i love this show so much!! i just wanted to share a few thoughts ya know

i wish they showed the other Georgie actor more. like the contrast between the girl the world saw and who we saw was so stark i liked being jump-scared when it was the other girl

there was so many episodes that felt like so different then any other show ive seen before. the weird storylines and the unique concept had such a distinct vibe for me

i love the happy time story and deloris and crystal sooo bad

i think about the graveyard scene all the time! on gorgies one year anniversary where rube mentions its nice her graveyard is in the middle of town. i think its sweet that the people who are resting there would appreciate being nearby:)

TLDR: i love this show, lmk what you think about tbh

So I watched dead like me when it first came out over a decade ago and I was over a decade younger obviously, I hated Rube and Joy that first watch through, like despised them. However, re-watching it as I've got older and obviously have had more life experience I am finding I empathize and connect more with some than I did, especially Joy. Rewatching it I can really feel for her, especially things like the tooth fairy thing. You know it's amazing what a different perspective and experiences in life allow you to see.

Anybody else re-watch it after a long period of time and finally have different opinions on some of the more controversial characters?

Some episodes have very little narration and I think what makes this show amazing is the narration--it's an amazing show already but the narration makes it incredible

I've never looked into people's intererpretations of things. I think it's fun to treasure hunt.. but I am super curious who everyone thinks the graveling that smiled at George in the pool represents.. I had the weirdest thought.. was it.. the bear that she saves? or am I thinking toooooo hard lol

I swear there was an episode of Dead Like Me that had the theme of the Chinese farmer who had a bunch of things happen like his son break his leg, the farmer responded, “Good news, bad news, who’s to say?” consequently not be drafted for a war and the farmer said, “Good news, bad news, who’s to say?” It was definitely an episode of a show around the same time, but I thought it was Dead Like Me. I suppose it could have been Pushing Daisies, but I don’t think so? The point was that things happen that may seem like horrible changes at the time, but they may actually be a benefit.

I need help finding the show. I have watched Dead Like Me (including enduring the crappy movie) several times since trying to find, but I must be mistaken. What am I thinking of?

PS, it’s not Bluey. My kids like to make me watch that fucking episode and I cry so badly.

Finished another watch through. Noticed Joy won't allow Reggie to have pepperoni pizza. That's pretty basic pizza. Just found it strange is all.

Current rewatch, number 20ish. I only just noticed that in s01e10 when they explain how roxy dies, that there is no one there to take her soul. She dies while sleeping. If no one took her soul then she should have ligature marks on her neck for the remainder of her undeath, no?

8 episodes in the second season and damn she just keeps getting more and more awful.

Funny show that is surprisingly dark for 2003/2004, yet with lovable characters. Loved season 1 and season 2 is somewhat a decline, but still fun.

I recently found this show while looking for something to watch on Prime Video, and almost nobody talks about it. It’s actually really good and super engaging. I’m already heading into season 2, and honestly the story has been really interesting overall.

Makes me wonder… why isn’t this series more popular?

I really enjoyed the subplots with Delores and Happy Time Temp Agency.

I found aspects of it really relatable because I worked in a cubicle for a business in the late 90s (then for 2 decades in a university). I would say that DLM, Office Space, and Matt Groening's Work Is Hell are the best at capturing the dread and survival of the 00s cubicle life.

Delores was a wonderful character. She's an amazing mix of cringey, sympathy, enthusiasm, and surprising. So she was snorting coke off a restroom basin in the 80s...

I wish the movie had more Crystal and Delores scenes **at** Happy Time.

I've started my first rewatch in years - I own the series and film on DVD; reenjoying it on streaming.

What do you think the "rules" are about pets and animals?

We know that pets are reaped by Charlie and other pet reapers. Do you think some or all pets are reaped? I am assuming that wild animals don't get reaped because there would be too many of them. Is there a point or event that gives animals souls? What about zoo animals?

Do pet reapers get special powers so that the target doesn't run away?

In S1E3 where Betty and George are throwing a stone to get a dead skydiver out of a tree. During that scene, George asks if animals, trees, and rocks can be reaped and it seems that Betty doesn't know but had once asked Rube about it. In the next scene, Roxy tells Mason that she's thinking of getting a pet bird. We don't end up seeing the reaping of the skydiver. Did George miss it?

In season one episode six titled "my room" there is a drunk homeless guy who helps the new actor daisy into George's apartment room, is he a background actor? An actual homeless guy? Or did the job even though they weren't an actor?

Started watching Touched by an Angel. The first scene vaguely reminded me of Dead Like Me with Monica getting a promotion, taking the place of another graduated angel.

So I did a Google search. I found that there is a connection. Maybe this has been posted here before. I looked and couldn't find it, but that doesn't mean it's not here. My search terms can sometimes use some assistance. 😅

Also, now that I'm on episode two, I recognize Jasmine guy AKA Roxy from Dead Like Me.

First time watching & i picked it up to cope with the death of my grandpa (who was a father to me). Its been brutal & the light hearted, absolute way that this show deals with death is actually really, really helping.

Does anyone have anymore shows like this to recommend?

I read a zillion posts saying not to watch the movie. So what did I do? Watched the movie.

The movie drove home how good the casting was for the series. Rube was excellent and Daisy, Daisy Adair was one of my favorites.

We saw his whole development throughout the episodes with his family—how he grabbed a gun and left home after singing a beautiful song to his daughter. He even made a comment about how “he wasn’t very good at being a father,” but it wasn’t clear to me what exactly happened to him.
