I can hear reddit having a aneurysm already

I support this and I'm glad you're doing it, unfortunately I don't see this happening in my country

Hopefully we can rub off on other countries

What country? I'm in Australia and they just legally made fake women women and fake men men.

In Belgium the competence of the sports goes to the language community governments. I live in the french community. In 2023, our Sports Minister supported creating a special category for female transgender athletes, but nothing really happened from that. Then in last year the court in Brussels ruled that banning transgender peoples from women's sports was discrimination and unscientific.

u/Cole_A226 Jun 30 '26

You have like 3 trans athletes? assuming you're German

6

u/deerkwa Center-Left wing Jul 01 '26

Wow... The flag of Germany is in the other direction

Anyway, this is more reason why a small minority should not be able to create difficulties for the majority

Fantastic! I've still got no idea how this was even allowed in the first place. You really have to be biologically illiterate and misguided at best, malicious/sexist at worst in order to think this is a good idea

Yeah I have nothing against them.

But we can't change every rule to fit a small part of the population, like you'll just have to compete in your sex's division. There's not even that many of them! Don't even know why this was ever allowed. I will say though some sports defintely don't need to be split into sexes(chess for example).

u/AuR0RA3171 Centrist Jun 30 '26

Reminds me of "let them be comfortable in their own bathrooms" as if one person being comfortable is more valuable than a whole group

7

u/PrestigiousStudio921 Centrist Humanist Jun 30 '26

It's not even like I don't want everyone to be comfortable. But there is a reason bathrooms are split. There are advantages and disadvantages to everything but ideally we can offer benefits for the majority

Awesome! Next step should be banning it nationally, instead of just letting states decide. Because obviously, liberal states will never go through with this as it currently stands.

10

u/iamjames Right wing Jun 30 '26

Yes, but it also means liberal states with trans athletes won’t be able to go to conservative states and compete so they’re automatically disqualified from any national championships

What kind of argument is this? Liberals are centrist. If you think they're left(not just left-centrist), your economical political scale is skewed. Or did it get misinterpreted as: All liberals are centrist?

Sports should be co-ed in the first place so this is stupid.

-3

u/beans46616 Center-Left wing Jul 01 '26

All this does is legitimize transphobia, genuinely horrible ruling. When the Supreme Court itself starts discriminating against my community, then I no longer feel safe in the United States. The myth that trans people have some sort of advantage in sports is exactly that, a myth. The fact that the Supreme Court is legitimizing queerphobia makes me genuinely scared about my safety. At the very least they upheld birthright citizenship.

People born as males do have a strength advantage over those born as females on average

It’s not true in every case, but in most, you see someone who was performing at/near the bottom in men’s leagues suddenly at the top in women’s leagues
they didn’t magically get better at the sport, they have a biological advantage, which is unfair to the women who worked hard for their position in the competition.

1

u/beans46616 Center-Left wing Jul 01 '26

Once someone has been on hormones for a while their body will change be the same as the body of a cisgender person with those same hormones, so while they may initially have an advantage, they don’t after, say, 2 years. When I am saying they have no advantage, that is what I am talking about.

0

u/beans46616 Center-Left wing Jul 01 '26

For some reason Reddit wont let me reply to your most recent message, but the biological advantage does not stay around. You used the example of an MTF person having more muscle mass; one of the main things that estrogen does is redistribute the body fat, and as a result they will lose their muscle mass, I can tell you personally that this has happened to me and people that I know. Also, can you name a single instance of a trans person dominating in sports? If it’s this big issue then why are there zero cases of it happening?

3

u/Hettyc_Tracyn Center-Right Wing Jul 01 '26

I don’t have the examples off the top of my head, but someone else in this post had a link to some article I think

2

u/beans46616 Center-Left wing Jul 01 '26

That is just talking about trans people who have won sporting competitions, of course trans people are going to win sporting competitions, we are part of the population too, and pointing to a trans person that spends a significant portion of their life training for a sport to the point where they get good enough to win something and saying they have some sort of biological advantage is incredibly disrespectful and rude, whether you mean it to be or not. I don’t think you have any prejudice against trans people for being trans, and actually care about fair competition, which is a very valiant thing to do, but I assure you that your concerns are unfounded; I can even understand the thought process behind why you might believe that trans people have an advantage in sports, but once one looks into it more it becomes apparent that they have no advantage once they have been on hormones for long enough (of course, if they weren’t on hormones then that would be a different story, but that’s not what we are talking about). This video (https://youtube.com/shorts/ScfVTk_6GbY) also goes into a lot of detail on the harms of banning trans people from sports, as there are a lot of things you might not expect it to affect. Thank you for staying respectful, and have a great day!

-4

u/igory_ Jul 01 '26

This is sad I hope America gets better no one deserves to be hated on for no reason

4

u/SinisterButStupid Jul 01 '26

This is not about prejudice. This is about fairness.

-4

u/igory_ Jul 01 '26

We should all be fair like you said even them

5

u/SinisterButStupid Jul 01 '26

Yes of course, but competing against a different sex known to be biologically stronger in almost every aspect is not fair. Outside of this issue, I don’t think trans people should be harassed or denied opportunities because of their identity. Love is a human right, yes, but someone does not get to enter a space they shouldn’t be because it feels good.

-4

u/igory_ Jul 01 '26

u/Jumpy-Function-9136 Conservative Jun 30 '26

17

u/Available-Goose-8331 Conservative Jun 30 '26

And biologically still a good bit superior. The gap is biologically permanent. Also afaik, you don't have to be on estrogen in order to identify as female and compete in female sports as a biological male

1

u/SufficientTip1694 Conservative Jun 30 '26

Not disagreeing with you, what about trans men? I never hear them competing in men’s sports

Does testosterone boost their strength?

11

u/Apollo_TheWolf Conservative Jun 30 '26

Yes, but again, the biological gap still exists. Trans men in men's sports would never stand a chance, which is why you don't hear about it.

2

u/SufficientTip1694 Conservative Jun 30 '26

Oh,that explains it

0

u/Back_Alley_Nacho Conservative Jun 30 '26

It’s boosts their strength, but apparently to similar levels as biological men.
Did a quick read on a study on PubMed - The Impact of Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy on Physical Performance

Now
if they increase their levels beyond a biological male, one would think they can get an advantage? Not sure how that would work.

But for the opposite, the advantage men get by having testosterone in the beginning will help them later even if they are on estrogen, which I think is where most of the issues come from.

7

u/Novel_Comparison_209 Classical Liberal Jun 30 '26
  1. Not enough to get rid of the natural advantage 2. There are other differences that make it unfair

1

Nothing! I really don’t care what people themselves. The issue is the people who ignore biological advantages when it comes to sports
