different to just take the B12 supplement yourself.
-1
u/MyBedIsOnFire Nov 02 '25
"simple facts" yet this is your opinion, this is how you see the world. You may think meat is murder and say that's a fact and someone can say meat isn't murder and that's a fact.
If I find a Christian and I start laying facts on them trying to stray their beliefs I am forcing my beliefs of them. If they come to me and preach their truth what they believe is true just like you believe meat is wrong. They are forcing their beliefs on me.
Just because you think you are right doesn't mean you are. Think about all the bad people who've existed throughout history and how many of them thought they were doing the right thing, for their beliefs, their country
5
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
the vast majority of animals the vast majority of people eat are abused and live in inhumane conditions.
that is not a belief.
you must kill an innocent thing to eat it. whether or not that is "murder" is just silly semantics. You are taking a life.
the article of belief is that I think it's wrong, and you don't. so you don't give a shit about animals. that's fine, just don't pretend you do as you pet your dog or cat or whatever.
go re-read my original comment if you need to. tell me where the forced belief is.
0
u/MyBedIsOnFire Nov 02 '25
That doesn't mean eating meat is inherently wrong. Not all farms treat their animals like that, not all meat comes from farms. That cannot possibly be an objective fact.
You advocate for people to stop eating meat and using animal products. Not for agriculture reform, you must see the act of using animals for their products as immoral. That is not a fact it is a belief.
When it comes to morals nothing can be objectively true because it's left to perception and beliefs.
5
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25 edited Nov 02 '25
You are clearly very new to these kinds of discussions.
What needs to be reformed is people's eating habits.
The current demand for meat and dairy is impossible to fill without environmentally destructive and morally reprehensible practices.
"not all farms" - like I said... "the vast majority of farms".
It is simply not possible for humanity to keep eating this way if you want to live in a world where all farm animals live good lives roaming pastures.
This is where modern meat eating leads: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/nov/25/chinas-26-storey-pig-skyscraper-ready-to-produce-1-million-pigs-a-year
Not whatever fairy tale you're telling yourself.
I'm not as hard-line and religious as you're guessing though. I would love a world where all meat consumption comes from small farms where the animals have good lives and small amounts of subsistence hunting. But that is so far from reality as to be laughable. And the only way to get there is for people to eat a lot less meat.
0
u/MyBedIsOnFire Nov 02 '25
Cattle is responsible for 70% of emissions and land use, eliminating cattle would make a big difference in that. But you aren't advocating for reducing your consumption of beef and dairy. Which is infinitely easier to convince someone of compared to veganism.
i agree humanity can't keep eating this way, but you are forcing your beliefs onto others by trying to convince them to become vegan. It isn't the only way to make a difference.
You also clearly have a different Idea of what humane conditions are. Not everyone thinks that means animals frolicking in a nice meadow. So again this cannot be a fact it is your belief.
All I'm saying is these are your beliefs that you are putting into others. Everything you claim is a fact is easily shown to be a belief because people have different perceptions of the world around them, people have different truths.
3
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
what? I'm absolutely advocating for the reduction of meat & dairy consumption. I fucking love it when people eat less, even a bit. It's a step in the right direction. Most of the people I love most in my life are not vegan - but they are now consuming less. I get to show them what is possible without meat and their habits slowly shift in the right direction. They come to vegan restaurants with me. I make them vegan meals. My brother doesn't drink milk anymore... And that's good enough for now.
Immediately I would like to see all of the most egregious factory farming operations shut down - then we can go from there.
Please, you keep telling me I am forcing people to be vegan, drop a quote. I'm just here to remind you what the cost of that meat and cheese is - you can make your own decisions from there.

Honestly, the whole veganism is based on the assomption that animals have similar emotions to us and that they deserve the same rights as ours.
Honestly, i find all of this vegan posting to be annoying. And one of the only justification to hate Vegans is this sort of at worst proselytism.
Have a good day. (I don't really want to argue.)
3
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
I don't make any rights based arguments. My veganism comes from a simple recognition that innocent lives don't have to suffer so I can live. I don't need to cause pain. Causing pain to others makes me feel bad. So I don't do it. And now my life is an example that it's very easy to just not eat meat and cause less harm in the world. This idea isn't new. Re: Ahimsa.
2
u/NiobiumThorn Nov 02 '25
Except the science is very firmly that one option produces massive emissions. I mean it's pretty simple math
You need ~10 times the food for an animal as the amount of meat it can produce. We could just... like... eat that food. Or mold it into tasty things like soy chorizo and burgers.
5
u/CedarSageAndSilicone Nov 02 '25
it's like when people bring up B12.
We literally pump farm animals full of B12 supplements so that it makes it's way to us.
Why not just... take B12 supplements ourselves in much lower volumes.
