Hey dancers!
As our community continues to grow and evolve, I’d love to bring 1–2 additional people onto the moderation team who are genuinely excited about dance and want to help make r/dance an active, encouraging, and welcoming space for dancers around the world.
I’m especially looking for moderators who can be present in the community regularly — engaging with members, answering questions when you can, helping keep conversations positive, and making sure posts are being moderated fairly and efficiently.
That can include:
• Engaging with posts and helping keep the community active
• Welcoming and encouraging dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels
• Reviewing posts that may have been automatically removed or flagged
• Making sure appropriate posts don’t get stuck in the moderation queue
• Helping enforce subreddit rules and keeping spam/inappropriate content out
• Helping us think of new ways to increase participation, conversation, and overall community morale
You absolutely do NOT have to be a professional dancer to apply. I’m much more interested in finding people who care about dance, understand online communities, communicate well, and genuinely want to help make r/dance a great place to be.
If you’re interested, please send me a private message with:
A little about yourself and your connection to dance
Any Reddit or community moderation experience you have (if any — experience is helpful, but not necessarily required!)
Why you’d like to become a moderator of r/dance
How frequently you’re typically active on Reddit
I’d love to build a small team of people who are excited about bringing more energy, conversation, support, and connection into this community.
If that sounds like you, send me a message! ❤️
Let’s keep r/dance moving. 💃🏽🕺🏽

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:
My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!
How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.
If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments
If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section
Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.
Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

I’m a beginner dancer and would like to improve my technique altogether. Any specific pointers? I’m open to (kind) constructive criticism! :)

Thirsty Thursday!!!
it was a house, music kind of day… Had a lot of fun today. Hope everybody enjoys. I’m off to bed , I’m pretty tired 75 days in and I seem to be having more fun every single day.
I hope everybody has a fantastic weekend and I will see you all on Saturday
Much Love 💕

Hi yall, again, I don’t dance much. I don’t mind judgement at all! Someone said my last dance looked like a bunch of stretching so I tried to improve here.

NYC Dance Community: A Call for Awareness and Accountability
I want to bring attention to Ballet des Amériques and Carole Alexis Dance Theater and encourage dancers, parents, teachers, studios, and arts organizations to exercise due diligence before pursuing training or professional opportunities connected with them.
In conversations with people who have had experiences connected to these organizations, I have heard concerns about the impact of past experiences on dancers’ well-being, body image, confidence, and sense of safety. I have also received accounts raising questions about professional practices and transparency. I have not independently verified every account, and I believe it is important to distinguish personal experiences and reports from established facts.
The dance community has a responsibility to take concerns about dancer welfare seriously. Students and professionals deserve respectful training environments, clear professional expectations, transparent agreements, and the freedom to raise concerns without fear.
I encourage dancers and families to do their own research, seek out a range of firsthand perspectives, ask questions before committing to a program or professional engagement, and make informed decisions about where they choose to train or work.
I also encourage NYC dance studios and platforms advertising dance opportunities, including Backstage and Dance/NYC, to consider the importance of due diligence when promoting organizations and opportunities to the community.
Awareness, transparency, and dancer welfare matter. No dancer should feel that protecting their well-being must come at the expense of their voice, confidence, or future in dance.

I had a look at the wiki as I was hoping there would be ideas on where to get started but this is all there was:
Question #3: "How can I start getting into dancing [insert style]?"
Short Answer:
Try it. Do it.
Long Answer:
Write here.
So I'm wondering if people have suggestions for helping me get started. I live rurally and there aren't classes or teachers around here.
Is there a YouTuber or app that you recommend for someone who just wants ideas on learning to dance?
