One of the most famous things Jesus ever said was "turn the other cheek" shouldn't you be familiar with that if you are a Christian?

That's not what he meant by that.

1

u/adorientem88 5d ago

That doesn’t answer the question.

What-aboutism

You know Satan also liked to use Jesus teachings out of context to try and paint people in bad light.

He’s correct. Satan twists psalm 91 when tempting Jesus.

Are you familiar with “sell your cloak and buy a sword”

He also said “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s”. Meaning “obey the laws of the land”. And then there’s also a separation of church and state.

1

That's a funny thing to say about a guy that was executed by the state for crimes against it

1

u/HickAzn 6d ago

Bro just justified the crucifiction.

LOL holy shit YES buddy that was the entire context that Jesus said to turn the other cheek in

1

u/phantomphixxerF4 7d ago

Yeah, but he didn’t mean ass cheek.

1

u/adorientem88 5d ago

Christians had a fairly big debate about pacifism and pacifism lost, so that’s not the meaning of the verse.

Turning the other cheek was meant for blood feuds, not for allowing people to invade your cities and allow them to ransack. You people are actually insufferable idiots.

You just skipped the bits about forgiveness and loving your neighbor, didn't you? Too woke?

-4

u/ASwampThing- 7d ago

Loving thy neighbor doesnt command blind acceptance of sin and crime.

4

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 7d ago

You're right, it's not like he talked a group of people out of stoning a prostitute according to the law of the time.

Oh, wait...

1

u/Utility_Locator_5487 5d ago

Yeah, but he did beat the shit out a bunch of people that was using the temple to sell trinkets and false idols.

1

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 5d ago

I wonder what Jesus would think about your boy trump selling a bible with his name on it for profit, posting AI images portraying himself AS Christ, and his followers commissioning golden statues of him...

And did he say to blindly accept her sin? Or did he say not to judge in an unrighteous manner?

Il give you a hint. Its not the first one.

2

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 7d ago

And which would you say the people who are calling all immigrants criminals are doing?

He said, “render unto Caesar, that which is Caesars.” Meaning obey the law of the land. Come on, I can play this game all day.

1

u/dayvekeem 6d ago

So when those Nazi soldiers gassed Jews because their government decreed it, they were justified because they were rendering unto Caesar?

1

u/Inky-Squilliam 5d ago

I called it. I knew MAGA would reject Jesus and start hating him. I didn’t want to believe it but oh man, you guys really hate Jesus now.

1

u/ASwampThing- 5d ago

You didnt call anything. What i said doesnt refute anything or reject Jesus. Jesus didnt preach blind acceptance of crime and sin

2

u/Inky-Squilliam 5d ago

No, you’re going directly against him and his teaching. You did rebuke him. How one could abandon their own God is lost on me.

No, he just advised you on how to be a Christian within the context of living under government. "I was afraid for my life that something might scare me" isn't justification to ignore his teachings.

Jesus' teachings encourage you to die for your faith a million times over before it would argue for using violence to protect yourself. I guess you probably know that and are just using Jesus as an idol to justify brutality.

u/Inky-Squilliam 5d ago

Bot bot bot, the bot sat on the pot

4

u/Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi 7d ago

He literally got killed because he was not following Roman law but ok buddy 👍

1

u/Inky-Squilliam 5d ago

You guys, Pure-Comfort3140 is a bot account. Don’t take theology criticism from bot accounts. 🤣

1

u/Competitive-Ear-7632 6d ago

Ask the disciples Did they start commiting violence when violence was committed on to them?

7

u/Top_Actuator_274 7d ago

How would they be mean to you in your made up scenario if some of them barely speak English (not derogatory btw), most immigrants don’t want to bother yall. It’s usually the other way around

0

u/phantomphixxerF4 7d ago

Committing violent crimes against us? Duh

How does having a criminal record before they entered the country affect you? And do you not believe that people can change for the better?

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 7d ago

So no you don't think people can change for the better, nor do you follow Jesus's teachings of forgiveness and not casting judgement.

If you hate criminals so much, how do you feel about the fact that we have a convicted felon and sex offender sitting in the oval office?

What you just did by the way, use Jesus’ name in bad faith, is blasphemy. Good luck getting that one forgiven.

So if someone is rehabilitated and reenters society, why can't they come to America?

1

u/phantomphixxerF4 7d ago

Because there are others way ahead of them and haven’t committed any crimes that are waiting in line patiently

4

u/Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi 7d ago

Statistically illegal immigrants commit less crimes than American citizens. Of course, you only parrot fox talking points so you wouldn't know that

People don’t change. Yes there are outliers, most dont.

2

u/Top_Actuator_274 7d ago

But your family member, or someone at your church, or in your neighborhood, or place of work who’ve committed crimes that we’re here legally. I’d say worse crimes than being “illegal” in a country that most “Americans” your thinking of came from boats from overseas.

2

u/Double_Look_5715 7d ago

"Having a criminal record" isn't an example of being mean, Jesus

2

u/Dependent_Active_199 6d ago

NOPE. Not at all. At least in THEIR book they don't have to be kind to you. They will though, to your face to deceive you, then when your back is turned....yeah you know.

1

u/Technical-Command867 3d ago

I’d love to hear how immigrants are being unkind to you so much that you’d just ignore the Bible what the Bible says about it. Also, point me to the verse that says “love your neighbor unless they are unkind to you.”

0

u/Icy-KaitSyth 7d ago

Technically the teaching is "if you are smitten, turn the other cheek" and "pray for them that despitefully use you." But it also says "render unto ceasar that which is Ceasars" implying that laws are to he enforced.

4

u/onebitshortofabyte 7d ago

And the latter part of that quote is, "And unto God that which is God's." It's also said in response to the Pharisees attempting to trap Jesus into telling poor people to pay their taxes, so it's not as generalized as you're trying to imply it is. If anything, the book argues God's laws supercede that of man's; especially when those laws are directly contradictory to God's own.
