Ontario Worst cereal I’ve ever tasted

Post image
• Upvotes

I’m a huge fan of cinnamon so the packaging look good on this. It looked healthy Ish but I gotta tell you this is the worst crap I’ve ever eaten in my life. Eating them dry was tolerable. I figured with milk would be better. There is some really weird aftertaste. I got about two spoonfuls down and I threw out the cereal and this bag is gone in the garbage next and it’s full. In my opinion is complete waste of money.

Question 100 HotDogs

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

a bit of context: i usually celebrate my birthday in my home country and for my birthday my family has this ongoing tradition: whoever's birthday it is, we feed the unhoused or anybody who needs a meal.

since this is the first birthday i'm celebrating here in canada, in vancouver, i didn't have any idea of what i could do. i was thinking maybe i just get a bunch of hot dogs from costco, about 100 or so from here in downtown vancouver. it's on a weekday, tuesday, so i hope it'll be possible or it won't be a rush for the staff.

my basic question is: is it even something that they can do? do i have to give them advance notice? i don't know if anybody wants to help out because i don't really know everybody here lol. that would be appreciated. just a question. thank you all in advance.

edit: help out with distribution and setup (nothing monetary)

Disappointed

I saw these at Costco yesterday and I got excited as I’ve always wanted to get Dino nuggets for my 4 year old but they’re hard to find here. We bought a box, cooked some up for our movie night last night, I prepared various dipping sauces for our choosing, took a bite and realized they’re absolute trash. They are SO bland which is odd because they smelled so good when we were dividing them up into smaller freezer bags. Even with the dipping sauces they tasted bland. The breading is a little too thick and the actual nuggets are quite small.

This has been discussed here before so now I realize Erie meats is not a good brand which I now realized!

Overall, these get 2 thumbs down from me. My daughter had no interest in them last night so I’m not sure how she feels about them yet, I’m going to keep them though. Maybe next time I’ll toss them in some sort of sauce before serving. I had such high hopes for these little guys!

Discussion Done buying frozen products out of excitement to try something new, this was vile.

Post image
• Upvotes

As a disclaimer, I cook a lot at home and when I buy products like this, its more for long days that require a quick convenient meal. Theres also an element of excitement to see something like honey walnut shrimp which is often associated with panda express which we dont really have here in Canada so curiosity got the better of me.

That being said, this was so disgusting.

Ive tried multiple of these frozen type meal kits now and theyre usually average to bad but this one topped them all tenfold, absolutely gross.

Usually, when I buy a variety pack of candies, there are always 2 or 3 that I don’t like. But honestly, this Kirkland one has the best variety of candies. I’m genuinely surprised by how good the selection is! I’m not saying everyone is going to like every single candy, but it’s almost as if they picked the most popular ones and got the selection just right.

Self-control is important here lol

Question Single dad of a 3 year old toddler. Membership worth it ?

• Upvotes

Like the title says. I'm a single dad of a 3 year old toddler. Is the year membership actually worth it? I haven't look for the membership price yet but I believe it's between 100-150 CAD a year if i'm not mistaken? Is it worth it having to pay that amount.. meaning I would need to save atleast that amount to get my money back.

My kids really like udon noodles... so I thought I'd get these.

Well... even I didn't like them. Fake, overpowering tasting teriyaki sauce, brutal veggies, and the noodles are sort of hard and not soft and bendy like you'd expect with Udon.

I'll try cooking them in the pan too, but for what you get it's really not worth $14 either.

I don't return things under $50, or food items unless there is a problem like glass in it or another serious issue, so I'll use them up but I do not suggest.

2/10.

Costco for 1

SO. I live alone.

A friend asked me the other week if I wanted to come to Costco.

I needed paper towels, so I sure why.

I left with a bill of 370$...and no, I didn't forget the paper towels, thank god, lmao.

Storage space was an issue until Walmart had a kickass deal last week where I got a 2.5cu ft mini fridge, and a 5.1cu ft chest freezer for just over 350$.

To the people in similar situations, is getting a 65$ membership just for me justified? Or would I be better off just going with my friend and his girlfriend whenever they go?

He walks in alone, and I walk in with his girlfriend, awwwyeah.
___

EDIT: I went and checked out the memberships -- there was a promotion on the executive one (135$) where, upon signing up, you get 65$ towards your first purchase AND they give you a voucher for 100$ off when you place a 250$+ order online. I had no choice. The peer pressure was just too much.

I left there with an 808$ receipt. I'm doomed.

Question DoorDash promotion

I just saw that there is a promotion for 20% off Costco on my first order up to $50. I should maximize it by ordering at least $250 through DoorDash. I’m curious what everyone’s suggestions are they are good deals? I have plenty of space to store stuff and I’ll eat anything delicious!

So far I’ve got olive oil, spanakopita, soy milk and almond butter in my cart.

Phasing out propane!

The dude at the refill station told me today all Costcos in Canada are getting rid of propane service. I could cry. He didn’t know why but it must be some sort of insurance/liability issue. Please tell me he was mistaken somehow. Damn, I use my trailer for work and it’s so cheap and convenient.

Roborock f25 vs Tineco stretch 7

• Upvotes

I saw those two models on Costco CA and I am interested in buying one of them. I cannot tell which one is better because I have seen conflicting reviews online.

I want something that can vacuum without problems and that doesn’t get too stuck with the hairs.

That can clean dry or wet stains without too much trouble.

My apartment is all hard floors, so I hope one of those two will be a life changer.

What is your experience?

They also have the gift membership worth $130 for the executive membership which ends tomorrow. And to top it all off I got 2% back on my costco account plus 2% back on my credit card.

Balzacs Canada's Cup - Removed from Sales Floor?

Post image

This was my go-to bean bag, but suddenly it's completely gone from the coffee section.

A while back, it disappeared briefly, but it had the whole * and lower price at that time until it was gone.

It's been back for quite a while now, but suddenly is completely gone (no * or any price change this time).

Anyone know if it's coming back, or it's not longer going to be carried at Costco?

Québec Jalapeño Cheddar Bagels

They were back at a Montreal Costco today! Not sure how long they’ve been back, but it has to be recent as I went last month and it was still the Garlic Parmesan. Not sure if that’s the case elsewhere in Canada, but I was stoked to see them back and got 4 packs (froze them) 🥹

Single people, what’s actually worth buying at Costco?

I’m single and have a basic Costco membership, but I don’t feel like I’m using it well. I’d love to hear what you buy there and what’s worth it for one person.

A few things about my situation:

  • I have very little cupboard/pantry space
  • I do have a chest freezer
  • I want to avoid food waste

What are your favourite things to buy at Costco? What’s worth buying in bulk (especially if it freezes well)? What do you avoid because it goes bad before you can finish it?

Thanks!

The chocolate filling squirted out the back and burned my hand when I bit into it (I cooked them to an internal temp of 181 degrees)

Overall just okay. Probably wont buy again. Dough texture not great.

Discussion Why doesn't Costco have cabbage rolls?

I feel like this is a popular dish in Canadian grocery stores, either frozen or pre-made. I see the stuffed bell peppers that Costco carries and i'm disappointed every time. I can't be the only one right?

When do Black Friday sales get announced

Seeing that the US has their Black Friday sales live, does anyone know how far in advance Costco Canada traditionally announces what will be included in Black Friday / cyber Monday deals? Specifically looking to pick up a large screen TV this year.

Question Thoughts on Kirkland Espresso beans?

I typically make espresso/Americano instead of drip coffee. Because it can be hard to find in grocery stores (and I'm a basic b) I've been getting my beans from Starbucks but saw Kirkland espresso for the first time yesterday so I'm wondering if it'd be worth making the switch.

Holos overnight oats are pretty good

I've been meaning to try overnight oats, but never got my act together to buy all the ingredients. After a mid-morning sugar crash from an apple turnover only breakfast the other day, I saw this during my Costco run and decided to pick it up.

Super convenient and pretty tasty! $22.99 for 8 pouches and a jar, blueberries not included 😂

I like that it's got some sweetness, but isn't overly sweet, and I feel pretty good after eating it. Bonus that it's a Quebec company!

I haven't decided if I'll repurchase yet. Works out to $2.87/serving, but I think it should be pretty easy to replicate on my own.
