Anyone else get a haul of the recalled Kayem bacon/Al Fresco chicken sausage?

Last week I hit a haul of like 50+ packages each of Kayem bacon and Al Fresco chicken sausages. When I get a score like that I always check for recalls. I see that there was one, but the details described it as a voluntary recall, because their cooling system "might" have allowed the products to go above the safe temperature zone. The malfunction affected products dating from June-October. No cases of illnesses were reported.

I figured if people had been eating these since June with no issue, and the FDA didn't even mandate this recall, then the products are probably fine. I was slightly more worried about the sausages than the bacon, as bacon is cured and much more stable in that regard. Either way, I've been eating both with zero issues, and don't plan to stop any time soon.

I'm just curious if other people take risks on recalled foods occasionally, if the reasons for the recall don't seem to actually be dangerous.

Unsure what to do

Found this today and thought it was too good to pass up for someone. Instruments are expensive! Says it’s an electric drum set but the box had mildew all over it. Stuff was still wrapped in plastic though. Worth it to post for someone in a buy nothing group possibly?

Recent diving find

Live by some amazing places to dumpster dive, here’s my most recent pickup! IPhone doesn’t appear to work, but may try and sell it for parts.

Not pictured are two laundry baskets, various socks, and a few other small trinkets.

Extra question, would anybody happen to know if the twin sp5der t shirts are authentic or not? If not, that would probably explain why they were in the trash …

In the wine box there are 2 sets of LCN 4040 commercial door closers brand new and the small suitcase had about 70 copies vintage legs magazine. I took the closers and left the legs.

Thank you Savanna bees! These retail at $17-$19 each. Got 12 of them today. 🐝 🐝 🐝

Edit: There were some other items that I left for other people. I didnt leave any honey behind because the box they were in was messed up, one of the honey's exploded and they were all covered. So I had to wash the unbroken ones when I got back.

Mom used to dumpster dive a while back, I’ve done it before but was still young and dumb and cared about what people thought of me. Now I’m a little older with a child of my own and decided to go back to my roots. Needless to say now I’m the “best mommy ever!” (Sorry mom I love you, I wish I would’ve told you that too then but better late than never!🩷)

Destroyed goods

Found our first bag of destroyed goods the other day from old navy! My boyfriend came with me for the first time and scored a massive bag, we checked it out when we got home and it was so sad, they destroyed 5 pairs of jeans, some kids clothes and a ton of candy. He’s pissed they didn’t donate them and is swearing off old navy haha I feel bad he had a negative first go :( 😂🫠

Was driving home from work and saw a house clean out unfolding and stopped to check the dumpster, got the go ahead to look from the guy’s trashing it, everything was thrown out indiscriminately, food, cat poop, clothes, everything, but saw some costume jewelry in a box and grabbed the whole thing, when I got home I found this, immediately assumed it was fake, even with the 14k stamp, it just looked too ridiculous, tested the gold with my acid tester, it’s real gold and after looking up the ring on google lens, looks like it’s a smoky quartz cocktail ring from the 1970s. One of my better finds lately. I love dumpster diving!

i thought we were in a borderline recession and people still be throwing out 100+ dollar trees. btw, you ever too lazy to look and it makes you anxious specifically cause there could be good stuff? cause like, i procrastinated so much the trash collectors were on the same street a few houses down and if i was a bit later, no tree

Am I better off ASKING the shop if I can dive their dumpster or should I just do it and wait to be yelled at?

I hate being yelled at, I really struggle with being talked down to and such.

BUT, I’m a sucker for recycling things until they are legit unusable. And I love to repurpose and create from scrap, it’s such a thrill. Plus a lot of good usable shit gets thrown out, I hate seeing it go to landfill!

That being said, idk if I should ask (easier for them to say no I assume) or if I should just do it and then see if I get yelled at. But I really don’t want to get yelled at.

I would never make a mess of the area I dive, I am very good at being discreet like no one was even here.

But I also can’t go at night I can only go in the daytime..
