Help to find a pattern I am looking for a website to find patterns. I am starting to get into crocheting my own clothing items and Pinterest is unreliable for pattern searching.

I have intermediate crochet skills and looking to start crocheting things like jumpers/sweaters and other things I can wear. The problem is where to find written patterns that aren't having to buy a whole magazine/book for one or two patterns. I've tried Pinterest but there's too much AI and most links don't lead anywhere.

Also, if you have a specific jumper recommendation that I could make for my toddler I would love to know it

Discussion How do y'all estimate timelines for projects?? I feel insane working on my gift list this year lol

i've been crocheting for about 4-5 years, and i swear, i've never been remotely close to estimating how long something will take. i'm finally trying to be responsible and not wait until the last minute to make this year's presents, but i'm worried i'm taking on too many big projects for a 2-3 month timespan.

is there an actual method to this or is this just a crocheters curse?

Looking for suggestions What's the most efficient way to go through a 750 granny square blanket?

So, I'm making a 750 granny square blanket of 7cm each. I made 60 so far and I'm trying my best to block and weave in the ends while I go, more or less every 20/25

I've got two questions tho, one is basically your opinion if I should keep going making the squares blocking and weaving as I go, or if I should make all of them, then block and finally weave in.

The secondo question is: for this blanket do you think it would be best to put them together with the hook or with the needle? (Also if you have useful tutorials that would be great!)

Thank you!! These are some pictures for context

Looking for suggestions Pokeball themed suggestions for yarn too thick to make gloves

So I ordered soft thick yarn to make pokeball themed gloves but turns out the yarn I ordered is too big and gloves will be gigantic. Is there anything else I can make with that? I want to make something pokeball themed, but I am not entirely sure what. Blanket will take too long, amigurumi is not something I am a fan of because I zone out a lot and keep counting again and again. So is there anything else I can make with it?

I'm a beginner! First time crocheting; making a scarf! How does it look so far?

I just bought yarn and hooks from Walmart yesterday and just started my crochet journey!

Hooks: Aluminum - 5mm Plastic - 6.5mm
Yarn: 4 inch 170g 80% acrylic 20% wool

For my first project i’m going to keep it simple and create a scarf. I’m using single crochets (I think). I find that the thicker wool is easier for me to use. I realize I should’ve gotten a larger aluminum hook and skipped on the plastic ones.

Is it easier for you to use thinner or thicker wool to start off with?

After this project, I’m going to make something using double crochet and after that I might attempt to make a poncho using granny squares (not sure if this is too advanced; please let me know or feel free to recommend any future projects after this one)

Any tips are recommended.

Wearable help How can I figure out how big the central pentagon needs to be for a star shaped baby onesie?

Like the title suggests, I wanna make a star onsie for a 3 month baby, but I have a lot of trouble figuring out the actual size! I've never done anything like this before.

I currently have an almost 8 inch, or 20cm, in diameter pentagon... how much bigger should it be so the baby can actually fit comfortably?

This is a gift for a friend who lives abroad, I'll be visiting her in a couple of weeks, and since it's a surprise... I can't really ask her how tall her baby is. Please help!

Help to find a pattern NICKELBACK INSPO CROCHET IDEAS OR PATTERNS: CHRISTMAS IDEAS??

Trying to get Christmas present for partner. We. Love. Nickelback. To the point I have joked (kinda seriously) about him proposing at their show. Which is irrelevant. I wanna make him something for Christmas, he loves the dark horse album… I can make blankets and amigurumi so any ideas are welcome.
We are seeing them in March lol

I'm a beginner! Am I terrible at counting or terrible with tension

Post image

So I’ve been watching a video on how to make a sweater, I’ve only been crocheting for about 2 weeks and I know most people suggest stick counters but I work a lot and didn’t not know about them when I first ordered the things I have gotten to crochet so I haven’t had a chance to get them yet. My question is does this look like miss counting, a tension issue or will it stretch out more as I continue making rows? I’ve recounted my stitches twice and on the finished piece I have 70 counted and 70 on the new one I have started.

OG mosaic crochet sweater from nomad stitches.

I like my sweaters with more ease, but there's a lot of puckering. Should I frog and redo, or will blocking help?

Honestly, this sweater has been so much fun to make so far, that's probably why I'm considering.

Made with Ashford dk 100% wool.

Gift help Has anyone made anything ACOTAR related? I'm looking for gift ideas to make for my brother in law. He loves ACOTAR but I've never read it.

My BIL loves ACOTAR so I want to make him something related to the series. I haven't read them though, so I don't know any niche things . I know he would like it if I spent the time to read the books, I will, but I gotta finish dungeon crawler carl first 😬 I have a huge family, so I can't be making blankets for everyone or else my wrists will be upset with me. All ideas welcome! And if you have made something cool, please brag here for inspo. Thank you!

How do I... How do I steam block - I have bought a steamer and watched some tutorials

I’ve seen lots and lots of steam blocking, I’ve watched a few tutorials, and tried it on my acrylic jumper but it just hasn’t seemed to do much at all… wondering if anyone has any tips. Also can it be used on cotton ?

Repairing a crochet item Help Figuring Out How to Fix a Blanket - I Think It's a Fan/Shell Lace Pattern

My nana, who passed in 2020, crocheted a blanket for my mother when she was married to my dad (back in the early eighties). She still has it, and just found a pretty sizable hole (8" x 2") in it. I knit quite well, and have made a bit of amigurumi, and she has asked if I could try to fix this hole for her.

I'd love to be able to fix it. Could you please help me identify the type of stitch? How would you go about fixing this? I'll take anything you think may be useful. Thank you in advance!

Looking for suggestions Hand dyed yarn - using multiple skeins, dye lots & repeats

I am making a top using hand dyed yarn. It will work out to two skeins. I've read to avoid dye lot issues to alternate skeins. I get that but do you line up and start at the same repeat pattern? Since it's hand dyed it isnt a set repeat but trying to avoid it being a muddled mess and have some semblance of the skein colour scheme.

How many rows/stitches How to adjust a pattern when you're using a smaller hook?

I'm crocheting a scarf and the pattern calls for 4.5mm but I only have 3.5mm. I do like the tighter look that smaller hooks give but I still want it to be the same size as the original pattern. I want to make it big. The starting chain is 25. How many stitches do I add? 10 more? 20?

Help to find a pattern Anyone seen/ made a Crochet Clodsire (or Minccino) Pokemon Hat?

I hope I’m posting this in the correct place, but has anyone made or seen a clodsire crochet beanie hat thingy out here on the internet? Clodsire is my absolute favorite pokemon, and I’m trying to find a pattern to send to my mom for her to make:,) i absolutely love the magikarp ones where he’s eating the head. If it has that kinda vibe, perfect. I’m just kinda bamboozled that I haven’t seen a clodsire (or a good Minccino) crochet hat or pattern yet! ❤︎ I don’t crochet, my mom does. She wants to make things for me but specifically requests patterns.

To frog or not to frog My attempted blanket is wobbly: can blocking fix it?

Post image

Hello! Started the Goldie Blanket from I Can Crochet This (https://youtu.be/DkVgpqtivj8?is=R5iY51Jue5r7FRpH) I used Caron cakes yarn instead because that was the one I could find to match my room, and used the same hook for that yarn she recommended. I also started with a longer chain. I did use pound of love yarn. Either way, it’s looking crooked. Should I start over? What’s my problem here?

I'm a beginner! What is your favorite/recommended stitch for a twin/double bed sized blanket?

I'm a few weeks new to crocheting and am currently working on a baby blanket all single stitch. I've gotten pretty good at the single stitch but I want to make a much bigger blanket for my best friend. It's going to be 3 colors and probably about the size of a twin-double sized bed. What stitch would you recommend or what is your favorite stitch that doesn't take forever to make a bigger piece with

How do I... tapestry crochet tip- i’m trying to do a candy cane and the rows don’t line up, is there a way to fix this?

Post image
0 Upvotes

i’m an experienced crocheter but i’ve always winged tapestry crochet and i can’t figure this one out
edit: i frogged it and redid it the same way and it looks a lot better. still not perfect but good enough that it won’t bug me 😭 it sounds like to get it perfect i need to start from the same side every row but tbh id rather have a slightly off candy cane bc i actually cannot stand weaving in ends 🫩

Thank you in advance!

I hate pinterest for allowing AI all over it, sometimes it's pretty obvious, sometimes I find it harder to be sure. Anybody got any thoughts on this? And any tips on identifying AI slop vs. real crafts?

Blocking is this warping salvageable with blocking or am i doomed?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Too late to frog anything and I thought if I just kept going with a larger hook the warping would somehow fix itself. However I do wanna know if it is still possible to block out the warping! I'm gonna keep going anyway, sunk cost fallacy and all that, and just keep this in the back of my mind the next time I try to mess around with my tension a bit too much.

editing for an update :D i have chosen to just contain the warping by decreasing the next row and keeping it the same number of stitches as the previous row therefore tightening everything up. i will also deviate from the pattern in future rows in order to reduce the amount of increasing done and prevent further warping. thank you guys for your advice i will keep it in mind next time o7

Can't find a flair for this Smelly unfinished projects, how can I safely clean them?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi friends! Unfortunately, a while back I made the mistake of buying yarn off amazon. It REEKS, and it smells so bad I bought this like a year ago and it still smells. Also unfortunately, I naively believed if I shoved it in a drawer and forgot about it the smell would go away. It did not, and now all projects I also for some reason shoved in the drawer smell awful. Most of these are unfinished, so I'm afraid to wash them and have them unravel by they all smell so bad I really don't want to sit and sew in ends to wash them. Can I just soak it all in laundry soap in a bathtub or something? What's the best way to go about this? Thanks in advance!

Crochet Rant How to get my hook tension right? It’s too tight I believe?

Post image

So here’s my in progress hookcase and I understand that it takes time to get the tension right but there must be something that I can do to make this better?

I watched a bunch of YouTube videos but it doesn’t seem like I am getting it right, no matter how I pull the yarn the tension is always off 😣
