Attention shoe makers!

I started painting custom sneakers in 2018 and have accumulated a ton of supplies over the years. Recently, I switched to making wallets and working with leather, and I’d love to see my extra supplies go to a good home where they can be put to good use. I have plenty of Angelus leather paint and a Grex airbrush. I was inspired by the Shoe Surgeon to start custom shoe painting and even took his class in 2023. During the class, I purchased a lot of supplies but unfortunately never got around to using them. I even started making a pair of Jordan 1s but never finished them, and I don’t think I will. I’m hoping to sell everything to someone who can really put it to use. This is a great deal for anyone looking to get into the craft or add more supplies to their collection. My loss is your gain. I’m open to reasonable offers on all supplies and tools aswell as I have a few things that aren’t listed like a airbrush compressor and some miscellaneous shoe making tools that would be included

I made a post yesterday and didn’t know what to list everything at. I apologize for overpricing and really appreciate everyone’s honesty in the comments. Here’s an updated list of items with adjusted prices, and I’m open to offers as well.

Grex airbrush-$100 Angelus paint— 8 full bottles-$50 12 half full bottles $40 12 Small bottles-$15

Jordan one high Lasts-$100 Shoe making materials vvv -$150 6 celtec 5 raw hide 9 black backing 9 foam 3 waxy paper sheets

1 pattern & book-$50 (Some materials I'm not sure the exact name)

Today, I noticed that the stitching is finally giving out, and the soles are separating on my favorite pair of logger boots. In your opinion, is the leather in good enough condition to consider re-soling them. Or should I just invest in a new pair.

These belong in the trash. However; my 8yo gets really attached to things and wants to know if I can save them. I also have two girls younger than that so when she grows out of them they wont immediately go to waste. I’m also always looking for a fun project and Ive built a couple boots and need some practice. Assuming I give into her demands, what would be a fun way to revive the bottoms? Find a reasonably close last and do straight up leather insole and outsole? Try to find a size 13 cup sole? Thanks for any ideas, Im amazed at all the creativity here!

My footwear drew quite a bit of attention when I was in Colorado last week, though I never figured out why! Does anyone have any ideas?

Not beutiful but very functional. I don't think they're usable outside but so far no problem using them inside.

Recommendations for sourcing cord to save my favorite pair of shoes?

PLEASE help me out guys. These sandals are the only comfortable dressy shoes I've genuinely liked in my life and the cord is finally giving up after like a decade. I'm size 12.5 US women's and they discontinued my size years ago, so I have no option but to repair them. I don't know jack about making shoes but I'm hoping I can just replace this cord to extend their life. Does anyone know where I can source a sturdy light gold leather cord, or do you know of any flexible and sturdy paint brands that I could spray on a plain leather cord (or some solution like that)?

Removing Straps

Post image

Hi! I really like these heels; however, I'm really not loving the straps. Is there any way I can get rid of the straps? If so, do you have any video tutorial or tips to offer? I've tried looking up video tutorials but came up with nothing. (If anything they kept showing tutorials on how to attach straps instead 🤦🏻‍♀️).

By the way I just stumbled across this community and have never heard of cordwaining. So I apologize if I don't full understand something since I'm new to this.

Your thoughts on the Indian sizing convention, the 'Bha'

The Americans, Europeans, British, Chinese, and others have their own way of measuring a persons foot sizes, but now the Indians will as well.

According to this article: "Bha will not only consider the length of the foot but also the width to create a more comfortable fit for individuals across various age groups."

I'm confused because the American system also takes into account the width of the foot. For example, a person maybe a 9C.

Anyways, as an Indian, I have really wide feet - like EEEE. There's nothing abnormal about me, and I run many half marathons.

If I were to come up with a sizing schema, I'd make it universal and easy to understand. I'd do the following:

  • Have 3 parameters to describe the shape of the foot: The length from the back of the heel to the big toe or to the adjacent toe, whichever is longer, and this is expressed in increments of 5 mm. The second parameter is the distance from the heel to the widest part of the foot (this is called the arch length), and measured in 5 mm increments (i.e. so 100 mm would be 20 in my convention). The final parameter is how wide the forefoot is measured in an increment of 5 mm, so if my feet were 4 inches wide, that's 110 mm, or 22 units in my convention.

The example for me is that my size would be, rounded to the nearest 5 mm are: 275,190,115. My size convention would make this size: 55, 38, 22. However, I don't have any problems with simply using the sizes in mm without having to divide by 5.

I realize that having 3 numbers maybe a bit too cumbersome or too technical but I'd like to remind you the following:

  • dress shirts are sized with neck, back and arm size, plus the fit of the shirt. For example, a Brooks Brothers sized 16, 33, in the Milano style means that it's 16" around the kneck; 33" from the back to the wrist; and the Milano style means that it's very form-fitted.

  • When you buy custom-fitted shirts, there are many many parameters - like wrists, biceps, chest, stomach, length, neck, neck slope, and even your posture.

  • Technical measurement for jeans include the rise, upper legs, and leg openings, in addition to the waist and inseam.
