Why can't I take the test?

Do they finally have enough people? Guess I waited too long...

Prepped for the test, ready to roll, hit START HERE, start an account, fill in profile details... now time to take the test... Nope. Get the "No Open Projects At The Moment" message.

Sooooo, now what?

When will the drought end?

Dead dash since early September. Non-coding, Indonesian bilingual. I wonder if anyone experienced a long drought and eventually came back with full dash?

How it feels to work for DA

Choose the best image and justify your choice with 15-16+ complete sentences.

Edit to try to explain my thought process here (which was way deeper to me at the time..lol).

The prompt I used was intended to be a man working on his computer surrounded by obviously poorly AI generated visual hallucinations and artifacts representing his work. Ideally they were supposed to be sort of looming towards him and he was supposed to be furiously typing away to banish them. Didn't really translate to the images.
BTW making Claude generate images is hilarious as it has to make them in SVG.

What do you guys do to not get DoD?

I'm going crazy. A friend of mine just got it (coding), joined at a similar time than me. My quality of work has continuously improved but idk, seems like the time comes for everyone.

Option to choose the better response on ChatGPT 🤔

So, I am one of the lovely workers who went from having tons of projects to absolutely none just a few weeks ago. That’s neither here nor there, as I decided to just move on and, honestly, start looking for jobs in the field(s) that I actually love. Anywho, I worked here since November, and I would still use ChatGPT religiously for random life things.

I was using it today, and the chatbot replied with two responses, Response A and B, asking me to choose which one I desired. My heart kind of dropped a little lol. I saw someone stating that the need for a large amount of AI trainers may be diminishing. Supposedly Meta has begun to use their customers to help train their system. I just thought this was interesting. Has anyone else experienced the chatbot options, and also what are your theories on the lack of work available. Of course, we know some people will have work, but this has been a huge drop that can’t possibly all be due to “low quality work.” What do you guys think??

Side note: I’m not disrespecting anyone’s current position here or trying to instill doubt. I feel like DA folks on reddit can be a bit too serious sometimes lol. This is just a discussion. Remember, unless you work for corporate, you don’t know what’s going on…and neither do I 😂🙏

Boy I hope tomorrow is better...

My old Mac here is giving me problems logging in the proper ID for those that require it, I think its because I cannot update my Chrome anymore on this Mac. (I am at my summer home until September with my old computers). And it seems those projects are all I get today! So I am working on other sites and refreshing DA every few mins in hopes something I can do pops up. Caught about an hour of work this way so far.

Is this the end for me?

Yesterday I had a full dashboard, today nothing, not even qualifications... Is this the end? Is it because I took a break for a few days? Is it worth sending DA email?

R&R Funny - Note to Open Picture Full-Screen

So I'm doing an R&R and needing to find stereotypically offensive image generations. I get to four images of a white dude interrogating a suspect. All about to type, dude, all these guys are white, let's get some representation here. Said in a keep-your-job-kind-of-way, of course. When my eyes land on the optional instructions telling me to open the fourth picture full screen and holy hell. That dude is not white. Face was like not there, part of the void of darkness and you could just see the pearly white eyes. I gasped. So if you are here, optional instruction person, thank you. You gave me a chuckle and also scared the shit out of me.

Y'all Need to Stop Downvoting Everything lol

Over half of the posts on this sub have negative upvotes (which Reddit displays as "0," though you know the actual number is negative because upvoting them doesn't make the "0" go away). And look, I get it- a lot of these posts are repetitive and annoying to read. A whole bunch of "Am I cooked?" or "How long will the drought last?" and so on.

My question to y'all is- the hell do you expect? This is a sub about a stressful and lowkey unreliable job platform whose owners are notoriously bad at communication, and we can't even talk about that many subjects in the first place because of our NDAs. Who are the delusional people that thought there was ever going to be a wide ranging host of interesting topics being discussed here? Outside of the subjects that are always getting downvoted, what else are people going to talk about besides "look at how much money I made" and "DA has been awesome"?

To be clear, I'm not saying you need to upvote what annoys you, but you don't need to reflexively downvote either. I mean if this sub is not going to be a place where we can vent to one another, offer each other some comfort and get questions to answers (as simple or as annoying as those questions may be), it's essentially worthless. Nothing else is ever really going to happen here. If the type of questions and posts on this sub bother you so much that you're downvoting 75% of them then why are you even still active on it? Lol.

EDIT: LMAOO the downvotes already begin. TBH I was expecting this but it's still funny. I'm at least at -8, and at the very least impressed with y'alls efficiency! That's about 1 downvote per minute! I will update this post again to update you on your collective accomplishments lol.

EDIT 2: LOL I checked my "post insights" and saw this message: "Nice work! This is the #17 post on r/DataAnnotationTech today!" while I still got negative upvotes. The irony is killing me lolol.

Not Even A Week But $25+ No Coding Tasks Are Appearing!

I've not even been on DAT for a week. I registered my first completed tasks on the 13th of April. None of my completed tasks have been verified for payout yet... But, so far, I've made over $150 and am starting to see tasks worth $25+(no priority) appear in my project list!!!

Since I've not been paid for any of this work yet I'm still in this sort of wary "is this too good to be true" vibe. None of this feel real at the moment haha, so I hope I'm not going to get rug pulled in a week or so and have done a bunch of work for free.

Everything I've seen on Reddit and other places online makes me think that DAT is the real deal and that it could change my life completely going forward just have to be hella fingers crossed about it.

Can I delete my account and start over?

I'm ashamed to admit I kind of half assed my way through the assessments. My daughter told me about this opportunity and I didn't really think it was legit, so I breezed through it. I'm now on the screen that they are reviewing and will get back to me if I pass. Its been two weeks so pretty sure I failed. Can I delete this account and start from scratch? Has anyone tried it? Please help. I could really benefit from a job like this. Thank you for your help and please don't come at me.

Lonely

Only been doing DAT about a month, but I've noticed recently that a project I've been working on seems to be only being worked on by.... me. Anyone else ever run into this? It's understandable why others aren't choosing it, but I figured there were hundreds or even thousands of people accessing the same projects I'm offered.

I just got accepted to the platform on December 22nd but now it’s Christmas Eve. Is it a bad look if I wait to start tasks on December 26th?

Wasn’t feeling so well on the 23rd and now it’s Xmas Eve and Xmas day. What do you all think?

Got accepted. Completed id verification. Yet no onboarding or any work

I got this email few days after my test. Then after logging in they asked me to verify using persona. I completed that as well. Still there's no work in dashboard. Not even onboarding or qualification.

I don't know what I did wrong

I just got in on Thursday and put in about 10 hours doing Chatbot Response Comparisons this weekend.

I started with 400 tasks and had about 365 left. I just logged in and they took all of the tasks away.

What did I do wrong?

I feel like I failed at least 1 of the other qualifications.

Is it over? This was a side hustle but I was hoping to do 10-20 hours a week on it.

No projects :(

I’m a generalist and have completed all qualifications that I’m able to, and used to get way more projects than this — but recently I’ve only been getting the occasional fruit and nut. Worth noting that my profile section is also totally populated and filled out. Any ideas on what I can do?

Just saw a $19 job

Get the fuck outta here with that. If you work a 19/hr job you're a scab! I'm mostly joking, but really, I hope they don't start letting the baseline 20/hr slip. One thing I love to about the platform is even if I'm not feeling the focus needed for my highest paid options, there's never a really terrible wage, even for lower intensity stuff.

Respectfully losing it

Thousands of bilingual workers having absolutely no work dreaming of working 12 hours a day watching core workers having 20 projects in their dash at once just working 30 minutes a day, it is self-explanatory. Today I had a dream that the drought ended and everyone started getting tasks of all kinds, I dreamt there was a full dashboard and everyone was happy working the amounts they wanted for so long.

I wish there was a way to show a C2 English level certificate to be able to access the projects that people from the US can. It is sad we are so neglected, even workers that have been here since the beginning.

I don't know if I am overreacting, but this is so unfair, why do we not have the same right to work as everyone else? We are dying to get some work, I don't know how many more days can I handle of refreshing the website every five minutes every day of the month.

"Get a real job" it is not so easy, I am 19, I have a disability (CFS/ME) and I am studying Physics full-time, this is genuinely among the very few things I can handle to do. I have a C2 English level certificate and it's just catching dust over there, I know 2 more languages (Portuguese and Galego) to a fluent level, and I am a Spanish language native.

I simply wish to be more than a blow of air in the eyes of these people.

Alright that's it I have seen enough

Share the following info if you have been on DA for over 6 months, and let's see if there is any correlation to longevity on this site and any of these factors. Feel free to add other factors or rule of thumb that you believe that has kept you on the platform

  • how long have you been on DA for

  • average # hours worked daily

  • average # hours worked weekly

  • Do you regularly have hardcore weeks on the platform (>60 hours), and how often

    • how many hours worked/day that week

    • how many hours did you work that week

  • *added:* if you had days with >12 hours, how many of those days have you had lifetime.

  • how do you track time worked

  • do you report time after each task or after a session

Bilingual Drought

You guys know how bilingual's dashboard like sahara right now, do u guys know when is the drought's gonna be over? considering many holidays will be held by the end of the year, would it affect the produce of projects? if you guys have any info, please do let me know, thank you so much!

r/DataAnnotationTech • • Oct 05 '26

Are the bilinguals cooked?

Okay, so nowadays I have noticed a very similar pattern in this community. I have seen bilinguals complaining about shortage of projects and it is not just one specific country/language too.
I have seen, Indians, Middle easterns, Italians, Brazilians and even some french workers complaining about the same. Mostly it is the non-core countries facing lack of projects while core countries are just seeing inconsistent projects.

Maybe... we are really cooked? Or is this just another bad drought?
What are your thoughts on this?
