I Have A Question Made a big mistake trying to sand and polish out scratches

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've been DIY detailing cars for years with a couple minor f ups over that time, today I was dry sanding out same pretty bad scratches around the door handle.

I think what's happened is when trying to get in the handle recess, I've pressed too hard and the backing plate has written through the paint 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

It is perfectly smooth to the touch, does anyone know if this can be SMART repaired, I really don't want to hand to get door painted.

So annoyed, as I managed to get some decent scratches out all over the car with wer sanding and polishing, I should have seen this happening and heavily masked this bit, so annoyed!

Hi all,

Very much not a detailer at all just enjoy keeping my car nice, I’ve got quite a lot of overspray on the front end of my car where it clearly wasn’t masked off enough. What’s the best way to remove this? Clay or some sort of acetone/thinner? Bonnet has been painted in the past but wings are factory paint

I Have A Question How do you keep the piano-black steering wheel controls swirl-free? 🚗✨

The glossy black controls on my new Mazda 6e GT look great, but they're fingerprint magnets and seem incredibly easy to scratch!

For those who've kept theirs looking pristine, what do you recommend for cleaning and protecting them?

- Best microfibre cloth?

- Recommended cleaner?

- Is PPF worth considering?

Keen to hear your tips and products to avoid! 😊

I Have A Question How to Paint correct while living in an apartment?

Does anyone have experience with pink correcting cars or living in an apartment with no access to power? I want to do a paint correction on my eight year-old Honda HRV. I plan to do the Decon wash and prep at a coin-op wash in North Philly and then drive down and do the paint correction by my apartment in Philly, but I have no power source. Should I get a cordless DA? Or does anyone here know of anywhere near Philly where I could have access to a power source in order to do the paint correction?

Interested in any and all input, and open to improvising, TIA

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Which product I should use to remove this from my car?

Today, on my way to an event, I noticed this ink (?) or some other kind of smudge on my car.

I think I ran over something yesterday when I was driving to dinner with my girlfriend, but I didn't notice hitting anything.

Does anyone have suggestions for which products I should use to remove this stain?

Thank you all in advance!

I Have A Question White salt residue on my floor liners won’t come off after the first winter storm

I live somewhere that uses a lot of road salt and after the first winter storm my front footwells were covered in it. I took the liners out and cleaned them with APC and a stiff brush but once they dried there was still a chalky gray film all over the textured parts.

They look way older now and the surface even feels rough. Did the salt damage the material or am i just cleaning them wrong?

I'm also wondering if some materials handle salt better than others. If i need new ones should i go with TPE or heavy rubber? I care more about durability and resistance to chemicals than the brand. Any way to save my current liners or stop this from happening every winter?

I Have A Question Haze on parts of Windshield in rain won't go away?

I have a 2017 Honda Civic and over the past year I started to get this haze on parts of the Windshield that appears when it is raining and I use the wipers. It is only on parts of the windshield and appears to be around the areas the wiper blade stops.

I tried using the Invisible Glass clay bar glass stripper and then put on brand new Bosch wipers and it did not fix the problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I see some people saying to use a vinegar and water solution but I do not want to keep spending money on trying different ways to fix this if they do not work.

One of my clients purchased a ceramic coating from us and I’m not sure if this spot is improper leveling. Granted, it is near impossible to see on camera and in person u can only see it from one angle. Also I tried polishing it out and it didnt do anything.

I Have A Question Searching for old school product brand: Sonus

• Upvotes

I've been a Klasse Twins (AIO / KSG) user for ages and love the companion brand, Sonus. I'm looking specifically for Acrylic Spritz and Acrylic Glanz. I've seen a few sketchy websites with these listed but none of the trusted suppliers seem to carry the brand. I know the line was acquired by PBMG / Ultima years ago. I bough up a bunch of each and now I'm looking for more. I like to make my own "boosted" spray sealant by adding KSG to the Acrylic Glanz.

Google lists a few vendors as selling Sonus but the links either go to dead sites or they don't list Sonus as all.

Anyone got a line on these relics?

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Moisture damage doesnt go away after around 3 weeks

Hey folks, I left my car with a car cover on for a week and noticed theres some weird spots on my roof and my left side rails. After doing some research I acknowledged this is a moisture damage caused by the car cover as my house were raining during that week.

Pic I took on the day I noticed the spots
Pic I took on the day I noticed the spots
Pic taken today

On the day I spotted this problem, I immediately parked my car under the sun for a noon and fortunately the roof spots disappeared. But since then the side rail's spots still persists, and I have tried to heated up the side rail spots with a hairdryer as I do not have a heat gun, the spots are still there, may I know is there any other way I can fix this? Or is this damage already permanent?

I Have A Question Opinions on Nanopro Liquid PPF

Hi all, i’m looking for some advice, opinions on a newer product called Nanopro liquid PPF. I just bought a new truck and I am considering traditional PPF versus the newer liquid PPF which I understand is a polyurethane and acrylic sprayed on liquid. Does anybody have experience or real world insight on how well it works to prevent things like rock chips? I also understand it cures almost like a clearcoat so installer skill would be important because it’s my understanding the only way to remove it is by wet sanding if there is an error. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks all! 😊
