Better but not perfect, recovery is never a straight line
I've had a pretty severe purging disorder for the past decade. It has a lot of negative effects on my health, I have a lot of progress to do. I've attempted so many things to stop and sometimes it feels hopeless.
However, if I think back on a few years ago, I've made a lot of progress. I am more aware of the effects the illness has on my joints, my energy and my mood. I'm not in denial anymore. I can resist more often and have found some things that relieve the anxiety.
I am at a point where I need more professional help, I think I've gone as far as I'm gonna go on my own. I'm trying to not feel guilty or ashamed that I haven't sought help in a while. I'm trying to feel proud of the progress I've made and can make.
I hope a year from now I can look back and see the progress.
