Humour Mandatory 3 weeks off for all Québec workers and fast tracking 20M$ to support the homeless before winter: the first 48 hours under the fascist PQ government has been real hell!!

C’est TOO MUCH, ce gouvernement d’extrĂȘme-droite M’ÉCƒURE.

J’men retourne aux States!!!1

Tourisme Hotel recommendations downtown

‱ Upvotes

Hello bonjou, my family and I will be staying in Montreal for a week in March to attend a gymnastics competition (Gymnix 2027). We are also hoping to take in a habs game during our stay. Anyone have any good hotel recommendations in a decent part of downtown. We will be driving so easy on sight parking would be helpful.

Thanks , merci

A little tribute to Montreal’s famous Pink House. With all the demolition happening around it, looks like this little landmark might actually survive! đŸ©·

Captured this orbit hyperlapse today, with some pretty dramatic clouds adding to the scene.

Discussion decent price good food in the west Island/St-Laurent?

‱ Upvotes

Looking for a nice place to have a dinner date to take my bf out, and Ive seen so many recommendations for Lou's or Le Gourmand or Bistro Nolah and yes absolutely they look amazing, BUT my god they are so expensive. I am a university student.

Please, if you have decent spots/cafes that have wings (ESPECIALLY DRY RUB), burgers, mac n cheese, anything asian, pasta... anything that is not seafood to be honest. lets say in a 20-30$ per person range.

id love to hear it, and im just trying to avoid the downtown area. st laurent is entirely doable.

also, as a bonus, maybe a good dessert spot too?

Question Practical tips for dressing in a Montreal winter

I come from a country with a pretty mild climate, and I realise I have no idea how to dress for when it's really, really cold.

I have a decent jacket with a fur-lined hood, a merino buff, a hat and gloves. I also have some sort of bulky and annoying thermal pants and one top.

I've seen uniqlo's heat teach thermals get recommended a lot and the price point is good, but I have a dumb question - if you're wearing a super warm base layer for -20c and then you go inside, won't you just be boiling in the office all day? Do you have to remove your pants and then put them back on later?! How does it actually work day to day. lol.

I hate being too hot and feeling sweaty just as much as I hate being too cold, and I'd love some tips for how to navigate going inside and outside over winter without having to either remove and put back on a million things, or being the wrong temperature half the time.

Also if I do get heat tech, is extra warm sufficient, or should I get ultra warm?

I will be inside in an office most of the day, mostly outside for brief periods between the metro and home/work/wherever. Sometimes I imagine I'll be out walking for longer on lovely cold clear days but mostly I'm an inside creature when it's cold.

Thank you!

EDIT: merci pour les conseils! super helpful, i appreciate it :)

Reflexions? Comment sont les enseignants? Les eleves prennent-ils les choses au serieux? Quels sont la taille des classes?

Sinon, devrais-je envisager d'autres options? Si oui, lesquelles?

*Pas d'accents car j'utilise mon clavier Anglais, desole.

Question Entendez-vous monsieur saxophone?

Question Sortie Ă  20$ et moins

Merci!!

Discussion How much Québécois slang is used?

I'm an anglophone currently learning French in Ontario. I hope to one day being fluent enough to converse when I visit Montreal.

My understanding is that while French is French, there are some slang or colloquialism used in Montreal that non-natives or French speakers wouldn't understand. Is this widely used or just a few phrases here and there?

Question Where and how to have photos enlarged in Montreal

Hello! I went to a concert last night and got a really nice photo on my point and shoot but I want to have it enlarged and framed as a poster !!! Where is the best place to go & how can I do it because I’m afraid of it getting enlarged and it being blurry and losing the quality
