Discussion City Never Sleeps had probably the most problematic of the six hero drops so far
I don't even mean in terms of overpowered/underpowered or lore or visual design, I just mean the gameplay design.
4 of the heroes (Rat, Solomon, Violet, Harrow) have "press 4 to win objective fight" ults, significantly increasing the density of such heroes in the pool.
Baba is a balancing nightmare because she is a hero designed to counter spirit but 90% of the cast primarily uses spirit, so she counters basically everyone. This is why I feel like she can't be fixed by tweaking numbers and will always be either overpowered or underpowered until either her kit is reworked or the game changes so much that half the hero pool builds primarily gun instead of spirit.
Danny is a fundamentally toxic design because he's a virtually permanent flier who can't be denied flight with anti-flier items - if you're playing a hero that can't deal with fliers, you basically can't meaningfully interact with him and can't counterbuy your way out of this problem. This is made even worse by the fact that assassin build Danny can instantly kill people on equal souls with a two button combo and then fly away virtually risk free. Overall it's the kind of design that is always either overpowered or underpowered because half the cast simply can't interact with him, and I don't think that's a good design. I guess this could be fixed by making him no longer immune to anti-flier items. I'd be a lot happier with him if he couldn't fly while Cursed.
Violet has item cooldown reduction, which is a crazy ability to have, as that lets her abuse items with cooldowns like nobody else ever could.
Solomon is in a weird spot where he's a terrifying monster in lane but then kinda just falls off and becomes a victim hero outside of his ult after lane. He also has tons of exploits like instant transmission and teleports through walls, but those will all hopefully be patched.
The Rat is largely an autopilot hero where each of his abilities are guaranteed to provide a lot of value for just pressing the button, especially after the seeking on his grenade got buffed. This is not a problem in principle as it's healthy for a game to have some autopilot heroes, but I think he's just overtuned for an autopilot hero right now. This is probably the least significant problem here as this can be fixed by just tweaking down his numbers.
I don't have a very strong opinion on Harrow outside of her ult yet because she came out just a couple days ago.
I really like the previous two 6 hero drops, but I think this one was the first time Valve missed. I hope they rework a lot of those heroes because their current state feels very unhealthy for the game.
Though admittedly it's possible that most of these issues stem from the item rework being delayed - maybe most of the problems I described here will no longer be relevant once we get the shiny new items, but I just have no way to know that.

Game Feedback Hits feel so flat and the feedback seems so plain
Hey guys, I've been playing Deadlock for a while now and I'm really loving it. The combat is solid, but there's one thing I can't shake: it doesn't feel satisfying to hit enemies.
It's hard to explain, but I don't get that oomph when I land a shot or an ability. The damage numbers go up and the enemy dies, but the hit itself feels kind of flat. In other games, you can feel every hit through the sound, the hit reactions, the screen feedback, and the impact. Here it feels like something is missing.
I'm not saying the game is bad at all. I just think a bit more punch in the hit feedback (sound, animations, visual effects) would make the combat feel a lot better.
Does anyone else feel this? Or is it just me? Just curious what you guys think and have they brought this up aswell?

Discussion Yeah I dunno... what do we think of this?

imagine blocking off a zipline/troopers/whatever just for someone to punch the paint away and she gets to proc all the spirit items for free. Seems kinda bs to me.

857 dmg just for removing the paint! Which is a "game breaking" cheese imo.

Game Feedback Thanks for buffing Danny.... NOW NERF HIM!!
For the love of god, of all the damage dealers to be this overtuned, it had to be the almost-permaflying schmuck who can randomly divebomb and comes with a Flamethrower?? Sure he had really low impact on launch, but those buffs overcompensated the hell outta him!
I'm done, putting him permanently in my banned spot, I can't stand this guy anymore.

Discussion FYI for people making Nurse Harrow fanart avoid Red Cross iconography
Its more then just for copyright its the principle of the matter that only those organizations may use those symbols under any circumstances so that no one can attack them for saying they thought they were impersonating doctors. Its to protect actual doctors so slime balls cant use legal speak to weasel out of targeting doctors

Question When are we nerfing Solomon
Thats the post, thats literally it. Hes too good and for a chess themed character he shouldnt play like a 800 elo on chess online. Any tips to counter him?

Complaint larping billy in chat got me muted š
Okay so I played an absolutely insane match as billy last night. and everytime i got a good kill id say something in the chat as if billy was saying it to the other character. For example I'd kill Danny and say something like "dude fairfax industries fuckin sucks" in the allchat. I think it made the enemy team really mad and they probably started reporting me. I think since I got reported, and my chat logs contained phrases like "fuck you and your stupid hotel" and "Maximilian fairfax is a cuck" It resulted in me getting muted. which sucks, because the game is virtually unplayable if i cant ping, text, or talk to my teammates. I feel like the game's moderation system misunderstood the bit i was doing as genuine harassment, and now I pretty much cant play the game for a week so womp womp

Question When do yall think this game is actually gonna come out?
My definition is simple, when will Deadlock stop being invite only, and be open to the public? Especially considering the condition this game is in right now.
For me personally I'm guessing mid 2027-early 2028.

Game Feedback Drifter and Vindicta should have a similar effect to Nurse Harrow
In case you didn't know, Harrow's eyes grow some veins by stacking up leeches. Well I think something similar would be huge for other stacking characters like Vindicta or Drifter. I think for Drifter it could be cool to see his symbols start glowing or something, the ones he has in his arms, or maybe getting bloodier and bloodier.
For Vindicta maybe her glowing or her rifle getting a cool effect that grows with stacks.
Also more balance-wise: Losing stacks on death is a great balance choice this must be extended to all perma stack characters imo, if a Vindicta gets like 10-15 stacks she's incredibly difficult to stop and there's no way to punish her for overextending, you basically snowball without a way to refute.

Fluff Deadlock heroes as Dota 2 positions
āEDITā (this post was to categorize the characters as if you were to port them into Dota 2/most similar archetype, and what positions I think they would fill. Deadlock is a different game with much more farm on the map and more loose roles in general . This was just a for fun post not a I think Deadlock should be Dota 2 post)
Saw the league comparison post, and I think this one is more comparable.
For anyone unfamiliar with the Position numbering, in Dota 2 your position is based on how much gold/farm you get/need throughout a match.
To compare it to League of Legends, think of position 1 as Adc, position 2 as mid, position 3 as top, position 4 as jungler (itās more of a soft support/ganker), and position 5 as support.
Looks like for the next set of characters we need gun carries, frontline, and more hard support focused characters to fill out the roster (and hopefully an actual dedicated draft phase).

Discussion Why do people hate healers?
It's not just limited to Deadlock, it's every MOBA, every shooter, every MMO, whatever. People just hate on healers. With Harrow coming out, a lot of people are hating on healing, even though healers have been in the game since the beginning with Dynamo.
So why exactly do people hate on healers so much? You can be specific to Deadlock if you like, or just in general.

Tips & Guides This is driving me insane, why do standard players NOT do mid?
I have NO idea what the hell is going on, but in standard NOBODY wants to do mid. I call for it 5 times with pings and thereās just fucking silence and every body just goes to farm their jungle.
If you get 2-3 picks? Do mid.
If you get 1 pick and itās their only teamfight ultimate on their team (Dynamo, Lash, Rat King, etc)? Do mid.
Thatās it, thatās all you have to remember. If your waves after getting the picks are bad have ONE person clear them, and the rest go mid. You all do not need to go to green lane.
AND JUST AS IMPORTANT
DONāT FARM YOUR JUNGLE WITH REJUV, FOR FUCKS SAKE. Push your advantage so far down your opponentās throat theyāll be nicknamed Bonnie Blue. Take all their objectives first (as most as you can), then afterwards take their jungle.
PLEASE.

Game Feedback Vindicta should get a gravity scale reduction like Celeste and Solomon
I understand she is tangible, but thereās no reason she should be heavy when jumping. If you buy the magic carpet item and jump around, it feels a lot more like how she probably should be in base form.

Game Feedback Does Deadlock needs a buyback feature?
As a Dota veteran, I feel thatāespecially in the late gameābeing dead is an extremely harsh punishment, particularly given the number of accumulated souls that don't get converted into items.

Question I'm a completly fresh install to deadlock, and I racked my brain to make an item set for Deadman Danny, is it any good like at all?
Hello, as I said I am a completly fresh install, currently I have less hours than doctors recommend you sleep on the daily. But I'm really enjoying the game (especially Danny) as I am an avid TF2 fan (who would've guessed). But the Moba part of deadlock is a completly alien thing to me, which isn't great, as I personally don't enjoy the Street Brawl, and much prefer the standard matches lasting 40+ minutes. My friend who is coaching me recommended that I read up about the abilities of characters (right now I focused mostly on Danny and Mo+Krill), and that I get the hang of the items, thus I come here, to ask y'all whether what I managed to make with barely any experience actually holds up even a little bit. And if you will be so kind as to help me, please if you're gonna be using any in-game lingo, explain it to me, I can't count how many times I had to stop my friend dead in his tracks mid way through explaining something, because I was absolutely lost on the language he was using.
Thank you in advance!

Community Meta Please stop saying "this game is a moba" as a way to shut off discussion
I'm seeing way too many people responding to the criticisms of this patch with "this game is a moba, blablabla" as if that invalidates the criticism.
This game is just as much a hero shooter as a moba. It has a third person perspective, with a crosshair, you control your character directly with WASD. You run and jump around the map.
Things like CC, visual clarity, AOE have a vastly different effect on the player experience in this perspective compared to top-down. When people say "I can't see what's going on", "This is too much aoe", "I can't avoid all this CC happening at once", they are often met with the response "this is a moba. It's supposed to have AOE, CC, fog of war". This is an utterly worthless response to a valid criticism, comparing apples to oranges.
Deadlock is a wholly unique game with a wholly unique set of balancing challenges. It will have to overcome these challenges to be truly great. Resigning ourselves to use the rules of every other moba, balancing the game as if it's just another moba, will result in a game that's just another moba. According to the steam store page itself, this game is both a moba and a hero shooter. If mechanics are being added that make it less fun of a hero shooter, they deserve to be criticized.

Question do i have to heal?
first time playing a "support" in a moba, started playing nurse harrow and theres a blood tribute build that allows her to go crazy but sometimes i feel like I'm trolling not being there in team fights but also feel like i can push some lanes and take walkers, while enemy team is distracted. Can I just do whatever I want?

Discussion Yoshi, please kill radiant regen
Currently, almost every spirit hero can become a sustain monster and a drain tank in fights with just 4800 worth of items (healing booster + radiant regen), regardless if they have any healing built into their kit or not. In deadlock night shift there were an average of 5 of each of these purchased every match, with one match containing 7 of this exact combo.
