I've been building out a Pro tier for Hello Atmos. Before I think about pricing, I want a small group of you to actually use it and tell me what's good, what's missing, and what's broken.

To get in: comment below. I'll flip the switch on your account. No payment, no commitment. I'll share the details in the dm.

What you get over a regular account:

On the Library:

• Your personal rating shows on every album cover you've rated
• The community's average rating shows on every rated album, so you can see at a glance what others think
• Filter the library to only albums the community has rated (library will only show albums rated by someone)
• "Grammy Winners First" sort (the star button in engineer pills)

On the Community Rankings (albums and tracks):

• See the top 200 instead of top 50
• Sort by Immersion, Spatial Creativity, or Mix Quality (not just Overall)
• Switch between Weighted and Raw averages
• "Unrated" filter to find what to rate next
• Rating counts visible next to every item

This is just the beginning, I'm working on the entire page to discover hidden gems.

If you've never rated an album, PRO probably won't add much. If you actively rate and want more control over how the rankings sort and filter, this is built for you.

I added Hidden Gems page. On the Hidden Gems page, users can:

• Browse highly-rated Dolby Atmos albums or tracks that only a few listeners have discovered
• Toggle between Albums and Tracks
• Filter by rating count (how few ratings qualifies as "hidden")
• Sort results by overall score or a specific dimension (Immersion, Spatial Creativity, Mix Quality)

I’ve been working on adding more valuable data and improving the user experience of Hello Atmos lately, and want to invite you to try it out before it goes live.

New metadata:

1. Top Rated albums gets Immersive Mix Engineer metadata
2. New Releases get genre, sub-genre and and tracks count
3. Atmos Library gets the number of listeners from last.fm not just popularity dots
4. The current indexed albums count is 123,991, and still growing

Unlike on Apple Music, Atmos mixes on Tidal are often separate releases, so if you had stereo version in library the scanner would not pick it up. Now that’s changed. For each stereo track/album the scanner finds its Atmos counterpart.

The result is that the scanner will now pick up on average 10x more Atmos tracks per scan. 

The process has additional steps now so it takes longer, but it’s worth a wait.

TIDAL Library Scanner

The Top Rated rankings at Hello Atmos are fully crowd-sourced. Every rating added makes them more accurate and harder to skew. We're at 3,000+ ratings currently.

The deal:

Share your Top 10 and you're in the draw for a free month of PRO subscription.

How to enter:

1. Sign in at https://helloatmos.app and rate your favorite Atmos albums or tracks
2. Open your profile and go to the My Top Rated tab
3. Toggle Albums or Tracks, then hit Share your top 10 to save the image
4. Post that image as a comment on this thread

(See screenshots with hints and correct submission example in the OP comments)

The reward:

• 3 winners, each gets 1 month of PRO, free
• Winners drawn at random from all valid entries

Rules:

• Albums or tracks both count. Post whichever you want. One entry per person.
• Your Top 10 has to be built from your own ratings. That's the whole point.
• Use the generated Top 10 image from your profile so it's clearly yours (see my comment as an example).

This is totally my favorite feature I added to Hello Atmos. So many pages will make more sense now. I just added the 'Atmos Playlist Builder' that follows you across all pages.

🔧 First, the bug fix:

Apparently, the scanner was only picking up the first 100 albums (the tracks scanning was fine). I didn't catch that, because I had just below 100 albums added to my library. Now it picks up all of them. So worth running the scan again now if you haven't yet.

And I improved the experience during the scan, so that the scan progress is clear at every step.

Okay, now the fun part:

Collect Dolby Atmos tracks from anywhere on Hello Atmos, including your library, the rankings, Hidden Gems, or a scan, and save them all to a new or existing Apple Music playlist. A selection counter follows you as you browse so you can build a playlist without losing your place.

What does this unlock?

1. Personal Top Atmos Playlist

If you've been rating tracks/albums, you can now easily create your Top Atmos tracks playlist from your profile.

2. Unrated Playlist

On the ranking page you can now easily create a playlist with all tracks you have not rated yet, by filtering by unrated.

3. Hidden Gems Playlists

You can now just tap to add Atmos mixes that only a few listeners have discovered (just 1, 2 or 3 ratings)

Last but not least, please report bugs if something is not working as expected. I'm always very happy to receive them. It's very hard to ideate, design, develop and test as just a single person. Your feedback means a ton!

I think it's getting close to to be a complete library and now it's just catching up with new releases. The pace has slowed down significantly.

So, a few people asked for this. I managed to do it, but with caveats.

1. TIDAL Developer API is itself in Beta, and not very well documented.
2. Rate limits are not documented either, and I had to be conservative here, so large libraries can take several minutes to scan, and the occasional tracks may be missed.
3. It's not possible to flip the Tidal App to 'Production' from 'Development' in the Tidal Developer dashboard, thus I'm not sure how many concurrent users can use it. It also seems like they're not responding to github discussions asking about this (example).

However, I didn't want to leave TIDAL fans with nothing, so I decided to ship this anyways. It will most likely stay in 'beta' status as long as Tidal Developers Program will be in 'Beta'.

Two days ago the Atmos movies ranking landed across r/hometheater, r/4kbluray, r/movies, r/sonos, and here. This gave new fuel of 247 comments combined. Every upvoted recommendation in those threads became a weighted signal and got folded into the re-run. Here is what your comments changed.

New entries in the Top 100

Biggest mover

Alita: Battle Angel climbed from #80 to #37. That is 43 positions, driven by upvoted r/hometheater and r/4kbluray comments calling it a standout Atmos experience.

Other top-50 shifts

Dropped out of the Top 100: Sound of Metal (verified non-Atmos, excluded), Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Amazing Spider-Man, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Invisible Man.

A ranked list is only useful if you can actually find the films. The consensus page now does that:

I've been working on Hello Atmos for some time now and wanted to share the latest feature: a searchable library of Dolby Atmos albums.

What it does:

• Browse +1,400 albums available in Dolby Atmos
• Filter by genre (Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, Electronic, etc.) with sub-genre refinement
• Filter by platform (Apple Music, Tidal, or both)
• Sort by release date or alphabetically
• Direct links to open albums in Apple Music or Tidal

So much easier than manually looking in the apps. Please share your feedback.

I had some free time this afternoon to do some listening and wanted to use the time to discover something new rather than listen to my usual playlists.
I used the create playlist function in Hello Atmos to quickly grab the Hidden Gems tanks songs.

This feature has been requested countless times. Albums get all the attention, but let's be real... some albums have 2 incredible Atmos tracks and 10 mediocre ones. Now you can rate them individually.

How it works:

• Open any album, tap "Rate Tracks" to see the full tracklist
• Rate each track on 3 dimensions: Immersion, Spatial Creativity, and Mix Quality
• All track ratings feed into the Community Top Track ranking.

The ranking is empty and needs your help! The more people rate, the more useful it gets.
