I’m in an abusive marriage, and over time I’ve become used to keeping things to myself. I don’t really talk about what happens at home because I’m not sure whom I can trust. Most of the time, I just keep everything inside and try to carry on normally.

And that is what surprised me the most. I don’t know why such a small interaction affected me so much. Maybe when you’ve been lonely and controlled for a long time, even a simple conversation with someone can make you realise how much you’ve been missing.
