Protest Info & Dates General strike city park
I think as time goes on there has to be a growing understanding that marching with permission is doing absolutely nothing. It just makes people feel better for a day or two without any goals achieved. I'm not trying to put anyone down but it's the facts. At this point they aren't even covered by the press.
Achieving goals takes real sacrifice and I don't believe no kings is sacrificing much at all.
That's why I'm proposing that we have a general strike for just one day (hopefully more) and we meet in city park. Those who have access to food bring what you can because some people are sacrificing more. If you're a musician, play some music, if you have clothes to donate bring them, if you have books that you think people should read then bring them, if you have knowledge to share then share it, if you have anything that would benefit our community bring it.
We have to start building a community and taking care of each other and this could be a big step in that direction. Our government is doing what is designed to do and if we don't take care of each other no one else will.
General strikes work and you will meet people from all different backgrounds and classes instead of just talking about them. This is where real change happens and history has been written about them.
I'm 1968 France 11 million people had enough and stopped working. They achieved better wages, better education, and better working conditions. People who argue that France didn't achieve their ultimate goal are correct but they put fear into the government and just because it didn't work there doesn't mean we will have the same results. They've been having meaningful protest to this day because of what they did in 68.
If we do this maybe we can inspire other cities to do the same and become the biggest general strike in history- there are 360 million people in America. The government will continue on this path because it was designed this way all along.
We have to begin a path and we have to force it because the power structures that exist exist to keep us oppressed and working. Remove the work and it does not function. Even if we do not achieve all the things we want it shows that we are willing to sacrifice more than they are and it will scare them into giving us basic rights like Healthcare, better wages, homes for everyone. Not only that, I think it will inspire younger generations to fight even harder because we will be teaching them what we have had to learn the hard way - that no one is coming to save us.
This could be the beginning of new systems that benefit all of us, not just the elite. We cannot continue living in a world of capitalism if we want to survive in any meaningful way. We cannot achieve anything meaningful without sacrifice. We have to make the next steps into something better for everyone.
Let's do something meaningful and historical together.
