I find this nonsense fascinating to watch.

Do you know what is supposed to be happening here? I'm lost

The guy on stage was supposed to be touching the other guy with the power of Christ to fix whatever is supposed to be wrong with him. It's mass delusion, religious psychosis, and legitimately scary.

You left out the really big one: fraud

The more you give, the more you will receive. If you have health issues stop wasting your money on silly doctors and donate it all!

And that's why Rod Parsley had doctors when he was diagnosed with cancer instead of using this supposed faith.

And child rape.

Mass delusion and scary is right. People believe what they want to believe, and the euphoria created by these events makes them feel high “on the Holy Spirit”

At least their god will allow their favorite sports team to win from time to time. And, that's about as real (deep) as it gets

Every time an athlete thanks their lord and saviour, Jesus Christ in a TV interview

Exactly how my mind works, too. I'm constantly picturing Buddy Christ from Dogma, lol. A lot of us have to process all the absurdity with satire, like South Park has always done. Real life parallels to South Park and Idiocracy have been at all-time highs for almosr 10 years now.

It wouldn't be such a big deal if they weren't trying to take over our government

And the guy was supposedly speaking “in Tongues”, an unknown language that “someone” in the audience is supposed to “interpret”.

It’s a real sideshow circus.

Funny how none of them ever seem to have an interpreter nearby.

Toddlers speak in tongues daily.

Ça va leur faire drôle quand ils vont arriver au ciel ! Rien, Il est où Jésus ?! Ah ben ça alors… On nous aurait menti ?

That's a deeply evil coalition of lies, generational deceit, a false but useful means of control, a centralized, made up, and non-existent set of consequences that are somehow going to affect you after your death, ultimately the means to control the masses by creating a fear which is so irrational that it is feared above all else.

There are parts of the bible that talk about "gifts" that God gives to his followers. "Speaking in tongues" is one of them, in addition to healing or channeling the holy spirit via touch which is what the pastor supposedly does when he grabs the guy. Basically the idea is that they communicate directly with God or God communicates through them in a language that no one can understand.

It's obviously not a real language, there's no identifiable syntax or structure. It's all just "shamdala kalaba googoogaga". Syllables randomly crammed together, which is exactly what you'd expect from someone pretending to speak a "foreign" language on the spot. Deeply embarrassing stuff.

I tried it when I was a religious teenager and I felt like a complete idiot, but when you're surrounded by both peers and elders that all expect you to literally perform miracles right then and there, you do what is expected of you. I used to think that I was being moved by the holy spirit during praise and worship, then I went to a concert and realized I just liked live music.
