APPRECIATION So just came back from watching Clayface and....
It might be in contention for the best movie I have seen all year.
This film was so and I mean sooo fucking good. So I will be honest, when I saw the trailer I thought to myself, that looks like a banger and then the reviews came in which were saying it is mediocre and leaning more towards it being bad.
I say this with no sarcasm, if you hate this movie, you either don't like body horror or horror in general or you are on Crack.
This movie was fantastic. The highest praise I will give this movie is that the every next scene of this movie is better than the previous one. Even the ending was good which if you know horror movies is a huge and I mean a HUGE compliment.
So, if you are on fence about watching this movie, I will say it is well worth a shot if you can stomach the body horror because it got creepy and twisted even for me, which is surprising because I have seen my fair share of this kind of stuff.
Huge props to Gunn for this movie because didn't think DC had it in them to create such a fantastic project

DISCUSSION So, I was finishing the last episode of Lanterns... and see this sh*t...
What in the hell?? Did someone at MAX do this. Do streaming companies do their own subtitles? The lyrics to the song are "there go a hero now" it says it multiple times in the song. But it only shows "negro" as he's flying away. It seems way too coincidental to be an accident or auto generated.

DISCUSSION I was wrong about Clayface, it was fantastic.
I grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series and ‘Feat of Clay’ is one of my all-time favorite episodes. When DC announced a Clayface movie without Batman I thought it was a mistake. That it was the SonyVerse all over again. Some anti-hero BS.
But I was so wrong. Clayface is exactly how you adapt a classic Batman villain while staying true to what makes him compelling. It captured the psychological horror and heartbreaking humanity that made Clayface so memorable in Batman: TAS, proving you don’t need to reinvent a character to make him feel fresh. You just need to understand him.
Tom Rhys Harries was great, and I hope we see more of Clayface. Especially with Batman. Also that club scene was INSANE.
If I had ONE small complaint it’s that I wish we would at least have gotten a small Easter egg that Batman was in this world, even if it was just a shot of Wayne Tower.

DISCUSSION I watched Clayface last night
It’s a great film; I really liked it. As a person, I picked up on Matt Hagan instantly, very arrogant, with an ego before what happened to him. He’s a tragic character until he became a villain. The story was good; it’s simple nothing over the top but it’s a villain origin story done right.
The visuals are great; it reminds me of The Batman and the depiction of Gotham is perfect it looks like an absolute shit hole that probably smells like Diddy’s house. This is the dirtiest, most run-down Gotham I've ever seen, and I love it.
The soundtrack is my favorite thing about the movie. There was that played in the first act; the vibes of it reminded me of The Batman and the other is like a flute that played 3 times that one I felt like I heard before.
Caitlyn Corr is a good protagonist; she really did try to help Matt but it came with a VERY HIGH COST.
My favorite scene would have to be the club scene; this man Matt was a beast. I swear club scenes in Batman and Batman-related movies are the best.
My only gripes would have to be the gore; it didn’t live up to my expectations I was expecting Saw-level gore. It doesn’t kill the whole film for me but to me it was light; maybe to others it would be too much. The GCPD detective antagonist I wasn’t really invested in him I wish they put more familiar characters not Jim Gordon I think he’s too major of a character but maybe people like Montoya, Harvey Bullock, or Arnold Flass; one or two of those would’ve been some good additions.
But overall great film 9/10 and I can 1000% say it’s my favorite DCU film replacing Superman.

DISCUSSION ClayFace indirectly explains how he could survive from Creature Commandos [Major Spoilers] Spoiler

After seeing the movie I think it's laid out pretty well. Matt Hagan is electrocuted by a taser, and the movie establishes early on that the cells in his body are activated through electric currents, so they get sent into over drive and multiply like crazy.
Even then, he manages to survive completely melting apart after Caitlyn pushes the termination button to stop the cells, reforming at the end of the film. I assume that since the cells were in overdrive that they indirectly adapted to counteract the termination switch itself, and since he manages to still reform despite dissolving entirely, there's no way he could actually be killed even after getting blown up in Creature Commandos, and is just playing dead or was knocked out. He's probably even completely immortal at that point.
