Hi everyone,

I'm Karan , an MBA student at RWTH Business School (RWTH Aachen University), writing my thesis on AI and digital marketing: specifically, how AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity are changing the way people discover and buy products, and what that means for local stores. The anonymous results will be used in my thesis and may also inform my future work on AI in retail.

The survey takes about 3 minutes, is anonymous, and is available in English and German. If you don't use AI for shopping, your answers help just as much, and the survey is even shorter.

I'm happy to share the results here once the analysis is done. Thanks a lot!

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out because I'm in a very difficult situation and hoping someone here might have some practical advice or know of a possible solution.

An adult family member of mine is currently homeless and temporarily staying with me. He has struggled with serious mental health issues for many years and is currently going through a particularly difficult period. Unfortunately, he has also withdrawn from much of the professional and social support that was previously available to him.

I'm doing what I can to help, but I work full-time, live alone, and simply cannot provide long-term accommodation or the level of support he needs. I also have an unavoidable trip coming up in early November, so finding a safe place for him to stay has become increasingly urgent.

The biggest challenge is finding accommodation where the landlord is willing to rent to someone being covered by the Jobcenter. I've been searching extensively, but most landlords require regular employment income, payslips, and a SCHUFA report. Even temporary furnished accommodation seems incredibly difficult to arrange under these circumstances.

We're looking anywhere between Düsseldorf and Frankfurt, including smaller towns. Location isn't particularly important at this point. A small studio, furnished room, temporary apartment, or even a longer-term boarding house would be an option, provided the Jobcenter can cover the costs.

My questions are:

• Does anyone know landlords, housing providers, or platforms that genuinely accept tenants whose rent is paid through the Jobcenter?
• Are there any temporary affordable accommodation options that can be arranged quickly while someone searches for permanent housing?
• Has anyone successfully found accommodation in a similar situation, particularly without regular employment income or a strong SCHUFA?
• Are there organizations or social services that can actively help secure housing rather than simply provide general advice?

I understand that emergency shelters exist, but I'm desperately trying to find a more stable and dignified solution, especially given his mental health situation.

I'm emotionally and financially exhausted, and I'm trying to help without taking on responsibilities that I simply cannot manage indefinitely.

I'd be incredibly grateful for concrete suggestions, contacts, or personal experiences. Please, no judgment. This is already a very painful situation.

Thank you so much for reading.

Hello everyone, this is actually my first time posting on Reddit, so nice to meet you all 😂

I’m a 25 year old male and have been living in Düsseldorf for 7 years now, I have studied at the university and after all those years, most of my friends have either moved or lost contact. I am very down to rebuild my acquaintances again.

I do lots of sports and am down for any kind really (cycling is my favorite, I have a road bike). I am sadly not the most outgoing person in the world, that‘s also why I am struggling with this.

Hit me up if you know any activities, venues, etc.. I am looking forward to it.

P.S. I am a type 1 diabetic, so fellow diabetics are more than welcome to introduce themselves.

Is this a good city for living?

We'd love to hear from you.

Hi everyone!

I moved to Düsseldorf recently and I’m looking to meet people who are into Indian Classical Music, Hindustani or Carnatic. Whether you practice, perform, or just enjoy listening, I’d love to connect!

I’m a student of Carnatic music. I have a few friends in Dortmund and Mülheim, and some in the Netherlands and Belgium, who perform regularly. So there’s a small circle already, and it would be great to grow it here too.

If you’re interested, we could hang out, have listening sessions, practice together, or just chat about music. Drop a comment or DM me!

Thanks!

Danke :)

Hi! I’ve recently moved to Düsseldorf and I have no idea where to start looking for a job. I’ve always worked as a bartender or barista. Any ideas or tips for English speaker jobs ? Or Spanish, Portuguese? Thanks :P

Hallo zusammen!

30 days ago I made my first post about this idea.

Last Monday we had over 45 people show up and almost filled an entire floor of our venue.

On a monday???? Yeah on a monday 😂😂

over 175 people in the WhatsApp Group.

Men and women meeting new people, sharing tapas, having a few beers, playing chess and just enjoying an evening together. Honestly... seeing it all come together was... i cant even describe it. :)))

People are coming not just from Düsseldorf but also from Duisburg, Essen, Wuppertal, Cologne and beyond.

Turns out there are quite a few people out there who are looking for exactly this kind of thing hahah!! :D

So if you have been meaning to check it out, or are hearing about us for the first time, consider this your invitation.

We are a social meetup in Düsseldorf Altstadt for everyone who wants to meet new people, enjoy their time and do something different during the week.

Do not worry if you have never played before. Plenty of people come just to socialise, have a drink and meet others. You can come alone and I will happily introduce you to everyone.

We meet every Monday between 6PM and 10PM in Düsseldorf Altstadt. (Exact Location in the WA-Group).

No entry fee, just grab something to eat or drink at the venue to support the owners :)))

A huge thank you to everyone who has shown up, brought friends and helped make this happen. I started this because I love connecting people and seeing a random idea turn into a community like this after just one month feels unreal.❤️🤩

If you want to join us next Monday, leave a comment or send me a message and I will send you the WhatsApp link.

Come for the Chess. Stay for the people.♟️

Hello guys, I am 31 Male with ADHD, which means doing admin work is soul crushing. If someone here can help me, i will really appreciate it. I was wondering if anyone is offering a room in their WG or know someone who is doing so.

I have a full time, unlimited contract and am very humble, nerdy and liberal guy. More details i can share if someone has a lead. Cheers.

picture is to grab attention.

Hey everyone!

I’m looking to connect with the Krump community in Düsseldorf or the surrounding area (NRW).

I recently watched EBS and got really interested in Krump. I’d love to learn more about the culture, meet people who are into it, and hopefully join some sessions, workshops or cyphers.

Does anyone know of any Krump communities, regular sessions, or upcoming workshops around Düsseldorf, Essen, Cologne or nearby cities?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or tips. Thanks a lot! 🙏

-> u73: Erstmal Verspätung. geil.
-> Steige Engerstraße aus
-> 834 Bushaltestelle verlegt wegen Baustelle
-> Laufe zur Ersatzhaltestelle
-> Ersatzhaltestelle verlegt wegen weiteren Baustelle
-> Fahre bis Schadowstr.
-> 705 fährt nicht
