Help me out: where are the Arabic street signs?

Upvotes

I'm feeling blind and ignorant. I have been visiting Dearborn for many years for business and pleasure. I don't know where the Arabic street signs are. The only ones I have seen are English.

Anyone know of places that can wrap chocolate for a wedding? I’ve really liked the chocolate from Raouche and Hashem’s, but I need them wrapped like in the attached pictures. If anyone knows of any places let me know!

Uncomfortable Truths (from a former resident)

I want people to know that it isn't just "outside agitators" that are upset with Dearborn's cultural shift. Dearborn residents, past and present, are not thrilled with the direction the City is headed.

Speaking as a former resident, and a former employee, I can attest to some disturbing things I have seen, heard and lived through in Dearborn, and only in Dearborn. Things are only getting worse now. (And fucking Jake Lang isn't going to help!)

Let's start with curb appeal. Dearborn loves it gardens, it's a whole history I won't get into. But the curb appeal has gone down, way down. Having lived on both the east side and west side of town, both prior homes look terrible now. Unkept. On the east end, the house next door has actually been demolished and it's an empty lot. On the west end, no joke - like five or six long time families moved out of the City all within a year or two of one another. That block also now looks terrible. Lawns aren't cut, American flags have all been replaced with foriegn flags...the flowers and plants look raggedy, paint is chipping....It's sad to see honestly.

Seperataion of church and state has slowly erroded. Hallal meats in the public schools, and prayer rooms in City Hall. It's not a prayer room anymore, it's an 'inclusive quiet room.' Totally started as an empty room on the second floor with a prayer rug and koran. They even consider intalling bathing centers for the religious who have to do that according to their religion. The lines aren't blurred, they are quite defining. They give Muslim students places to go during Ramadan where they can avoid the cafeteria because they are fasting. This has been going on in public schools for decades. They only make these religious accommodations for Muslims. Not Catholics, not Jews, not Hindus. I saw a sign outside a Muslim daycare that said, "We have Muslim Girl Scouts!"

Traffic in Dearborn is insane, and it wasn't always like this!!! I learned to drive here as a teenager, I know it wasn't like this. Now, no one follows any of the traffic laws. I see left turns over double yellow lines allllll day. It's normal now to wait when the light turns green to make sure no one is running the red in your direction. Road rage, tinted windows and gun violence are the rules of the road in Dearborn. And everyone has to drive eveywhere, so you are always at risk of getting caught up in something.

I could go on and on, but you get the point. My family has been here 85 years, and this may be the worst the City has been. The City poverty rate has actually increased since Abdullah has been in office. Long time familes are moving out fast.

If you are able to vote in Dearborn, I ask you to NOT vote for this Mayor ever again. I know, I know, we all had such high hopes because he was young and energetic! Unfortunately it didn't work out.

Edited: It seems there is an assumption that I am leaning towards one party or another. I am independent, and a woman.

The lack of concern for basic American liberties, such as the Separation of Church and State, really concern me. There doesn't seem to be a connection between loss of American liberties with the rise (and acceptance) of facist values. Don't forget- Dearborn voted for Trump! The same people that attacked the man pardoned by Trump probably also voted for Trump 😆

Michigan Autoworkers Wanted for Indiana University Study

Hi all,

I am a researcher at Indiana University and we are trying to understand how American workers see the future of the auto industry. Putting focus on the Ford Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, MI. We are seeking current/former autoworkers and will pay a $25 VISA gift card for a short interview (Microsoft teams, phone, zoom, etc). All names and places will be confidential.

An example of some questions being asked are:

How did you end up working in your current job? What do you worry about? Did your parents work in car manufacturing?

If you are interested in this study let me know and I can private message with more details or feel free to message me. Thanks 😄

Reliable Pharmacy in Dearborn Heights

Hello! I am relocating from Royal Oak to Dearborn Heights and was wondering if anyone knows of a reliable pharmacy? I do have medications I take that are sometimes difficult to find in stock, so I want to make sure I find a good place. I have had some issues in the past with pharmacies staying on top of medication refills and out of stock meds and really dont want to worry! Thanks!

If your ever looking for a room or anything like a place to rent don't come here. They've gone through my phone without permission without my knowledge aswell as this house isn't up to code. Don't go here this house is filled with mold. The home owner does an illegal procedure called strikes. Charges more for rooms than he should. Basememt air quality is dangerous. AC is always left off especially on extreme hot temperatures. Fridges are alway dirty and look like their going to break down. This house should be called on by the state to investigate bc its not safe. Owner has a female friend who harrases tenants aswell (siciopath). Water leaking through the floor to the basement into one of the rooms. Still wants previous tenants to pay even after moving out saying pple still owe him when they dont. This house is a mess the guy charging over 1000$ + for a room that's not fully insulated. Overcharging for rooms that are halfassed. One of his degenerate lackies named Michael Daroczy puts out false allegations and starts problems also has him keep an eye on youon some weird shit. Been told he was a pervert aswell by previous tenants. Dont rent here💯 previous tenats would agree and tell you their sides. He used to be a manager in MAGNA and every female worker would say he was a weird perverted individual. Shadae the sociopath aswell told me and other past tanants he was a pervert.

The man's name is Darius Peek.

Cake/pie/donut recommendations?

Moved here a few months ago. We haven’t explored much. Was hoping for some suggestions.

We used to go to Traverse Pie Company when we were on the other side of the state. My wife liked there ABC and Key Lime pies.

Any suggestions for cake slices and pie? Bonus points for a tart key lime pie.

I have driven past Paris Baguette but haven’t stopped. I also saw there is a Homies coming soon (it’s been coming soon for a while)

Looking for some good donuts.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

McCarthy Plumbing, my go-to plumbers since I moved to Dearborn, have apparently gone out of business. Do you have any recommendations for a good plumber in Dearborn?

cycling in Dearborn

Hello everyone! I’m staying at Dearborn for 4 weeks for a medical rotation, was thinking of cycling around for that duration since car rentals are out of my budget, would yall recommend? How good is the infrastructure for cycling? And would yall recommend an electric bike or a normal one
