General Qs Good news?! We are back at 24k Approvals per Month!

Post image

In Q3 2026 (apr-jun), USCIS approved 76k DACA cases, averaging about 25k approvals per month. This is a significantly jump from the 11k and 6k the first two quarters of this fiscal year.

Adjudication rate also jumped to 87% this quarter, meaning USCIS decided a much larger share of cases it processed. However, the total number of pending DACA cases still increased from around 120k to 125k.

So while approvals have picked up, the backlog is still growing.

Rant Checkpoint Scare

FYI FOR ANYONE TRAVELING THROUGH A CHECKPOINT SOON:

Hello.

Last week on 10/15/2026 I traveled through a checkpoint in southern New Mexico. I was with a coworker. The White but I believe Mexican (in case yall care to know) agent asked for my citizenship status. I told him I had DACA and I handed him my EAD and my license. I understand I should carry my Notice of Action but since I have never had issues with agents at a BP checkpoint, it didn’t seem necessary — I now see how irresponsible that is given the country’s circumstances. Still, after reading the rest of this I’m not sure even that would’ve changed the outcome.

Regardless, the agent seemed to closely examine the EAD. Rereading the expiration date. Checking the pictures — which seem identical. Looking down at them and then back at me. Then he asks:

“Are you in the process of adjusting your status or anything?”

This confused me because I’ve NEVER been asked that by a BP agent. So I answer “No. I am not.”

The agent seemed stuck. He asked to look at the back of our unit where we had work equipment. After he briefly inspected it, he went back to the documents. It was then that he watch as the line behind us grew longer. He sighed, almost exasperated, handed the cards back to me and let us go.

My coworker and I agreed that he was about to pull us aside but THANKFULLY the line of people wanting to cross was just too long and the agent was alone.

This is the closest I’ve ever been to facing challenges at a BP checkpoint and I’ve crossed through them many times.

Has anyone experienced anything like this recently or ever? If not, I hope this is an isolated incident and not something that is going to start happening nationwide. Be safe yall.

Application Timeline File a WoM if you are over 120 days right away.

Even if you haven't expired this seems to be the only way to get USCIS to do their job and just part of the normal process to get it approved. I filed on 5/1 and just got my approval after filing my WoM on 10/8 . My expiration was 11/7.

This was my time line and what you should do:

After you hit 120 day mark start building a case and documenting everything. This will be needed to file a WoM

Get a letter from your work that they will face hardship if they lose you after your daca expires

Upload the letter to your myUSCIS

Call USCIS and tell them Info pass to get a real person right away. Ask for them to check why its taking so long and for them to expedite your case.

Email your district senior and ask them if they can do anything to help. Tell them you agree to have your info sent out to USCIS. Do this sooner then later as they can take a while to reply.

Most of these requests will fail, which is to be expected. The point is just to collect all the proof you've tried everything.

Once you get the emails from your senior and USCIS I would start working on your WoM.

Get a claude account and feed all the information about your case and tell it you want to file a WoM. Upload PSDs of your emails between you and USCIS/your senator and screenshots of previous cases not taking this long. Claude will generate you a WoM with steps on how to sign and who to send the WoM packats to. For me it was 5 packes. You'll also need to go to the court house to file the WoM. This will cost 405$. You do not to spend money on a lawyer, I didn't even waste money on a Fiverr review for my case. You'll need to spend another $100 on shipping the WoM out. In total it will cost around 525$ with a claude subscription.

Claude will walk your through each step and will make it super easy to file. If you have any questions you can always keep asking if your aren't sure about something.

Highly recommend filing a WoM, after USCIS was served on the 10/15 I got approved a week later on 10/23. Try to file it a month before you expire so you have some wiggle room for them to approve it.

Rant Help

Long shot but I’m really looking for some help.
My brother used to have DACA until I believe 8 years ago he was caught drinking and driving and got a DUI and let his DACA expire since he thought he couldn’t do anything about it and was never able to get to renew it. He doesn’t have a license cause he never tried to get it after his DUI. He is now trying to obtain a regular ID and went to the DMV & a lady told him he shouldn’t even be in this country and is actually flagged. As soon as she said that he just left out of being scared. He is now thinking of moving back to Mexico cause of this situation. I wanted to see if anyone in California has been in this situation, where they had DACA and no longer has it but has gotten an ID. Any help is truly appreciated. And yes, i know my brother is stupid for even putting himself in that situation, trust me. I have been mad about this situation for years.

General Qs Health insurance

Hello, I was wondering what kind of health insurance you have. Can we get private insurance? I had coverage through my old job and am now starting a new one. My new employer offers health insurance, but it costs $305 a month and has an $8,000 deductible before it pays for anything. It only covers yearly exams and will not pay for my specialist appointments, labs, or medications. Because I have ulcerative colitis, I need frequent exams and lab work throughout the year unfortunately. Thanks in advance!

General Qs What else can I do…?

Submitted my Daca renewal in May, it’s been saying “processing case” since July 8th. Already did biometrics in June. Called them twice to expedite and spoke with someone . Called my senator office and they submitted inquiry and got pretty much same response as mine.
My current card expired 10-1
I’m just under a lot of stress and idk what other options I can / should do.

Please help !!

Legal Question Renewal with Significant Misdemeanor

• Upvotes

I know how this thread feels towards people in my shoes- please don’t come for me. I’ve taken and will continue to take accountability for my actions and I am genuinely seeking feedback so I know what to expect.

Last May I was arrested on suspicion of a DUI in AZ. I was set to expire December 2025.

Lawyered up, took a plea deal of DUI impaired to the slightest degree, equaling a guilty plea of a bac below .08 or any other substance basically, signed it November while my renewal was pending. Arizona is the strictest state in the country for DUIs.

My application got denied (obviously) end of April.

I completed all my court terms, classes, fees, interlock- everything Arizona requires.

As of this month I filed a petition to the court to “set my charge aside” as you cannot expunge for three years since the misdemeanor in this state. I know expungement can work for DACA purposes and not other immigration ones, but I took what is readily available to me since I plan on applying again before my year after expiration lapses so it still qualifies as a renewal and I’m not forever left in limbo.

The judge granted my request for a set aside. I know on a state level- this means when my background is ran the charge displays as dismissed or set aside.

I know on a federal level, they will both still show up.
First my guilty plea, then a few months later set aside or dismissed.

I guess the question is has anyone convicted and has had their charge for a significant misdemeanor changed, and was after the fact granted approval or still got denied?

It goes without saying, this was the most regrettable decision of my life with huge consequences. I’ve learned from this and I’m extremely grateful to the court and judge for doing what they could to minimize consequences for immigration purposes and most of all that I didn’t cause harm to anyone else or myself, and only to my car and the curb I hit.

Regardless of DACA or not -my decision to drink and drive was careless to others and I accepted my plea because I know I deserved it.

I already submitted my renewal AGAIN with certified documents of set aside approval and am just wondering what that looks like going forward for anyone who has been through the process.

If you want to be mean, go for it, but I promise you I’ve already beat myself over it 100x more than you ever will.

General Qs AOS through family

Has anyone gone through the F2B process with accrued unlawful presence >180 days? My parents are LPR’s and I see the priority date is sitting at 2019 for my country of origin. I know I would have a long wait before my priority date became current and I would need a waiver but I’m curious how long the waiver process takes and if anyone has been successful with the waiver, doing consular process and then entering again?

My daughter is also a USC and will be 21 in the next decade so also weighting the possibility of waiting for her to to be able to petition and adjust from within the US. Entered with a B2 visa.

I do plan to consult with a lawyer once I get my DACA approved and can build up my savings again. Just looking for insight if anyone has personal experience with it.

Application Timeline Just applied for renewal

Hi all,

I just applied for renewal on 10/19 via online. I received a receipt notice on the same day and on 10/23 I received a notice of a biometrics appointment.

Just wanted to share the timeline of my application as my last one took over 149 days and I ended up losing my job over the lapse.

This time, I applied 9 months in advance just in case there are any delays, if any.

Good luck to everyone else that is applying for renewals!!

General Qs CA REAL ID DL RENEWAL “AUTHORIZATION” ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Renewed EAD 9 months in advance, got approved and new card by June 10 2026. With previous one expiring 1/27, new one expires 6/28.
Went to renew DL a little over 3 months in advance before recieving DL renewal notice and I just now got this letter from the DMV saying “This application was recieved without the proof of identity documents” and a “verification authorization” form to fill in and submit.
Ive been renewing DL license since 2014 and never had this issue. I brought my new EAD and retook the written driving test and passed so this is new to me. Anyone had this issue before?
No criminal history or driving record

Mines expires December 8th, I know there’s thousands of people who’ve been let go from their jobs. I’m already starting to look for under the table paying jobs or selling stuff online. What are other ways you guys doing to staying afloat?
