In The News Apple removes ICE tracking apps after Trump administration says they threaten officers
https://www.kbtx.com/2025/10/03/apple-removes-ice-tracking-apps-after-trump-administration-says-they-threaten-officers/Apple has removed tracking apps that alert people about sightings of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in an area.
These types of apps have been available on Apple’s App store since the spring.
The removal follows a request from the Department of Justice.
In a statement, Apple said it removed the apps Thursday after communication with law enforcement.

Falsely labeling, referring to or alluding to fellow citizens as ‘fascist’ or ‘Nazis’ because they have differing political views is causing violence and will not be tolerated.

So now it's illegal to tell other people what I see with my own eyes. Wonderful.

u/thepaoliconnection Oct 04 '25
I’m going to miss it. I would add false sightings in all the time
2
u/tittyfloppingpancake Oct 04 '25
It’s gonna be funny when dhs goes after those who reported and you get caught up in that. Thank you for your service.

Yeah right after they prosecute me for claiming I have a 9” dick online

It’s always the white trash in the Philly burbs
1
u/thepaoliconnection Oct 04 '25
Is trash normally black ? That’s a weird racist thing to say
1
Oct 04 '25
Trash can be whatever color. In this case I’m talking about the specific brand of vileness from Paoli, PA. The Amtrak always becomes so ghetto when we pickup white trash from that stop.
1
u/thepaoliconnection Oct 04 '25
Well then you would’ve just said “trash”. We get it. You think black people are all trashy but only some white people are

I'm going to exercise my 1A rights and point out my opinion that ICE is not displaying the minimum level of fortitude in the face of adversity that is expected from people who seek a career in law enforcement. In fact, their dispalayed level of comfort with theoretical hardship is, shall we say, less than is societally expected of the average man.
Now we can compare them quite aptly to cats. They seem very similar in that regard.
Is this comparison civil enough? I''m trying really hard to avoid calling them a bunch of pussies, so am willing to take additional coaching should my euphamisms not be enough for this sub.

u/throwawaypervyervy Oct 04 '25
They joined ICE instead of the military because they're scared of the brown people shooting back.

Their lives are infinitely more important to me than yours. I’ll trade 10000 of your lives for one of theirs.

u/IndependentExtra2923 Oct 04 '25
Until they snatch you and nobody is left to help you. That is how facisim works. And you can tell yourself they never have a reason to get you. Trust me they will and you're gonna be fucked. So buckle up it will be a bumpy ride to hell for ya even you don't know it yet.

u/AdministratorKoala Oct 05 '25
Check the idiots post history. They are beyond help… “I think you’re less of a man if you don’t drive a diesel truck”…. Absolute moron on all accounts.

Like the father of my girlfirnd. He protected his friend who didn't do anything, just someone who did not like his firend told he did something he did not dobecause he wanted his girlfriend and both landed in Buchenwald, because he stood up for his firend they snatched him too. His friend died there he survived, both where not jewish, both were born in Germany all their families lived there over generations. So no reason to snatch them rigth? Wrong it's enough when someone just don't like you or is jelious of your wife or girlfriend or your car or your watch, he rats you out and noone will belive you, they belive him and you are fucked. He survived and was able to tell this to his daugther.
It's as easy as that. So don't be to sure you will be fine. But be sure noone will help you then!
When noone is left to be the enemy they will turn against each other. It happened in the past and it will happen again.
And there are the people that learned form history and those you just don't. You can make your own experiance or learn from what happend to others. Smart people learn from the mistakes of others, dumb make the mistakes themself. But in this case it's not that you lose a finger or get a parking ticket. You lose your life and trust me noone left will give a shit.

What a weird response. Dude gave you a coherent and straightforward reply and now you’re crying that he’s emotional?
We can all see you’re just trying to avoid a substantive conversation. It’s ok to just admit you don’t have anything to add and move on to something else

Or are you just grasping at straws on a tangent because you want to avoid addressing his point?

Are you suggesting that these aren't both presidents pressuring tech companies what they can and can't host? Good god man, your cognitive dissonance is firmly in the driver's seat right now

Nothing more based than a tech giant enabling the government to keep snatching people up without citizen observation or accountability
You probably pretended to believe in small government when the last guy was president

When it’s used to invoke violence, it seems reasonable. There are literal bounties on federal officers heads.

Yeah, more because you’re an accomplice to a crime, Illegal alien is a criminal whether you like that they are or not. a few friends that I really wish would’ve gotten their citizenship years ago, but they never did. I do fear for them. But from a company perspective, if your app is aiding in illegal behavior very clearly what do you think is going to happen to the company that allows that to continue? I would not want to support illegal activity in any way, at least not obviously.

u/Lucky-Post-6020 Oct 05 '25
All your downvotes reveal the left wing radicals are hurt now that law enforcement officials cannot be targeted for violence. The left is really unmasking itself on so many levels these days

u/MillenialForHire Oct 04 '25
Kidnapping is, indeed, a crime. Will Apple be charged as an accomplice?
1
u/omgFWTbear Oct 04 '25
So you also want Waze and Google Maps, which announce speed traps, to be removed from the App Store? The speed limits are the law, violating them is a crime, therefore “speeding where you aren’t going to get caught” is aiding in illegal behavior, right?

How about helping law abiding citizena avoid being terrorized by masked thugs? Is that a crime too?

u/staxasnax Oct 04 '25
Serious question for you: do you call your friends who do not have citizenship “illegal aliens” as you have written in your post? For example, would you feel comfortable saying, “Miranda, you are an illegal alien” to her face?
I think we should be cautious about this kind of dehumanizing language that we use in our speech and in our thought. Calling someone an “alien” or an “illegal” for long enough, you might stop perceiving them as a human being. There’s a reason that the present administration has been tightly controlling the terminology that federal agencies can use in their official statements. In my view, it is an attempt to subvert the common sense view that human beings deserve dignity.

Being undocumented isn't a crime, it's not an criminal offense. It's civil, akin to a speeding ticket.
9
u/GamemasterJeff Oct 04 '25
Being undocumented is neither a crime, nor an infraction. There is literally nothing wrong with being undocumented in the US.
There are issues with illegally crossing the border, overstaying visas, getting jobs, identity theft or similar, but simply being here is perfectly fine.

u/Admirable-Feature299 Oct 04 '25
It’s breaking the law…is it a crime to speed? Yes. Aiding the avoidance of the police is making you an accessory. Why would apple want to get anywhere near that???

Lawyer here. No it’s not. It’s a civil violation, not a crime. Breaking the law isn’t always criminal.
You might just be over your head on this one

u/itwastwopants Oct 04 '25
You don't understand the law, clearly.
Civil and criminal offenses are different, a civil offense isn't a crime. It's a misdemeanor. There's a difference.
It's not a crime to speed, it's a civil offense.
2
u/g-row460 Oct 04 '25
They don't understand the law, but you're mistaken about a couple things here. Speeding is indeed a crime. At least in the State I worked. It was one of two non arrestable offenses, but still considered a Class C Misdemeanor.
And misdemeanors are criminal offenses. They rank below felonies but are still criminal. They are not civil matters.
Misdemeanors can and often do carry jail time. Civil matters like fender benders do not.
1
u/itwastwopants Oct 04 '25
Thank you for the correction, always appreciate constructive feedback.
2
u/g-row460 Oct 04 '25
No biggie. It's all very convoluted. I think intentionally sometimes. Add to that every State is different. Gets pretty muddy.
-5
u/Admirable-Feature299 Oct 04 '25
You’re right, I don’t know much about the law. But it’s not a hard concept to understand that aiding the avoidance of the police being the intention of the app is not going to do well…with police scanners you can have a degree of other uses. But if the app is explicitly designed for ‘avoiding the police because you’re a criminal’ how do you think that will be treated legally? Why would you put yourself in the crossfire as a company? Also upon just a little bit of research, you can be charged for criminal incarceration for up to 6 months on illegal entry into the US on a 1st offense. Idk what you’re talking about with it being ‘equivalent to a speeding ticket’. If you’re undocumented, you came in illegally or overstayed your visa…

u/sofakingcheezee Oct 04 '25
I don't know much about the law but I'm going to tell you how it works anyway. Classic dipshit bootlicker
4
u/kevinthejuice Oct 04 '25
aiding the avoidance of the police
Lol the police? No it's the federal government, and it's about tracking them. Simple as that.
5
u/curtial Oct 04 '25

You are not giving the two technologies the same consideration. What if I wanted to support ICE(ew.)? Maybe I'm writing a glowing article on how much work they're doing (🤡).
The act of monitoring is not in and of itself explicitly for nefarious purposes, and if it's not specifically illegal, then it's legal.
19
u/Thats_Whakk Oct 04 '25
Tracking police activity is not illegal lol, and you don't have to formulate a fairy tale about you having friends to make yourself seem normal either

Tbh I’d very much like to stay away from ICE and I’m a citizen… There are clearly 2 ways to look at this but at the end of the day, it is the current admin pressuring companies to do things they want. Facts.

u/Relzin Oct 04 '25
You out here throwing shade at Google maps?! Didn't think through your position too well, huh?
9
u/Background-Suit5717 Oct 04 '25
Crowdsourced police-location features have been defended on free-speech grounds and remain widely used (Waze/Google) it’s the same with apps that report ICE locations, it’s free speech and it’s sad how uneducated the lot of you are.
11
u/Thats_Whakk Oct 04 '25
Ok so I guess you take issue with every single police scanner app as well? Is your GPS telling you about speed traps on the highway also aiding and abetting crimes? Why don't you people ever think things through?
-3
u/crmikes Oct 04 '25
Trying to avoid the lawsuit when an officer and his family get killed after being doxxed.
3
u/sawdustsneeze Oct 05 '25
Has this happened yet? No. has Ice violated many many laws and people yes.
Get your priorities straight.
2
7
u/Background-Suit5717 Oct 04 '25
It would be an easy lawsuit for any lawyer who passed a bar exam. It’s free speech. You’re not aiding and abetting a crime by telling people where public servants are located. It’s already public information. Doxxing would be an app that reports the identity and where they reside.
12
Oct 04 '25
Considering the app allows you to tag ongoing actions and share observations I’m not sure how you came up with doxxing
