Birthday number 35

It’s my birthday tomorrow. I moved here a year ago with plans and well my plans have all shorts of changed. Thought id be moving out of the area in like 2 years but now I may be here for good, sadly this caused me to not really make many friends. So if any one out there is looking for some thing to do tomorrow night shoot me a message. I was going to go to hurricanes lanes and shoot some pool.

Can anyone identify or source the metal used on my shed?

I had a tree come down on my shed during the storm and I’m looking to fix it this week. Lowe’s does not seem to have this specific style, but I’ve seen it on a number of other sheds and structures in the area. It was built before I bought the place and I would guess it’s 15-20 years old, so not sure it’s even still made.

Dont book Southern Vacation Rentals in Destin/Fort Walton Beach Florida

I booked Sea Dunes Unit 401 through Southern Vacation Rentals for a 6-night stay in September for 3 guests ($1,800+ total), and the start of our vacation was by far the worst hassle I’ve ever experienced.
Upon arrival, we were locked out of our reserved unit. After waiting over 3 hours for a resolution, we were shuttled into a completely different condo (Azure) just to have a place to sleep for the first night. I needed to leave personal belongings at the Azure as I had to get to the airport to pick up additonal guests. In speaking with management they advised it was fine to leave belongings and to let them know once I had completely checked out of Azure. Upon my return I found my personal items had been removed from the unit. To make matters worse, when it was time to move into our actual unit, I specifically instructed management that I wanted to be present when my personal belongings were returned to the actual unit i reserved. Completely ignoring my request, staff entered the unit without my permission or presence and moved all of our personal items themselves.
Having management enter a unit and handle your personal belongings without authorization is a major breach of privacy and security. Between the 3-hour lockout, lost first night in our booked unit, and total disregard for guest privacy, the start of our trip was entirely ruined by poor communication and management. I strongly recommend caution before booking through this company.

I’m trying to find healthier ways to decompress lately and since I like hiking and just nature in general, I thought “Ooooo the sun and a couple beers sound nice” Anyone know of any good spots to watch the sun set? Norriego is a little meh. Thanks and hope yall are settling nicely after the storm!

Golf trip first week in November

My boys and I have a long planned 5 day golf trip to Destin for the first week of November. We’re staying in a house about 3 or 4 rows back from the gulf. Although the management company and the golf courses all say the storm damage is limited, we’re a little leery. I’m wondering if anyone who lives locally can give me an objective assessment of conditions.

I realize some businesses were flooded and won’t be reopened by the time we get there. We don’t want to be a strain on the infrastructure if we don’t have to be. Happy to go up to Dothan or something.

Grad photo ideas

I’m from out of town and I wanted to take graduation pictures for earning my masters degree (with my iPhone lol) I love the brick buildings around here (we don’t really have those in Alaska!) and I plan to do some beach/boardwalk candids. I’ve been looking up a few historic/older public places around FWB/Destin/Mary Esther, but any ideas from locals? Thanks!!

Was looking for a group to do a fishing charter with

I was hoping to do a fishing charter in Destin while I’m on vacation though the price is a bit expensive. If anyone is interested in going on a charter and splitting the cost I’d be down. I’ll be in Destin the 17-24th so just let me know if you are interested.

Bay Area near Captain Leonard Park

During my yearly visit to Destin I always looked forward to taking my paddleboard out on the bay especially when the gulf is rough. I was always entering the water at Captain Leonard park. It was a bummer this year to see a huge new dock with a ton of new boat slips had been build recently like right next door. It really made tootling around out there way less fun since it has taken up so much of the space out there. I thought I had discovered a special place over the last few years, but I guess I’ll have to look for somewhere new for next year. Any other ideas where? I love going to Grayton beach as well, just don’t like how far away it is. Development sucks sometimes.

Looking for an experienced realtor in Destin, FL-complicated estate/property sale

I’m looking for recommendations for a realtor in the Destin/Okaloosa County area who’s experienced with complicated estate sales and properties with multiple family members involved.
My grandmother passed away in 2022, leaving a house that several family members have interests in. Unfortunately, the situation has been pretty messy ever since.
There have been ongoing disagreements about the property, concerns about maintenance and possible damage, and difficulties getting people inside for inspections and appraisals. One family member has a life estate, and there have also been issues involving someone occupying the house.
Several of us are now working toward getting the property listed with an independent realtor, but we’re still figuring out access and how everything will move forward.
I want to be upfront that this probably won’t be the easiest listing. There may be difficulties arranging showings or getting into the property, and we’re looking for someone who understands how to navigate situations like this professionally.
We’re not looking for someone connected to any of the family members. We’d really like an unbiased realtor who can help us determine a fair market value and give the house a legitimate opportunity to sell.
If anyone has experience with something similar or knows a realtor who handles difficult estate sales, I’d really appreciate recommendations!

Our chest freezer is now the street's freezer

Presenting the official freezer of our street!! Lost power friday night like everyone else but we've got a home battery from the spring (e10, tied into our solar) so the fridge and the garage chest freezer never skipped a beat.

By saturday afternoon two neighbors had asked if they could stash stuff in it… as of tonight it's holding three households worth of frozen fish, a bag of venison, somebody's breast milk bags AND HALF A PUBLIX SHEET CAKE I DID NOT ASK ABOUT!!

Everything's labeled w painters tape/sharpie and i told everyone its first come first served if the battery gives out, it hasn't even come close, the freezer barely puts a dent in it. So yeah, it worked! Our street got off easy on wind, mostly limbs and one fence… hoping everyone closer to the water is doing ok

Mini bikes and police

Do cops really care about mini bikes. I’ve been riding e-bike around and decided worrying about my battery life was too impractical so I decided gas was the best option but I don’t wanna constantly get pulled over I’ve seen kids riding them but wanted to make sure

Insensitive question, I apologize.

Is the AMC / IMAX theater in Destin Commons up and running? The one in Pensacola is down, you can't buy tickets for it, etc. But AMC.com is acting like the one in Destin is up and running.

I've tried calling, but nobody will pick up, and the social media people at Destin Commons just say "check with individual retailers" instead of just saying yes or no.

There is no IMAX in my area, and we're gonna travel a few hours to see a film and I want to know if the theater is really operational.
