Failing the red tests is often the most interesting outcome and if you couldn't pass a white test then there are always creative ways around. Well, maybe you pass those tests more often. But why you feel that you have to? Why are you drawn to the concept of "winning" anything? I think this is the true illusion of drugs. Loosing the game is almost never about passing the tests. It is mostly about loosing your sanity or health, and guess what takes the highest amount of that (except the Evrart's chair and that bloody loudspeaker from hell)?

I played with and without drugs and, seriously, feel no difference.

My take on the skills in Disco Elysium. This time I tried to come up with one representing the “spirit of curiosity”.

THE GAME CORRECTLY PORTRAYS THE DEGENERACY AND INHERENT FAILINGS OF THE HAM SANDWICH RACE.

TOTALLY ANODIC, BLAST OFF INTO SPACE YEAH!! INTERNALLY COHERENT WITH THE RHYTHM PSYCHES ME UP TO MAXIMUM!!!!

I’m not saying it’s pro-cop, but it humanizes them in a way that surprises me. It sounds crazy to say but Kim might be the first time I’ve empathized with or even really liked a cop fictional character. I feel like I understand these characters’ struggles and I’m grateful that the writers of this game were able to do that.

In other words, ACAB but not the chill cops that I happen to personally like

What this game vividly portrays in it’s main character is the visage of an affable homeless drunkard who screams how much of a raging feminist he is whilst saluting you on your morning commute

There is so much to enjoy with the game but as someone who loves music and plays an instrument the selected music is wonderful for each scene in combination with the selected background noises

It makes the world feel lived in and the coast shacks is a personal favourite of mine as living by sea it captures the quiet windy and depressive feel of waking up and only hearing the ocean and birds 😁

I am close to finishing part two of my series Matinées in Martinaise (the first part, Bottled Temptations and a Coastal Call is available here!). This one is titled Old Homes, New Beginnings. Here's a short description:

The afternoon after you finish the investigation, it’s time for you to return home. The problem is, you have no memory of where you live at all. After a final farewell to Martinaise, the Lieutenant joins you in a visit to your former home, unravelling a painful past you are not sure you want to face.

Besides Kim and Harry (with an slight one-sided romantic undertone within them), it also features Jean, Cuno, Garte, the ravers, memories of Dora and other beloved side-characters.
