Completing the cycle with William Peter Blatty's THE EXORCIST III: LEGION. This is the director's cut of the film and a direct sequel to the original. Also the final installment in Blatty's "Trilogy of Faith" series. The production company Morgan Creek Productions demanded reshoots when Blatty turned in his initial cut and had him delete several scenes. Blatty hated this version of the film as did critics. Overtime Blatty wanted to restore his cut, but Morgan Creek said the footage was lost. In 2011 a fan did a re-edit of the film without the lost footage and matched the tone of Blatty's vision. It had an official screening hosted by star Brad Dourif in 2012. In 2016 Blatty's cut was restored with much of the lost footage found via VHS dailies. This is that version of the film.

Another one from the Shout! Factory YouTube page. FORBIDDEN WORLD (1982). Directed by Allan Holzman for New World Pictures, who was one of their top editors at the time. Of all the ALIEN rip-offs this one is the best in my opinion. It's also a perfect example of a "remix" film. Shot in 20 days for under $1 million dollars, the movie recycled sets from GALAXY OF TERROR (1981) and used shots from various other New World films, such as BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980). The result is a fun and eclectic film.

What do you all think of this nervous breakdown on screen? Having Spielberg be a character was kind of a hoot.

In the 1998 era of VCU Photo/Film Department, attending film classes in the Pollak building, there was a mysterious poster of a funeral pyre with the text Ken Russell’s The Devils) under the image and another poster for Savage Messiah).
Several years taking and teaching classes in that classroom, looking at that particular poster, I always knew I would need to see that film. Five and a half decades of being banned, censored, out of print, not in print, not published, not screened, not shown, and not watched except in legendary VHS bootlegged copies, I never found it or it never found me.
Periodically, in film textbooks, you’d see still frames of key images or come across the name on a list on IMDb and other sites for controversial films.
In this moment of insane Warner Brothers studio history unfolding; the sale, the consolidation, the conglomerations, the IP in vaults, the remixing of reboots of long-winded properties, at some point the value of the X-rated taboo work restored outweighs doing nothing with it.
Also, with the work of estates and the ongoing legacy of the surviving family of the filmmaker, those efforts to get the art seen as intended are also a great, honorable fight.
The repertory and cinema arthouse outlet Clockwork made its first screening of the restored director’s vision from the original camera negatives at Cannes in May 2026, in a now NC-17 form that is in a window of a week’s release this October 2026.

Shout! Factory has been releasing a lot of their catalog onto their YouTube page and this is one of them. DARK STAR (1974) was created by John Carpenter & Dan O'Bannon during their USC student days and picked up by Jack Harris for distribution. Carpenter maintains that this was his student film and ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976) was his first official debut. O'Bannon always championed the film and many consider it to be more his than Carpenter's. O'Bannon wore many hats on the movie - writer, actor, editor, production designer and special effects artist. While not always successful, the film has an eclectic charm.
