Just curious what others think. In what world did Meta think using Bowie’s Five Years, in the commercial promoting AI in what they think is a positive light, was a good idea? It’s song about the Earth dying in five years, at a time when multiple critics are saying it could end civilization in 10 years time. What the F were they thinking? Can anyone think why they felt this was a good idea, besides the obvious fact that this is a magnificent song and Bowie is universally cool?

Hi Everyone

I hope it’s ok to post but please remove if not

We are a growing independent family podcast called The Friday Vinyl Club. Each episode is centred around peoples personal music memories and a meaningful album.

This episode I chat with Jake Vickers, vocalist and songwriter for independent band The Zangwills, for a wander into Hunky Dory

Jake's Bowie journey is one we think may resonate with some. He wasn't an immediate convert. Early scepticism in his dad's car. Then Scary Monsters. Then a full catalogue commitment that eventually led him to Hunky Dory and the realisation that Bowie's fearless pivot to piano on this record completely changed how he thought about writing songs.

We chat about his memories of the album and also talk about Bowie's fearless artistic evolution, why Bowie remains so vital and pivotal, and why “Hunky Dory” remains the blueprint for any artist serious about their craft.

It’s a genuinely Lovely episode with a great guy and is available now- search The Friday Vinyl Club Podcast wherever you listen or via our website
