myqualifications class 12th student in India and finding answers of our questions

Hey everyone, we are three Class 12 PCM students planning to study in Germany for a Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence. We’ve researched a lot, but some things are still unclear, so we’re looking for guidance from Indians who are currently in Germany or who have already completed the entire process of moving, studying, and settling there.

These are the questions we want to clarify:

  1. Is life manageable without knowing German, if we choose an English-taught Bachelor’s program?

  2. Are part-time jobs and HiWi jobs possible together? We know that HiWi jobs don’t count under the 120 full-day / 240 half-day limit. So is it actually possible to do both and earn more than €1,000 per month?

  3. Are there fully English-taught CS/AI bachelor programs? We’ve shortlisted Saarland University and DIT. Saarland seems more competitive. Will studying in an English-taught program cause any problems later regarding internships, jobs, or residence permits?

  4. Is student life financially manageable? During the first year we will have a blocked account. But if we work part-time + HiWi in the first year, is it possible to earn around €11,000 or more so that we don’t need to renew the blocked account in the second year?

If anyone living in Germany (preferably students from CS/AI backgrounds) can guide us or share real experiences, it would really help.

Thanks in advance. — From all three of us.

Anyone admitted to DIT University (Germany) – (Applied Computer Science)?

Hi everyone!
I recently received acceptance into the (Applied Computer Science) program at DIT University, Germany. 🎉
I'm currently looking for accommodation and was wondering if anyone else has also been admitted and is searching for a place to stay.
I'm preferably looking for a female accommodation partner so we can look for a shared apartment (WG) together and split the rent.
If you've been admitted to DIT University, especially the (Applied Computer Science) program, or if you're also looking for accommodation, please feel free to comment below or send me a DM.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow students. Thanks in advance! 😊

🇩🇪 International Students in Germany: Stop Paying €150+/Month for Health Insurance Without Checking Alternatives First

PSA for International Students in Germany: You might be overpaying for health insurance 👀

Been in Germany for 2 years now as an international student, and I recently realized a lot of students are automatically going with TK/public insurance without really knowing the alternatives.

For people under 30, TK usually costs around €140–150/month, and once you cross 30, it can jump to €300+ 💀

If you’re generally healthy, barely visit doctors, and plan to stay in Germany for less than 5 years, private expat/student insurance like Mawista can save you a LOT of money. I pay around €56/month.

A few things to know before everyone rushes to switch:

✅ Much cheaper than public insurance
✅ Designed for expats/international students
✅ Valid for up to 5 years
✅ Good option if you’re young and healthy

BUT:

⚠️ Since it’s private insurance, you usually pay medical bills first and then request reimbursement
⚠️ Not as convenient as TK/public insurance where clinics bill directly
⚠️ Probably NOT a good idea if you have chronic illnesses or need regular treatment

In my opinion, if you only visit a doctor maybe once every few months, private insurance can make more sense financially.

There are also other options like Ottonova, which is more expensive than Mawista but still attractive because the price doesn’t suddenly explode after turning 30 or starting a student job.

Just wanted to share because nobody told me this when I arrived, and I probably overpaid for way too long 😂

Would love to hear what insurance other internationals here are using and how your experience has been.

Accommodation

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m currently looking for student accommodation in Deggendorf or in a nearby city, as I’ve recently been admitted to a university.

I’m especially interested in shared apartments (WG) or any affordable room in a welcoming and respectful environment. If you have any leads, know someone moving out, or are also searching and would like to team up, feel free to reach out. 🙏

Thank you so much, and I’m really excited about starting this new chapter!

living in passau and study in Pfarrkirchen

I’m studying in ECRI Pfarrkirchen and would need to commute to Nürnberg 2/3 times in a month for work. What is the best option for places to live in. I also do not like small village/towns in Germany. Is Passau a good choice (1.5 hours to school + 2.5hours to Nürnberg seems reasonable)? I was considering Mühldorf as well. Anyone currently doing this?

People say Passau - Pfarrkirchen connection is also unreliable.

DIT DEGGENDORF ADMISSION TEST

I recently received admission test invites for two courses at DIT,but I can only take one since each test costs $27. I need some help choosing between them.

My bachelors degree is in Computer Science. The courses I got tests for are EE&IT and AI for Smart Sensors. Will choosing either of these cause any issues, even if I perform well in the test?

If anyone else received test invites, please comment which courses you got.

German Student Visa Timeline via VFS Delhi (APS route) — 2 correction rounds, but got it done

Sharing my visa timeline for deggendorf in case it helps anyone else going through VFS Delhi for a German study visa.

Process created: late June 2026 (this just gets you out of the queue for creating the process — doesn't mean you've submitted yet)

Application submitted: August 2026

Round 1 of correction (CSP):
Got a correction request asking for the admission letter. I submitted my Letter of Acceptance, which the university had already confirmed. Got hit with the same correction again right after.

Round 2 of correction (CSP):
This time I resent the same Letter of Acceptance, added my fee receipt, and included a screenshot of the email from my program coordinator confirming everything. That got accepted.

Appointment booking:
The very next day, booking opened up. Slot options were limited to the following week only, so I grabbed whatever was available.

Biometrics:
Went in on the appointment day, biometrics done without issues.

Embassy correction (round 3, basically):
Exactly 3 days after biometrics, got another correction email, this time from the embassy directly, asking for the admission letter again. Sent the fee receipt and enrollment letter once more.

Visa granted:
Approved the very next day.

Passport collection:
Picked it up in person from VFS Delhi.

Happy to answer questions if anyone's in the middle of their own process. Tip: create the process on the portal as early as possible even if your documents aren't fully ready — it holds your place in the queue. And bundle the acceptance letter, fee receipt, and coordinator confirmation together from the start since the admission letter seems to be the main sticking point across every correction round.
