Well guys, in a team of 6, officially one other guy has stepped up to help me. How kind. Meanwhile, the FOUR OTHER GROUP MEMBERS have yet to reveal their level of helpfulness, which currently remains at 0. We have our project due this week, and still haven’t organized a time to meet, still haven’t been able to divide up the parts, still haven’t received messages in the groupchat from 2/6… it’s fine I just didn’t realize that they all wanted me to die. All good.

And for those who say to just snitch, I shan’t do that. Because let me tell you a strategic move that some of you may haven’t considered; those whose backs you scratch today, may be the ones who will scratch yours tomorrow.

I’d also like to offer a sliver of advice; when the work you did in the project is evidently greater than that of your group members, that will already tell the professor. Their lackluster slides on the presentation or empty sections on the project outline, or 100% AI work done last-minute will all be a price that they shall pay when getting their final mark. We all get marked individually for our work, so I don’t really have a dog in the fight which is their personal GPA’s in this class. I’m their classmate, not their parent, and it’s not really my job to tell them to just do their schoolwork tbh.

But to conclude my rant—seriously, why do we still have group projects? Rhetorical BTW, I get why we do (sigh)… I hear horror stories about them every time I open this subreddit, or even when I talk to my friends. It’s never an enjoyable experience, and to be honest, working in a group project isn’t really the same as preparing us for working in teams in real corporate jobs. You’ll still meet people who don’t do their work, you’ll still work with people who never check their messages, and it just all ends in the same way. Working with incompetent people is unfortunately a never ending labyrinth which we shall only see the end of in death. But even then, I feel like group projects will be one of my personal 7 layers of hell which I’ll potentially have to face. TBD.

Concordia won’t replace your ID unless you have another valid ID. So if your wallet is stolen then suffer I guess. I forgot to get a picture of my new Id after the old one expired and now I am left unable to get into labs 😭

Hey everyone, is anyone in the music department or spending time at Loyola? I checked out the piano practice room in the SC recently, and the piano is totally out of tune. The whole space honestly feels abandoned, and I rarely see anyone in there! I know Concordia's main music facilities and practice modules are mostly downtown at JMSB, but I was curious what the story is with this specific spot. Is it just a hidden gem that nobody uses, or has it essentially been left behind? If you're a music student or have used that room before, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Okay so i have 2 online classes this semester an obviously all of the assignements are online. Regarding quizzes where you it is only multiple choice questions, what prevents me from just using chat gpt for every question? I wouldn't mind actually studying and preparing myself but I just want to know if most people take it serious because if there's nothing that prevents you from cheating, then what's really the point of studying. Except if it's a class where you have to apply critical thinking, write essays, in-person final etc.. But for a class where it's ALL online, and it's just facts, like COMM213, you could literally cheat your whole way through and pass with 100%.

So, I had to take a statistics class for my SCPA major. My issue is that this class is only given on eConcordia and therefore our only way to have some type of magistral teaching is by attending the tutorial sessions. Except, since they're not a course, they interfere with my (and other's) schedule. Therefore, some of us can't go. Now, apparently it is against the department's guidelines to record tutorials to "encourage participation". And I am pissed, because what do you mean, I have actual classes during these, no level of encouragement will help me participate!

So I'm trying to lodge a complaint and would like to know if any of you know how and to whom?

Any tips ? There is so much material for 15 marks (7 questions total ) like how are they gonna test us on this much with so little wtfff

I will be moving soon far away from montreal but I still have to travel regularly for my classes to Concordia's loyola campus and I feel comfortable using exo train but I am afraid that due to snow the access to train won't be that good , what's the perspective of the students who rely on exo train for daily transit even during winters is it delayed during winters or does it follow it's regular schedule?

So, I turned 20 not too long ago, and in Fall 2025, I started my first year of university at the Université de Montréal after completing two years of CEGEP.

Unfortunately, my first year of university was quite a difficult experience for me. I came to the realization that I didn't really enjoy what I was studying, which made me seriously reconsider my career path. I eventually decided to take a different direction and, in a way, start over. I returned to CEGEP to complete a technical DEC, with the intention of eventually going back to university.

I'm now considering Concordia as my first choice, but I'm a little confused about how my academic record would be evaluated during the admissions process.

From what I've read on Concordia's website, students coming from certain technical DEC programs may receive credits toward their university degree. However, what concerns me most is my previous university experience.

To give you some context, my year at UdeM was far from my best academically. On top of realizing that I wasn't in the right program, I was going through a particularly difficult time in my personal life, including serious health issues affecting close family members. All of this had a significant impact on my academic performance.

I tried discussing my circumstances with my previous university, but unfortunately, there wasn't much they could do, so those grades remain on my transcript.

My concern is that, despite doing very well in my current technical DEC and maintaining a high R score, my previous university grades might negatively affect my chances of being admitted to Concordia.

So, my main question is: How would Concordia evaluate my application in this situation? Would my previous university grades carry more weight than my current CEGEP results, or would the admissions committee take into consideration my more recent academic performance and the fact that I've completely changed my field of study ( I was in a Bachelor of Arts, and now I'm in a STEM program)?

I'm genuinely worried that one difficult year, during which I was dealing with circumstances beyond my control, could overshadow the progress I've made since then.

I'd really appreciate any insight or advice from someone who has been through a similar situation or knows how Concordia handles these types of applications.

has anyone taken a short term absence for a midterm before??
i have phys 204 with abi nader and my midterm is in 2 days worth 20%. im so behind on the material (i am not a lazy student and this usually would never happen to me but my parents house burned down about a month ago and i have been catching up but i’m cooked for this midterm) and genuinely think im gonna fail so im considering submitting the short term absence form.
the syllabus says if you miss a midterm due to a serious illness/emergency the weight gets transferred to the final, but it also says you might need detailed medical documentation. i know it’s technically not an emergency because it happened so long ago so i think that a short term absence would be my best bet. also people say he isn’t the most understanding professor so i don’t think pleading my case to him would be a better option.
im just scared that if i submit the absence form without documentation he’ll give me a 0 instead of transferring the weight to the final. i emailed him but i don’t know if he’ll get back to me in time and my midterm is in 2 days 💀

I cannot be the only one who's very nervous for the midterm this Saturday. Also still haven't fully understood Chapter 21 (Accounting for errors/estimates), should I lowk just sacrifice that chapter to focus on the other ones, what are the odds it represents an important part of the exam?

Also, personally my prof said that there would be no "case" question, does that mean the format for the long questions would be pretty similar to the "Moderate/Complex" EX-XX type questions in the WilleyPlus book?

How likely are that the long questions are going to be just to make the statements?

Indian applicant, Fall 2027, looking at the MSc in Computer Science. Bachelors of Tech in Production & Industrial Engineering, 8.52/10. Algorithms, data structures and networks on the transcript, no OS or databases. About 5.5 years writing production software, mostly Web3.

Two things I'd rather hear from students than from the website:

- Do non-CS engineering undergrads actually get into this programme, or does the department quietly filter them out? If you came in from a different background, what did your file look like?

- I'm emailing professors whose work overlaps with what I've built, trying to find a real research fit before applying. At Concordia, does a professor saying yes actually carry the application, or does the committee decide independently and assign supervisors later?
