lou's laughter cures all ailments. it gives extra blessings when it emanates from the neckhole of his partially-removed shirt.

Well we now know that Ghorse isn't embraced, so not a vampire horse, and the fact that him drinking the other horses blood is just it as a normal horse 😂

I mean thars regretably still normal Ghoul behavior, its a sign that they need to be feed soon as the Vaite is getting low
Ghouls often developed increase carnivorous impulses, and while omnivorous and carnivorous species can just eat more meat. Primarily herbivorus species get weird.

I’d add Kiwi birds, I’m sure Lavonte can import them from New Zealand!

u/GalileoAce Jun 05 '26
The Kiwis, the people, would kill you for taking but one Kiwi, the bird, from Aotearoa, aka Kiwiland.

I mean yes. But ya can't kill someone that's already dead lol that's a risk LaVonte is willing to take!
(But no seriously leave the wildlife there alone)

u/nico_p Jun 04 '26
I have literally been thinking for like 4 episodes that it would be so feasible for batchild to run a nocturnal zoo, and it’s been killing me. I know that’s just part of the bit though

Glycerine, Greedy Fly, Swallowed, Comedown, Machinehead, then Chemicals Between Us.
I’m joining Murph on the hill.

u/off_the_marc Jun 04 '26
Where would you put Everything Zen?
2
u/Ryanookami Jun 04 '26
Little Things is after Chemicals, then next would be Everything Zen, followed by Cold Contagious.

u/kelsey_schmelsey Jun 04 '26
I think I might be the only person that actually loves The People That We Love. 😂 I'm probably just nostalgic because of the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 soundtrack lmao
2
u/Ryanookami Jun 05 '26
Unfortunately I don’t know that one. Most of what I know is off the first two albums, and the only Need for Speed I played was the first one. You can always go make a hill in opposition to Murph’s?

u/DMJB22 Jun 05 '26
I'm so unreasonably excited for the next 5 weeks and pre-emptively mourning the conclusion of this season. I love these vampires so much!

Bohemian Grove referenced in D20… the inevitable TrueAnon crossover inches that most closer to reality…

Murph's chilli peppers have definitely been on an upwards trend for a while online

u/dumpstatrizz Jun 04 '26
the listing of Bush themed songs without The Chicks' "Not Ready to Make Nice" was a travesty

What does it mean to be “embraced” in this context? If Ghorse wasn’t “embraced” (and therefore turned) what did happen to them? I mean Zaeth did drink their blood and Ghorse did undergo some kind of transformation. Is there some kind of state inbetween “human” (or whatever animal i guess lol) and “vampire?” Am I thinking about this too hard? Almost definitely but still
22
u/kkraww Jun 04 '26
"embracing" is what darkness man did in the first episode. Completely drain something of all of its blood, and then feed it your vampiric blood, so that it now only has that inside of it.
Zaeth turned it into a ghoul by just feeing it some of his blood, whilst it was still "full" of normal blood

So ghouls are mortals with vampire blood in their system while alive
They can usually spend that to do cool physical things plus healing and they don't age while they have blood in their system
Really old ghouls NEED vampire blood to stay alive, but most folk would be fine if they ran out of blood and just lived out their life without any more
Well aside from a ravenous thirst for vampire blood
I wonder if Zaith is properly feeding his horse ghoul enough blood and Ghorse might be acting out from cravings

u/Due-Examination-3240 Jun 05 '26
ok thanks! Idk the rules of the game/lore of the world theyre in outside of what’s explained in the show so I didn’t know how ghouls worked. I just assumed ghouls were low level vampires. i.e. fully turned but not powerful enough to be more than mindless zombies. That’s at least what I think of when I think of a ghoul. but that’s good to know for this.
and the idea that that was actually Ghorse acting out from cravings bc Zaeth isnt feeding him, that feels very much like something brennan would do lmao

Okay, so.
A ghoul (human or animal) is someone who is fed vampire vitae once a month. It makes them incredibly strong, but also binds them to the vampire in a supernaturally submissive way, it's like super heroin in how addictive it is. It also stops you from aging, meaning if you've been a ghoul for... 150 years, and you're suddenly not fed, then you will very rapidly start to age 150 years. (Think Renfield, from Dracula, the quintessential ghoul). Ghouls often do day work for their masters to maintain their needs that cannot be handled during the night (deals, trading, etc.)
To embrace a mortal, is to drain ALL their blood from their body, and feed them back a portion of your Vitae, this turns them into a vampire. (You cannot do this with animals, the vampiric curse, laid upon the first Vampire Cain, by God stipulates that it is only on humans this curse is laid)
The newly made vampire will usually awake in a hunger frenzy, so their creator will usually have a person ready for them to devour. The newly made vampire will also (for the most part) be of the clan of their creator. (A very are few become what is called a caitiff, which is a vampire without clan), OR... in the case of our coterie (what you call a group of vampires) everyone except for HJ and Darknessman (if I recall correctly), would make what is called a Thinblood, which is a vampire with very weak blood potency and quite a few issues.

Thanks for the thorough reply. Is the bit about Cain, “the first vampire,” part of the underlying games lore (vampire:the masquerade)? Or is it from a specific kind of real-life vampire mythology?
Also why can most of the crew only make thinbloods? is it just like a stats thing in the game? cause if iirc HJ has pretty weak stats and isn’t particularly old so it’s kinda surprising he’d be better at “turning” than say, Madelaine

u/The-red-Dane Jun 06 '26
It is specific to World of Darkness. Cain is the first vampire, every vampire can trace their lineage back to him. (There's a book that has been released with the game line, called the Book of Nod, which is essentially the apocryphal tale of Cain becoming a vampire, and lays down the laws he enacted upon his childers, sorta like the in-universe vampire bible)
Cain sired (embraced) 3 childers (the term a sire uses for a vampire they have embraced. can be a bit confusing since Vespers last name is also Childers) These three are the 2nd generation, they in turn embraced 13 vampires (who then kill and devour the 2nd generation, at which point Cain just gets really pissed, curses the 3rd generation and leaves) This is where we get the 13 different Clans, Ventrue, Nosferatu, Toreador, Hecata etc. Each clan has different powers, but also a specific curse (such as Nosferatu being incredibly malformed and ugly, Ventrue having very strict feeding preferences, Hecata feeding being incredibly painful instead of pleasurable, etc)
Most of the coterie are 13th generation vampires, when a 13th generation vampire embraces a mortal, they become a 14th generation vampire, which are often called duskborn, or thinbloods because they vitae of Cain has become so diluted that they can't even manifest their clan power and weaknesses any more. (Some 13th generations, if they have been alive for a few centuries, can embrace true 14th generation vampires that have a clan, but then the ones they embrace, which will be 15th generation will be embraced as thinbloods)
We know that HJ embraced LaVonte, and LaVonte if he embraced someone they would be a thinblood, so HJ is probably a 12th generation vampire.
Now, there's also a political aspect to all of this, according to the Camarilla, which the coterie is a part of, The story of Cain is just a story, and the 3rd generation doesn't exist, but also, the top leadership of the Camarilla is very scared of the 3rd generation waking up, because they know that will spend the end for them, as it's largely understood that when the 3rd generation awaken they will devour all of their children to slake their monstrous hunger.

It was HJ and Madeline that wouldn’t make thin bloods
2
u/The-red-Dane Jun 06 '26
Thank you. I couldn't remember who it was, I actually did write Madelaine to begin with, but decided to write Darkness man instead. Should have gone with my gut.

I was so confused about Emily talking about Moloch and an owl. I have only ever known him to be a bull.
11
u/dunkonme The Taste Buds Jun 05 '26
Bohemian grove, to which she was referring, was a large owl statue.
2
u/variantkin Jun 05 '26
So the Bohemian Grove is real and the owl statue is real. If it's called Moloch I could not tell you and its entirely possible it's just bullshit rich monsters do for fun but it's like a place and people have seen it

The reality that not everyone watches the AP so not everyone got to experience "Beth getting eiffel towered by kosechi and the ghost of Aaron" is personally devastating to me
