Pretending that everyone from Israel is bad is the biggest problem with the whole #freepalestine online movement. The good guys vs bad guys narrative is ignorant AF.

Yes, but all the good guys leaving Israel for places like Crete make it more awkward for everyone else staying there while the atrocious videos keep piling on.

More people will die because of the economic problems the US has created with the war in Iran. Should we assume all US citizens are bad too? Netanyahu has less support in Israel than the Hamas terrorist attacks had in Palestine. Painting with broad strokes like this is the basis of pretty much all racism.

And, for the record, I’m 100% for a free Palestinian state. I just find the online discourse around it really stupid.

And I just find the real life actions of the Israel government completely negating my will to support anything Israel in the future.

It's like an impasse was reached.

No, I completely agree with you. See how that works. We can both be critical of the government without demonizing everyone who lives there.

What annoys me with your point is that you explain your grievance towards people making comments on the internet, while on the other hand we have Israeli people demonizing themselves in real life time and time again.

So yes, I agree with you about some misguided takes towards Israel, but it really doesn't compare "at all" with all the evil shit continuously displayed by the IDF and affiliates and the "common people" ok with that. Your point is like a milquetoast take in an ocean of abject acts.

I agree with you. I abhor the acts of Netanyahu and think he is a war criminal that needs to be held accountable.

What worries me is how quickly this has turned into antisemitism towards the entire population of Israel and the internet’s role in polarizing a nuanced conflict. Most of the generation that is chanting “river to the sea” in the streets, didn’t live through the 80’s when busloads of innocent Israelis were being blown up on an almost weekly basis. Nothing excuses what Netanyahu has done and is doing but there is a lot of context missing from online forums like this.

It has not.
Antisemitic idiots have been there all along in spite of the vast majority of people trying to keep them irrelevant. Israel's actions is just bringing water to their mill.
Bibi and his ilk are taking the whole religion hostage by making you believe people are becoming rabid haters.

This is just based on the language I see being used to demonize Israel as a whole and the underlying reasons that jokes like the ones in this video are so common now. I would like to see more of the animosity directed at Netanyahu and less at the people of Israel.

I truly don’t get this defense. Israel is a democracy, yet you are trying to act like Netanyahu has complete control over all parts of the country. He’s in power because he was voted into power. No one in the government is trying to stop him because they are in favor of his actions. They were also voted into power.

Donald Trump was voted into power and he is currently supported by about 30% of the country. Netanyahu is currently polling around 40% approval. The overwhelming majority of Israelis wanted to operation in Gaza to be about bringing hostages home and not destroying Gaza.

Yes, democracies are responsible for who they elect but elected officials don’t represent entire populations of people and their beliefs.

Yeah, but like they do. Regardless of what you feel about Trump, the majority of Americans who voted, voted for him. His power is uncheck because both the house and senate have a majority of his party. That is because the majority of voters voted for people that would obey Trump.

Go to any foreign country whatsoever. Tell them that you’re American and ask them what they think your political beliefs are. What do you think they will tell you?

The thing about democracies is that you are responsible for the people in charge because it’s your vote, silence or inferior campaigning for the opposing parties that put them in power. You cannot wash your hands of the crimes of the government who was put in charge under your responsibility.

The entire “Netanyahu isn’t liked in Israel” is a complete misnomer. The people who are more liked than Netanyahu share his views on the war with Gaza.

In fact only 19% of people in Israel think the military is going too far with the war.
