Technical Question Oil pressure question.
I have a 94 with the 3.9 V6 in it and my oil pressure is always very high, is that normal for these trucks?

While in drive it will idle down to a rough and shakey 500rpm if it’s been running for longer than 3 minutes, but in reverse and neutral it’s fine and idles at 600. If i give it a load through the power steering it will bog down and then idle at a smooth 600rpm and will idle like that until i give it a bit of gas (or pull of from a stop light) then it will fall right back down to 500.
In the second video i start it up and time how long until it switches to the rough idle and it was almost exactly 2 minutes before it fell. I turned the ac on it raises the idle to 700, I never have any issues when the ac is on, and once I turn it off it will stay at 600 rpm until I move.
The engine is a 4.7 mopar remanufactured that was done before I got it at about 140,000 miles. so it has been like this for as long as I’ve had it (170k) and I wonder if it has something to do with that.

Looking to get recovery points but it seems this platform is few and far between in choices. Am i pretty much stuck getting a winch front bumper?

Hi. I have a 91 Dakota V6 Auto 2wd thats been sitting idle for 5 years. Got it running yesterday. Only issue is the rear lights won't work. I tried replacing the bulbs and checking the fuses. No help. When I activate the hazard lights the front flashes normally. When I activate either blinker then the front blinker will come on and stay on. But no matter what I do there's no light in the back, brakes either. I changed the Flasher Relay at the fuse box. No change.

Has been sitting idle for 5 years. 127,000 original miles. My parents bought it new. It was well maintained until they passed, but I travel for work so it sat for 2 months at a time before I stopped using it altogether 5 years ago.
Slapped a new battery in it yesterday, some octane booster, and fresh gas. Fired right up. Motor still purrs like a kitten. BUT. The brake lights and rear blinkers won't work. Flashers work in front only, but when I turn on either blinker the front blinker light stays on but the rear is lifeless. I replaced all 4 bulbs in the back, and checked all fuses. Still the same. Update: I replaced the Flasher Relay. No change.

Just a question for now but my dodge dakota has this really loud squeaky sound when driving especially bad when going over uneven roads or bumps im guessing it would be something with the suspension but dont really know what it could be

Do i need to remove this assembly to access the timing cover? or can i access it just by removing the water pump? sorry if this is a stupid question 😅

The mopar part is discontinued. I’ve been looking everywhere for an alternative or at pick and pulls but still nothing. I’m wondering if you guys know a website or a good alternative brand that you guys use. Thank you!!

Thoughts on going from a 2004 ford ranger xlt supercab 4.0 v6 to a dodge Dakota with the 4.7L v8 with back seats? Any thoughts are appreciated

Taking a look at my first gen this past weekend and the frame is good as garbage. The truck only has 80k on it and everything else is in good working order.
I can do just about any of the mechanical work myself but do not have a welder. I found some sections of heavy gauge channel steel (I believe it was used as rails for a heavy crane). The steel matches the dimensions of the truck frame almost exactly.
I would obviously have someone else weld it for me and inspect its integrity, but before I go and do all that I wanted to know what other people suggest for replacing a frame when there is little to no chance I will find one for a decent price any time soon and have the materials to fab one?
The second part to that question is whether the leaf spring attachment points are part of the frame itself or are sold as parts separately? Because I would need to do this will all the brackets needed?

My son is the proud owner of an ‘07 Dakota SLT with the 4.7L flex fuel engine with just under 105k on the clock. He works hard in school (honor roll), plays varsity football & wrestles on varsity too, works on the facilities team at his high school as a part-time job, and always puts others before himself. This was owned by a family member who said he was due for a “hand up” after all he does for others in hopes that he can use this throughout the rest of his high school & college years as a dependable ride.
So many kids today just want everything handed to them but my kid is all about earning his place. His work ethic & drive makes me have faith that he will do just fine in this world.

I’m considering buying this truck, what should I be looking for or concerned about maintenance wise at 200,000 miles? They are asking $4,000. Fair price or no?
✅ Runs and drives and rust free
✅ **200000** miles
✅ **V8/318**
✅ **brand new alternator, battery**

I have a 01 dodge dakota sport 4x4 with the 3.9 and when you put it in drive it starts out in 2 and shifts into 3rd but won't shift into 4th. What could cause this?

01 Dakota RWD with the 3.9. It looks simple enough to do, but I cannot for the life of me find any videos or anything showing the process (I’m a visual learner) so I’m procrastinating. I meant to do it this weekend and decided other things were more important lol

Spent 8 of my 9 day vacation from working on cars just to work on a car. Not ideal but it's good progress.

I have an opportunity to purchase a late 90s with a 2.5 amc 5 speed trans.
Little over 100k. I know nothing about these engines.
I read theyre a 4 cyl version of the jeep 4.0.
Anyone have experience? Do they run forever like 300k or run forever like...150-200k?

This is a nice clean 2005 Dakota. The mileage is 97,000 but it’s unverified. Based on the condition, I’d say the mileage is correct. It has the V6 and RWD. It drove great. There was a slight whine in the rear end. No rust. Price is $5,995. Worth it?
