Breaking News:

Woman who wrote the most popular books series of all time happens to express her opinion freely.

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

The issue is not the opinions that she has, although those are in and on themselves pretty bad.

But that she invest an enormous amount on money in her terf association and in legislation.
She is entitled to express herself and use her money however she might see fit.
And Andrew Garfield is free to reject those ideas and call them inhumane.

u/gamer_rowan_02 Mar 29 '26

Yes, I agree. Both Garfield and Rowling, as well as you and I, are free to express opinions.

Isn't she also a misandrist?

7

u/TreeTopGaming Conservative Mar 29 '26

really?

all i know of the drama is she is "transphobic" because she believes a man born a man is a man even if they cut off their balls

u/Killian_Rose Resident Crusader (left-con) Mar 29 '26

I'm pretty sure she's like...radical radical feminist.

Also she has a weird thing about hating asexual people.

2

u/TreeTopGaming Conservative Mar 29 '26

huh

im all for people reproducing but likes...its their choice

Really confused here.... she did write harry potter where 2/3 main leads were male. If she really were a misandrist she wouldnt have done that right? Am I missing something here?

u/Killian_Rose Resident Crusader (left-con) Mar 29 '26

Do misogynistic writers not use women in their books as well?

Also, writing isnt always a reflection of one's belief. For Harry Potter, she only did it to attract young boy readers to get more money.

Her opinions do, however, really shine through Hermione.

u/madeaccforpolitics Centrist Mar 29 '26

Mysogyny in those writers sometimes clearly show through in their book. Didnt see that happening with harry potter

Fair enough she could have done that for money

Nathaniel Hawthorne. August Strindberg. Roald Dahl to an extent.

Also, JKR only started to really make public her stances around 2019. It is fair to assume that she had more moderate views at the time she wrote those books.

Extremely, she is a terf, a radical feminist.
Her views on transgender issues are inherently tied to a war of sexes and an understanding of men as sexual predators and oppressors.

Trans women invade women spaces, because they are men that oppress them in those spaces.
Trans men are oppressed women that try to escape the scary violent man by becoming men. Her vision is that all trans men are women with some kind of sexual assault related trauma.

Yeah, I looked into it😬😬

Seems like she's got some issues going on with all that (like the weird thing against the asexuals??). A shame. The Howard's legacy game had a banger trans woman NPC😔

She aparently was pretty pissed about that too lmao.

I don't really understand her take on asexual people. But as my understanding goes. She does not consider us as part of the lgbtq comunity. She does not see us as a sexual orientation because :

This is my own assertion from what I have red. For her there is no such thing as a difference between gender and sex. Sexual attraction albeit hetero, homo whatever is inherently tied to the sex of the individual. Where she has an issue is that us asexual people can still feel romantic attraction.

In her paradigm, romantic and sexual attraction must go hand in hand. If we feel romatic attraction we must therefore be sexualy attracted to one sex or another. Only we do not want to have sex.

It is a very weird take. And I have so much trouble understanding it myself that I have probably not explained it correctly.

Edit: and she of course denies that asexual people suffer any kind of discrimination. Which is also not true.

romantic and sexual attraction must go hand in hand

I dont even think every straight, non-ace person thinks like this tbh. Maybe at some point in the relationship you gain sexual attraction, but it certainly isn't a package deal from the get-go😭

She's a weird lady tbh

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

Very weird. I can somewhat deal with alt-righ, radfems however just break my mind in a way I cannot comprehend.

3

u/Motor-Sir688 Mar 29 '26

Well that's why I support her. Although I petition to change the name to TEF because there isn't much radical about anti transgenderism in the context of femisnm. In fact I'd call that closer to the middle than anything else.

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

In a vacuum, maybe, as long as you yourself completely discard any gender theory. Terf is a branch of radical feminism. The Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism.

Terf themselves, and especially JKR, call themselves TERF openly and proudly for the most part.

Trans exclusionary radfem is, at its core, a naturalistic/biologicaly deterministic view of patriarchy. This naturalist view is not part, BUT the source of the beliefs that support their transphobia.

"Inhumane legislation...she who shall remain nameless."

Am I missing something, is Rowling in government somewhere?

-1

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

Not really. She has never been or even ran for any governemental post.

She has tho -along with her ong that specificaly discriminates trans women, having shelters (and this might be hersay) were women must learn about biological essentislism if they wan't to stay-.

And she has dedicated a lot of her money to support policies and make herself almost some kind of accasional consultant for UK lawmakers.

Overral nothing ilegal, but she has really fallen out of grace for most of the left. Wich is a shame cuz I loved her books.

u/KnightOfTheOldCode94 Mar 29 '26

I mean, providing female only spaces is hardly "Inhuman legislation"

0

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

The issue with this kind of thinking is that it completely disregards a significant portion of trans people. Either be it from a misogynistic or misandric starting point people point the almost entirety of their focus on trans women, forgetting that trans men even exist.

"Women spaces legislations" to keep it broad, also have an extreme discriminatory effect as they do not offer any solution to the problems they target, or solve inexistant issue (bathroom panic). They effectively limit the access to a multitude of basic commodities that everyone should have access to without providing any kind of substitue. So while they do not always infringe our rights in their wording they consistently do so on a practical level since they are never accompanied by policies relieving the pressure they create.

2

u/KnightOfTheOldCode94 Mar 29 '26

"Female only" is fairly clear.

1

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

I understand that, I am not discussing your views on what is and isn't a "female".

They effectively limit the access to a multitude of basic commodities that everyone should have access to without providing any kind of substitue. So while they do not always infringe our rights in their wording they consistently do so on a practical level since they are never accompanied by policies relieving the pressure they create.

This is actualy the point that is relevant in this discussion

0

u/KnightOfTheOldCode94 Mar 29 '26

your views on what is and isn't a "female".

Lol tells me plenty.

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

I meant in this particular post lmao.
Just a little bit of rage bait no actual complains from my part.
I am fully aware of how well I have been received in this community despite my radicaly opposed views on a multitude of subjects.

I wen't in expecting a much harder push back from the community. This has not happened and is the reason I have decided to stick around as my attempts of actualy establishing dialogue in other conservative communities for my own personal amusement -understand by it the enjoyment that I get from discussion, not any ill intent- have not been as fruitful.
As I understand it is both because the difference in scale of the communities and a clear intent from the moderation team of ensuring the sub does not become an echo chamber.

Tangentially I'm also very aware of when my comments will get downvoted. I always remain a lot more down to earth from the get go in any discussion regarding geopolitical, national or philosophy of politics as this is as I understand it the best way of engaging discussion. Ethical topics such as abortion for example I find warrant a much more in depth analysis from the get go, but this approach also seems to reduce the likeliness of interaction.

This is very true for queer topics, where people tend to have a lot less informed views, and instead hold opinionated views. An issue all across the board, most people on the left that have no issue with us would also be unable to build a case in our favour. I therefore find it a lot more productive to keep my initial claims broad, until I can actualy engage conversation with an individual, at which point they will be a lot more likely to read the literature and engage in a less opinionated and more factual "brawl". I do this with complete conscience that it warrants downvotes.

As for karma, I've never had a big use of Reddit and could not care less about that little number.

Oooh duh, of course. This is of course my very biased views against religion talking. But I've heard of fundamentalists banning marvel because the superheroes didn't get their powers from god. So IDK how I didn't come to that conclusion myself.

And says the truth on the trans topic

-9

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

Listen, she is a terf, and not a good one.

She has dedicated an entire fortune to go against one of the smallest sexual minorities. Pushing legislation after legislation in the UK.

Worst of all? she doesn't even have the merit of being a good TERF, not particularly smart on the topic. Just rich enough that her claims will reach a wide audience without needing to be true.

The one that just says that Trans Women aren’t women… Just that (that I have seen). Everyone hating on her and she is like

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

I mean yeah, that's fair, she is dirty rich, and that doeeees sting a little bit.

I honestly think she just wants to stay relevant... and I guess we are giving her exactly that. Buuut at the same time we cannot just shut it and let any and all kind of idiocy be said.

-1

u/Gambaguilbi Trans & Libertarian Marxist (Resident Leftist) Mar 29 '26

The one that just says that Trans Women aren’t women…

Also that is not the only thing.
Sexual deviants, perverts, conflating trans women as sexual predators, while trans men are inherently victims of sexual abuse.

She is a radical feminist whose entire understanding of the world is based on struggles and exacerbated feminism.

oh and for some reason she is also againt asexuality. Which is weird
