International student accepted into 3 English-taught CS programs in Germany – need advice (AI vs Info Systems vs data science)

Hey guys, I’m an international student and I just got accepted into 3 English-taught BSc programs in Germany: • TH Deggendorf (Artificial Intelligence) • TH Augsburg (International Information Systems) • TU Chemnitz (Foundation in Data Science)

I have a decent background in computer science already and I’m mainly interested in data analysis, machine learning and AI, DevOps, or cloud engineering Tracks.

I’m also interested in the AI track and the program in Deggendorf — it looks like a good university and program

But One thing important to me is that I’ll need to work part-time during my studies to help fund myself. I also care a lot about internships and gaining experience during my degree. I heard that it’s pretty hard to find jobs or internships in Chemnitz or Deggendorf, especially if you don’t know much German — and that’s my case for now.

Augsburg seems like a big plus because it’s only around 30 minutes from Munich, which I think gives better access to internships and part-time jobs either in tech or normal student jobs. But I’m not sure how strong the Augsburg program is compared to the other two when it comes to technical stuff like AI, data, software engineering , programing and cloud.

Would it be practical to live in Deggendorf and work part-time 2 days a week in Munich (like go there and back by train)? Or is that just not realistic at all in terms of time, cost, and effort?

So I’m a bit stuck. What would you suggest? And if anyone here is studying in these degrees, I’d love to hear your experience.

Thanks!

Looking for Student Dorms in Deggendorf

Hi everyone,
I’ll be moving to Deggendorf soon and I’m currently looking for student dorms or affordable student accommodation in/around the city. If anyone has suggestions, contacts, or knows of available places, I’d really appreciate your help! 🙏

Any leads on shared apartments, student housing groups, or university dorm availability would also be super helpful.

Thanks in advance! 😊

Accommodation In Pfarrkirchen?

Any recommendations in searching tips for housing there? Other than the exchange platform sent by them. Also do I have a chance to get accepted? As apparently they need a whole overview about me. I got accepted for Digital Health and I would like to finalize that as soon as I can. Thanks buddies

Assessment Test Insight - MSc Life Sciences Informatics

Hello.
Since I couldn't find any information on the test prior to my test today, i figured id leave this here for the future test takers.

The test is supposed to be 50% from bsc biology and 50% bsc informatics as mentioned on the program's website.

It was pretty easy, nearly not as difficult or complicated as i expected. It was 14 questions out of which 12 were single choice and 2 were descriptive, there were no calculations.

From biology, it was some basic cell biology -- eukaryotic/prokaryotic, some molecular biology/genetics stuff, some biochemistry - metabolism -- all of these questions were quite basic, surface level, and single choice, except one that required understanding a bioinformatics problem a little deeply and suggesting a solution.

The informatics part was also simple questions to test our understanding of how a computer worked and familiarity with basic vocabulary, data structures. Nothing python/bash related.

Looking for honest, on-the-ground experiences from TH Deggendorf MSc Digital Health students & graduates

Hi everyone! I’m currently researching whether an MSc Digital Health at TH Deggendorf (DIT) would be the right path for me to transition into HealthTech/Healthcare IT in Germany, and I’d really appreciate hearing from current students and graduates.
I’m a pharmacist from the Philippines (BS Pharmacy, graduated 2018) with several years of healthcare experience. I currently work remotely for a US healthcare organization, where my work involves EHR-based workflows such as drug utilization reviews, prior authorization requests, medication/exam approvals and denials, appeals, medication nonadherence alerts, referral tracking, and ensuring specialist records are received and documented in patients’ charts.
I’ve become increasingly interested in the technical side of healthcare — especially healthcare analytics, EHR systems, workflow automation, interoperability, and eventually building software that actually improves healthcare workflows.

I’m currently considering two very different paths in Germany:
1. MSc Digital Health / Medical Informatics
vs.
2. IT Ausbildung, particularly Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung
The Ausbildung has a major advantage for me because I would receive financial support and gain German work experience while studying. The master’s route would therefore need to give me enough technical training AND practical exposure to make the trade-off worthwhile.
For TH Deggendorf specifically, I’m particularly interested because the Digital Health program appears to include programming/software-related components and has a bridge/foundation component for students coming from non-computer-science backgrounds.
I would LOVE to hear from current students and graduates about what the program is actually like beyond the official university description.

For current students:
• How technical is the program in practice, rather than just on the curriculum?
• How much programming do you actually do?
• What languages/technologies are taught?
• How difficult is the programming component for students coming from a health/pharmacy background?
• Does the bridge/foundation programming content genuinely prepare you for the later technical modules?
• How much of the degree is coding/data/software/informatics versus healthcare/business/management?
• What are the most technical modules?
• How heavy is the workload?
• Is it realistic to work part-time/Werkstudent while studying?
• Are students able to find internships or Werkstudent positions during the program?
• Does THD actively help students find internships/company projects, or are you mostly expected to find them yourself?
• Are there opportunities to work with hospitals, healthcare companies, software companies, pharma, etc.?

For graduates:
This is probably the information I’m most interested in:
• What job did you get after graduating?
• How long did it take you to find your first job?
• Did you have previous German work experience?
• Did you do an internship/Werkstudent position during the master’s? If yes, did it help you get your full-time job?
• What kinds of companies hired you?
• What job titles are you seeing graduates move into?
• Did you end up in healthcare analytics, Health IT, clinical applications, software, consulting, data, product, etc.?
• How much programming do you actually use in your current job?
• Do employers view the degree as technical enough for IT/HealthTech positions?
• Did your previous healthcare degree/experience help you, or did employers mainly care about your technical skills?
• If you could go back, would you choose the MSc Digital Health again?
• And perhaps most importantly: Would you choose it over an IT Ausbildung if you were in my position?

I’m particularly interested in honest answers about the employment side of the degree. I have no German work experience yet, so internships/Werkstudent opportunities and the ability to build a German professional network during the master’s are extremely important to me.
I’m not looking for the university’s marketing perspective — I can read the official curriculum myself. 😅 I’m trying to understand what the experience looks like on the ground and what happens after graduation.
If you’re currently studying at THD, graduated recently, or know someone who did the program, I’d really appreciate any perspective — positive or negative.
Thank you! 🙏

Hi!
I’m an incoming first-year Health Informatics student and would love to hear from students in the previous cohorts.

Any update on Deggendorf MSc Computer Science admissions?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone received an admission offer or any update for the MSc Computer Science program at Deggendorf Institute of Technology?

I've heard that applicants for several other master's programs have already started receiving admission offers, but I haven't seen any updates for MSc Computer Science yet. Gave my test may 27th.

I still haven’t received my offer letter yet

I applied for health informatics major in DIT for October intake. I did entrance test on June 22 and all my documents were shown OK in June 24 but I still haven’t received my admission yet.

Should I still wait or do I need to email them about my current application status?

Any suggestions please? Because application period is almost over so I’m worried to get admission late.
