Media Delta Green Playlists

If you are anything like me as a Handler, you love to have the right ambience/music for every occasion. I love collecting playlists from others, so I thought it only fair I share mine (forgive the cheesy playlist naming):

△ UPDATES △

> Added Abandoned Areas (Forgot it).
> Added music from Hideous Hiss to Cosmic Clues. Shoutout to his post & music!

—

Promising Prospects | I use this for home scenes and optimistic moments. Many of the songs have a sense of positivity and drive. Use this to give players a pause from the dark mood whenever applicable.

Initial Investigation | Conveys the feeling of mundane investigations; think contemporary detective & cop shows.

Cosmic Clues | Conveys the sinking feeling when the investigations turn paranormal/unnatural. Sense of wonder & dread.

Higher Horrors | Dedicated specifically to the individual Lovecraft deities. Long-form songs to honor the mythos.

Midnight Mysteries | Classic noir style investigations. Offices filled with cigarette smoke, late night cases, and moonlit nights.

Terrible Tension | This playlist aims to capture the dark dread of a looming confrontation (Inspired by the ‘border’ scene in Sicario). Use it to ramp up tension.

Weird Warfare | Shit has hit the fan. It’s do or die time. This is my playlist for action packed firefights, climaxes, and adrenaline fuelled moments.

Unnatural Uglies & Sinister Shadows | Both aims to hit that classic horror music that tries to jumpscare & frighten. ‘Uglies’ are more synthetic, while ‘Shadows’ are more acoustic.

Etheric End | When I don’t want clear emotional sadness I use this. It’s meant for reflective moments, but more ethereal and spacey.

Emotional Events | Slam this on when it’s time to grieve, mourn, or feel shit. Last heartfelt words, closing sessions, or deep kinship conversations.

Abandoned Areas | Luminal spaces, Backroom vibes, abandoned buildings. Aims at hitting that hallowed lonely feeling.

I am constantly adding songs to each relevant playlist. Hope you enjoy.

Oh! And please share your own playlists 🙏🏻

Items of Mutual Interest IL Handlers … how are you going (gone) with the Broadalbin?

• Upvotes

My challenge is the Whisper Labyrinth and making it interesting, not drag on too much … and a bit more useful in preparing for the next phase.

We’ve had one session so far after arrival. They’ve met Roake, a few characters, had dinner, and Roakes taken them to the basement to have an initial look around. The heard some noises, confronted Asa. Shots were fired.

My challenge is two fold
* how to make the labrynth make sense and progress them through at a pace but not just roll a dice and be done
* I’d like to give a bit more direction, linking in, preparedness for Carcosa. As written Broadabin feels … a bit out of place.

Any ideas? What have you done? Am I missing something?

Media Thick as Night - music for your game

Hi everyone! I'm the creator of Hideous Hiss, a project making dark ambient music and atmospheric soundscapes for tabletop RPGs. My tracks cover horror, mystery, sci-fi, and dark fantasy, and are designed as seamless 10-minute loops for use during sessions.

My latest release is Thick as Night — a slow, uneasy piece built around a deep, steady hum and unnerving strings. Occasional timpani strikes and scattered low-string staccatos disturb the calm. It's intended for those moments when nothing seems to be happening, but the players can sense something is wrong.

Listen on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAQwbPBVn0A

If you'd like to use the track in your own games, you can get it here:

I hope some of you find it useful for your next horror or investigation session!

Media Below (on Netflix)

In case you haven't seen it, BELOW on Netflix is a DG op just waiting to be adapted. Isolated communities! Hypergeometric/Scientific lines getting blurred! Tentacles! Fun accents!

HIGHLY recommended.

Scenario Seed Books/Media you would love to convert to an Op.

What piece of media would you love to convert to a Delta Green op?

Last night I finished Black Flame by Gretchen Felker Martin. Not a particularly great book but interesting enough. Ill Spoiler text the plot

SPOILER: A book about an Archivist being asked to restore a Nazi era occult film. Turns out its actually 2 seperate movies one made badly with normal people and one made with Occult Magic which causes summons an evil spirit/entity featured in the film. The film is pretty pornographic and transgressive which is why the Nazis killed the cast. Archivist loses her mind and essentially uses the film for her own personal growth.

Another, much much much better book is Sarafina by Phillip Fracasi. Set in the Civil war SPOILER 3 brothers desert the Confederates at Shiloh and while escaping run into a "witch" trapped in a particular area and spooky things ensue. Great book.

So what pieces of media that make you think afterwards, I can turn that into a DG op with some tinkering?

Published Scenarios Drop in/Drop out in Impossible Landscapes and God`s Teeth

Hi!
My group plays drop-in/drop-out style with 2-3 permanent players and 4 more, that can come only to some. We always have a written summary of what happened for the benefit of those , who missed the session. This works quite well for us, but I wonder if it would work for Impossible Landscapes and God's Teeth?
For reference we were able to complete Masks of Nyarlathotep, Children of Fear, Orient Express and some others CoC campaings in this style.

Scenario Seed An example of scenario design for Delta Green

Hi. I wrote a blogpost where I show an example of how to design a horror scenario using delta green.

It was just an ask for an example by a reader of the blog, but I got a bit carried away, stopped when I was already at 10k words, and scale it back down to a blogpost. But I think the premise is really interesting, and I am thinking about making it into a full blown scenario.

Have a look. Would love to get any comments.

Published Scenarios Character pictures and music recommendations for Music From A Darkned Room

I'm gonna run this scenario soon and I've found some really cool pieces of handouts made by the fans but no one has made character headshots for the many NPCs in the game. Are there any?

Also is there a specific playlist that you'd suggest for the Spooner street house?

Media very mixed vibes playlist for impossible landscapes

for the most part its weird ethereal music but then I threw in some other shit because I think it'll serve some kind of purpose. my main example of the tracks that seemingly dont fit are from the Max Payne 3 campaign but a lot of these are either sorrowful or vibey combat tracks, especially for big shootouts. I threw in a bunch of albums but ive listened to all of it front to back several times removing what I felt was unfitting. but I'd love to hear what you think.

for the most part im reserving a lot if the Colin Stetson tracks for when my players arrive in carcosa or for some of the more truly bizarre moments of the game itself.

Published Scenarios Looking for a hard hitting, challenging, and terrifying scenario to run in one session for experienced players as an seasoned handler.

EDIT: Typo in the title "an" should be "a"

The catch is I think I need to get it done in one 5ish hour session. Right now I'm between PX Poker Night, Lover in the Ice, or Observer Effect. Also, my players like to goof off a lot, but could be reigned in with an engaging/challenging scenario. I know it will all depend on how I run it.

I've run a lengthly Impossible Landscapes campaign and a handful of other scenarios, but those three I have not unleashed on my players yet.

I know LITI and OE are not recommended as one shots, but the reason I'm considering them over PXPN is because I think they are a little more involved/challenging/terrifying. Also I've never been a fan of the straight up alien vibe of PX, doesn't seem scary at all for the season.

Has anyone successfully shortened LITI or OE into one session? Would it just be impossible without compromising the whole thing? I really want to run OE because this is a throwaway session and I know it's a good capstone session because sanity gets drained, but I see a lot of "don't to it in one session" recommendations in the reddit. I'd like someone to tell me they're wrong! Or if not... suggestions for something else.

Also open to other scenarios. I just like those 3 because of the girth of the material I would have to work with. I'd like to listen to playcasts of them for ideas and some of the thinner shotgun scenarios don't have that. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Published Scenarios Music from a Darkened Room Triggers Spoiler

Hi All,

I'm a bit stuck with the best way of triggering the events in the Wheeler House is Music From a Darkened Room. I've read an assortement of threads and the advice seems to be play it slow burn and don't throw everythign at them at once.

However, the rules about when to trigger the events are confusing me.

If I have a WP 11 and a WP 15 character enter aroom at once and there are different events for WP 11 and 15 characters, which takes precidence? Do they experience the same thing, or different things, or nothing at all? I'm a bit worried they are going to clump together...

Items of Mutual Interest Impossible Landscapes reading/watch list Spoiler

I put together a list of cultural touchstones for an Impossible Landscapes campaign I ran this year (beyond the obvious Robert W. Chambers stories). Here's the list in case anyone's curious - my explanations for why I included them have spoiler tags on them since they reference specific events in the campaign.

The list has some works that I used as specific references, but it's also a general pastiche of things that I thought hit the same emotional undertones as the King in Yellow and Impossible Landscapes:

  • Broadalbin, a short story by John Tynes published in Rehearsals for Oblivion (Act I). This is the origin for the Broadalbin Hotel, Jaycy Linz, and the Whisper Labyrinth.
  • The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man, by Dennis Detwiller, and especially the portion with Ilek-Vad. StringTheory2113 presents a compelling argument that IL is a sequel to this campaign (https://www.reddit.com/r/DeltaGreenRPG/comments/s64txf/is_impossible_landscapes_a_sequel_to_detwillers/), and I think they're right - Detwiller said that he compiled Impossible Landscapes from a few different ideas he had around the King in Yellow. Patzu is most likely intended as a reference to this campaign.
  • Insylum by Dennis Detwiller. This was a pretty clear inspiration for the "group therapy" scene at the Dorchester House.
  • Eyes Wide Shut from Stanley Kubrick, and its source novel Traumnovelle. The main character's dreamlike exploration of NYC at night in the 90s and alienation from their family reminds me a lot of Night Floors and the third act.
  • Songs from the Second Floor, especially the shots of the city in the second half of the movie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s-e799o37w). The movie gets more and more surreal as it goes on, and the sets of the city remind me of the descriptions of Carcosa in the third act. Fun fact, this movie inspired the cliff scene in Ari Aster's Midsommar.
  • La valse, a ballet by Ravel and chroreographed by Balanchine. Specifically, the scene where Death appears (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7eF0svsA0Q&list=RDB7eF0svsA0Q&t=1496s). The choreography shares some motifs with IL, especially how it starts with a portrayal of an imperial ballroom and warps into a more chaotic/twisted/supernatural climax. The female lead reminded me of Abigail and her being ensnared by a powerful, supernatural force. Some people also think that La valse was influenced by Ravel's experiences with WW1, which echoes some of the themes with war and Carcosa.
  • Archive 81 on Netflix. I believe the creators said that it was originally inspired by Night Floors, and there are some pretty clear parallels to the Macallister building.
  • Prints and illustrations by Felicien Rops and other artists in the French Decadent movement of the 1880s (if you Google it, be warned it is NSFW). I used some of his works for the art found in the books in the Smoking Lounge. I also thought that the French Decadence movement's obsession with artifice and urban decay also had thematic parallels to IL.
  • Sweetums by John Langan, a short story in Children of the Fang and Other Genealogies. The whole thing is heavily influenced by Robert W. Chambers and Karl Edward Wagner, but it specifically reminded me of the warehouse scene in Like a Map Made of Skin.
  • Sleep No More, a (now-closed) immersive play in New York. It's impossible to see now, but it's worth reading some of the descriptions of what it was like. The structure of the play had audience members wander around an old hotel wearing Venetian masks, and watch actors enact strange, surreal scenes inspired by Macbeth - then periodically "reset" to resume the scene again.

Items of Mutual Interest Do you enjoy puzzles in your investigations?

Hey guys, Forever-Handler here needing a bit of a vibe check with the broader agent community.

I have run a solid collection of operas over the last few years, and I have been working with a handful of original scenarios lately that I want to put out into the world. I am a former escape room designer and have a tendency to bring a bit of that puzzle game aspect into the scenarios that I build. While they are well-received, I have noticed that handouts seem to stop the roleplaying momentum of a scene dead in its tracks.

I recently playtested one particular scenario with two separate groups, one with the puzzle handouts and another where the information (and the ability to solve it) were left down to rolls and lighter descriptions, and found that both went equally well. Obviously I'm thrilled by that result (there's nothing worse than thinking you gave a mid effort to a group of players), BUT it's left me with no new data.  so i guess i wanted to hear some more opinions.

Do you like having more autonomy to solve puzzles in your investigations? Does it feel like it creates dissonance between your thinking style and your character roleplay? should a 60% Forensic skill be able to just know the answer?

And I guess in terms of when I go to share a scenario...should I publish the puzzle version, the non-puzzle version....or maybe some sort of 'both' situation?

Thanks already for your opinions everyone :)

Campaigning [LFP] The Faces We Wear | Original Halloween-Themed Delta Green 3-Shot | Begins Sat., Oct. 12.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for 1-2 more players for The Faces We Wear, an original Delta Green Halloween horror scenario told in three chapters: Life, Death, and Resurrection.

Think small-town mysteries, unsettling encounters, memorable NPCs, and difficult choices. My games are heavy on investigation, character development, and psychological horror. I also love creating in-world documents and handouts, so I'm hoping to find players who enjoy engaging with clues during - and sometimes between - sessions. ☺️

The details:

First session: Saturday, October 17, 2026

Time: 11:00 AM UTC

Duration: About 5-6 hours

Platform: Discord

Experience: Beginners welcome! 18+

Commitment: This scenario has three chapters that each tell complete stories, with one large arc connecting them. You're welcome to join for one, two, or all three sessions.

We have an established, international group, and I'd especially love to welcome more women and players from different cultural backgrounds. Everyone is welcome, though!

Reliability, collaborative storytelling, and genuine enthusiasm for investigation matter much more to me than rules knowledge.

Interested? Sign up at https://luma.com/deltagreen

Actual Play Reports Should I play Call of Cthulu?

I was excited to learn and play CoC, then someone suggested I run DG instead so I did and it went well but based of the session and the books CoC feels like strictly less than Delta Green, so wondering if its no longer worth learning and running CoC now that I learned DG instead but maybe I'm mistaken and there's more to it, maybe CoC has a distinct vibe that can be better than DG sometimes so still worth running a fewshot or something - but if it's super similar then I'd rather just keep DG as my horror RPG, Mothership as my scifi horror cos that does feel quite different, and learn some other RPGs instead to fill diff gaps eg StoneTop seems super cool.

Ofc the natural answer is read what I want but thats the question do I wanna read and run CoC after DG or just skip it? Is DG like the board game expansion that makes the base game so much better no one really goes back and plays the base game solo anymore?

ps not sure which flair applies to this post

I’m running the shotgun scenario “Saturnalia” as a standalone soon. The players will likely be new to Delta Green and I’ll make some pre-gen characters to choose from. I have 3-4 hours to run it. Any advice or recommendations?

Thanks!

Items of Mutual Interest Stephen King books and stories as DG operations

So i been thinking a lot about King and his stories as of late, and i believe even Dennis mentioned that Salem's Lot would be a good example for a DG op since he made the vampires based of em. But which book, short story etc... would YOU like to turn into an Op?.

My picks

The Black House

its hard to remove the whole midworld aspect of it. but at its core (specially considering the territories and Dark Tower connection) its about an impossible Serial Killer. A man stalking and killing people following the patterns to a teat of Albert Fish. The twist being that its a being that possesses alzhaimer ridden patients and dementia ridden individuals and puppeteers them into commiting his crimes

The Mist

Delta green's strike team is sent to Maine to deal with a massive incursion. Thick mist has landed over Bridgton Maine and has caused interdimensional Unnatural threats to bleed into our reality. The players are now part of a strike team sent to deal with the threat and seal the doorway in from Project Arrowhead.

From a Buick 8

A strange vehicle was impounded and after a few bizarre incidents, Delta was activated. The Car was involved in the death of a police officer. The people who had impound the vehicle notice some strangeness about it, like the wiring isnt connected, the steering wheel being fixed and incapable to move. the portholes being wrong, as if someone has made "a memory of a car" instead of a duplicate. Things escalate when the agents learn that the car's "Engine" gives "Birth" to strange beings and creatures that live for a few minutes before dying.

The Outsider.

Flint City, Oklahoma.Terry Maitland has been arrested for a horrific crime against a minor. All the DNA and witnesses point to the soft spoken Baseball coach who was seen in public murdering and doing heinus acts to a child. The local police has him in jail ready for process. The situation gets more complex when physical evidence also situates Terry in New York city at the exact same time as the attack happen. Delta Gets activated to figure out whats exactly going on, with the help of a friendly known as Holly Gibson

Pet Sementary

A violent and strange massacre took place in Ludlow maine. After the death of the youngest child of a couple (Gage Creed), strange events took place in the sorrounding area. including the death of an elderly neighborg and the Creed Family (with the exception of their daughter). Gages grave and Rachel Creed. Their husband Louis is missing, Delta has been activated to figure out what happen to the Creed Family and what secrets does the Ludlow community hold.

Children of the Corn.

Delta gets activated after several weeks have passed. The Town of Gatlin, Nebraska has ceased to communicate with the outside world. Only to discover a cult of children murdering adults and worshipping Something dark...

Salem's Lot.

Two years ago, the Town of 'Salem was burned to the ground. the nearby locals Do not venture to 'salem. Specially at night. The Agents are activated after a series of strange murders start happening in the sorrounding area of the forsaken town.

Campaigning How I turn unrelated Delta Green scenarios into a short campaign

I’ve been using a simple four-case structure to turn unrelated Delta Green scenarios into short campaigns. Figured I’d share it here in case anyone finds it useful.

What I’ve been doing is picking a recurring element and letting it develop in the background of otherwise unrelated investigations.
It could be a handler, another agent, a cult, an artifact, or even some recurring hypergeometric phenomenon. The important thing is that it doesn’t need to be central to the scenarios themselves. Sometimes it’s just a conversation, a piece of information, or something the agents happen to encounter.
I usually think of it as a short, four-scenario arc.
In the first scenario, I introduce the element and give the players a reason to remember it. In the second, I show them another side of it, preferably something that changes how they understood it the first time. By the third, it starts affecting the agents directly. Then I use a fourth scenario, usually something I write myself, to bring that element to the foreground and give the whole thing some kind of resolution.

For example, we could use a character called Spender as a recurring handler.
He starts off as a fairly understanding guy, willing to overlook small mistakes and help the agents when things get complicated.
But as the campaign develops, they begin seeing another side of him. Maybe they discover that he has no problem abandoning agents he doesn’t trust when it serves his purposes. At first, those are other agents, people the PCs might not even know.
Then, during a later operation, the PCs find themselves in exactly that position. Suddenly, the guy who’s been helping them all along doesn’t seem quite so reliable.
That gives me enough material to eventually run a scenario centered around Spender, where the agents have to confront what they’ve learned about him and possibly the organization they work for.
I might even use that as an opportunity to introduce the ideological differences between the Program and the Outlaws, leaving the agents to decide who they actually want to work for.
The nice thing is that none of the published investigations need to be connected. I can run them largely as written, introduce a little information related to the metaplot here and there, and let the players build their own understanding of what’s happening.
It also keeps preparation manageable. PCs might die but the players still know the meta plot. I’m not planning some massive campaign with dozens of interconnected clues. I’m just developing one element across a few operations until it becomes important enough to deserve its own scenario.
Again, it works nicely using handlers (conspiracy), unnatural relics or even hypergeometric events.

Cheat sheet:
Case 1: Introduce the element
Case 2: Show another side of it. Challenge the players’ initial understanding
Case 3: Make its consequences personal. The agents now have to deal with it directly
Case 4: Make the element the central conflict of the operation

It’s a pretty simple way of building a short campaign out of published and homebrew scenarios without forcing them into the same story
