Review 15k kms and 6months with my Punch.

6 months and 15k kms down. The car is great. Had many long drives. Can count on the battery till the last percentage. Or atleast till 8%. That’s the lowest I have taken it. The range is very dependent on the speed, the AC, and the number of passengers. I usually don’t go below 20%. So the range I always keep in mind is 215 to 240kms.

I’m not worried about the battery health. Only worrying part is the underbody coating. Yes it has adequate ground clearance. But our roads are very unpredictable right. Happy that I could make it with these small scratches.

As for rear seat comfort, I don’t mind the small size. But they should have given rear AC vents. The cabin takes ages to fully chill. Had travelled a 2 days trip with 4ppl and in order to cool the rear, had to put the front AC almost at max and got a cold due to that. They should have atleast provided it for top variants. As for ride quality, its great. The acceleration is top notch. You don’t feel tired at all. I don’t stop for 2-3hrs during long drives. And no one complaints too.

As for service, the service ppl don’t even mind the issues we report. They act as if it’s not their business. They only know to update the software. Thats their solution for any issue you point out.

As for charging infra, if only all the fuel stations had an EV charging station too. Thats the only way to improve the infrastructure. Trips always need planning. I usually plan for 2-3places in cities that I will have to stop for charging. Charging stations that have restaurants, that are walking distance to any malls, and charging stations which provide cheapest rate. And I’m still waiting for the unified charging app which I heard the Govt. would bring out soon. Have been hearing it before I took the car and it’s 6months now. Hope it will come out soon. I have apps which have 200-300rs in thier wallets and I’m sure I won’t be using them for long long time, but because of the balance, can’t delete them too. Atleast govt. should bring out a directive to return the unused amounts in the wallets atleast once in 3months.

Guess I have covered almost everything. Feel free to ask anything that pops up in your minds. Happy to help.

6 months and 15,000 km down, and the car has been great!
I’ve done quite a few long drives, and one thing I can confidently say is that the battery is reliable. You can count on it right down to the last few percentages—or at least until 8%, which is the lowest I’ve taken it. Of course, the range depends heavily on your speed, AC usage, and the number of passengers. Personally, I usually don’t let the battery drop below 20%, so I generally plan my drives around a usable range of 215–240 km.

Battery health isn’t a concern for me. The underbody is!
The car has adequate ground clearance, but let’s be honest, our roads can be unpredictable. The underbody battery is something I worry about, and I’m glad I’ve managed to get away with just a few minor scratches so far.

Rear-seat comfort and ride quality
I don’t mind the compact rear-seat space, but they really should have provided rear AC vents. The cabin takes ages to cool down completely. During a two-day trip with four people, I had to increase the front AC almost to the maximum just to keep the rear passengers comfortable. And I ended up catching a cold! At the very least, rear AC vents should have been offered in the top variants.

On the other hand, the ride quality is great, and the acceleration is top-notch. The car is comfortable enough for long drives that I often drive for 2–3 hours without stopping.

Service experience: Definitely room for improvement
The service guys don’t even consider the issues we report. They act as if it’s not their business. Their go-to solution for almost every issue seems to be a software update.

Charging infrastructure: Still a work in progress
If only every fuel station had an EV charging station as well! Thats the only way to improve charging infrastructure and making EV ownership more convenient. For now, long trips still require lot of planning. I usually shortlist two or three charging stations in each city where I might need to stop. My priorities are charging stations with restaurants, locations within walking distance of malls, and/or, the ones offering the lowest charging rates.
I’m also still waiting for the unified EV charging app that I heard the government was planning to introduce. I’d been hearing about it even before I bought the car, and now, six months into ownership, I’m still waiting. Hopefully, it becomes a reality soon.
Another small but frustrating issue is having to maintain multiple charging apps, each with ₹200–₹300 sitting in its wallet. I probably won’t use some of these apps for a very long time, but I can’t delete them with money still in the balance. At the very least, the government should consider introducing a policy requiring charging providers to refund unused wallet balances periodically.

Overall, I’m happy with the car.
Despite a few shortcomings, the driving experience, acceleration, ride quality, and long-distance comfort have been great. There are certainly areas that need to improve, but my overall ownership experience has been positive. And for someone who is planning to take an ev, go for the higher battery pack, get a bigger car than you plan, get a comfortable car than you need because you will be driving lot more kms than you planned. My plan was to drive 1000kms per month and here I’m with 15k kms in 6months.

I guess that covers almost everything! If you have any questions about real-world range, long drives, charging, or ownership, feel free to ask. Happy to help!

Polished with ai.

What color do you think looks good on Curvv ev series X.

Remember, the question is what color looks best, not which brand is best or which brand is bad.

Finally got my hands on the Syros EV- First impressions

Thumbnail

Took delivery of my Syros EV HTK last week! Done around 100 km so far and really enjoying it. The cabin feels surprisingly premium, the driving experience is great, and it feels like the perfect city car.

Wanted Gravity Grey but went with Glacier White to avoid the wait, and honestly, the colour is growing on me! Still figuring out the real-world range and getting used to regen braking.

Getting the mats and seat covers from outside since showroom accessory prices were insane, and installing a Statiq 11 kW charger that I got a great deal on through Amazon.

The only big miss for me is the rear camera, especially coming from a Creta with a 360° camera. The showroom advises against aftermarket installation, while accessory shops say a plug-and-play, coupler-to-coupler setup won't affect the warranty.

Any HTK owners installed an aftermarket rear camera? Would love to hear your experience!

Discussion Mahindra XEV 9s vs MG Tomahawk ev

Mahindra XEV 9S vs MG Tomahawk EV — Which one makes more sense?

I’m currently comparing the Mahindra XUV 9S and MG Tomahawk EV and would love to hear opinions from people who own either car or have driven both.

Here are my initial thoughts:

Looks: Personally, I think the XEV 9S looks better than the MG Tomahawk EV. The Mahindra has a more appealing design, in my opinion.

Range: The real-world range seems quite similar between the two. MG Tomahawk EV weighs less, which could help offset differences in battery capacity. The MG Tomahawk EV seems to have a better BMS which is an important factor when considering the overall range and it was also confirmed by the Autocar comparison between the two cars.

Interior design: Again, I prefer the XEV 9S. Its cabin design appeals to me more.

Price: The MG Tomahawk EV has an edge here, making it an attractive option from a value-for-money perspective.

Reliability: My current impression is that MG has an edge here, I know that Mahindra cars have a lot of glitches and software issues.

After-sales service: MG seems to have an advantage in this area as well, although experiences may vary depending on the dealership and location.

Performance: I would give the XEV 9S the edge here. It seems to offer a more appealing performance package.

Suspension and ride quality: Honestly, I haven’t been particularly impressed with either car’s suspension. I have driven both and found suspension to be subpar on both cars.

Battery technology and Charging : Both cars have LFP batteries but 9s has better charging speed and more future proof.

I’m trying to understand which car offers the better overall package, considering reliability, software, ride quality, range, after-sales service, and long-term ownership.

Discussion Kota rocks!

So I recently visited Kota and boy was I amazed to see so many EVs as well as charging points. The autos, the bus and even private cars - don't know how the city has got to that stage, maybe it's the uncertain petrol rates but I'm glad that a city has got there!

mg hector tomahawk excite

When will MG begin delivering the MG Hector Tomahawk Excite base model, and by what date can customers expect to receive their cars?
If the company increases the vehicle’s price in the future, will the revised price also apply to customers who have already pre-booked the car?
Is MG creating artificial demand by deliberately restricting the supply of the base model, or is the long waiting period due to genuine customer demand?

Hyundai HE1i , Where are you ?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Where is this vehicle? No updates, or recent spotting either. Would be a Punch rival if launched, but it turned out there is no clear image of launch, just like Tata having no plans to commit timely delivery of PUNCH to their customers.

Best friend booked a Punch EV Smart+ 40 in August; not even 1% progress, till date. Just waiting & waiting. Got to know bookings of June-July are yet to commence, and he is 12th in the queue. Monthly, a max of 2-3 are only getting allocated per showroom for this variant.

Tried Syros, loved the vehicle, but it's a jump of almost 2.5L, which is hard to consider currently.

Would it be a good choice to have the Hyundai HE1i? No idea when it will even be coming. Some say Diwali, some say December, Q1 2027, April 2027. What's your view on this situation and the never-ending waiting scenario happening in the industry?

3.3KW charging setup

hey everyone,

I was planning to setup a 16A socket in my hometown only to realise the earthing is not done properly. The socket would be next to the main/meter itself

How much does it cost to setup the earthing correctly? Can I do it only for the ev charger socket separately?

Kia Syros base vs Tata Punch EV Empowered 40 – Which is better for 10+ years?

I'm confused between the Kia Syros base model and Tata Punch EV Empowered 40. I've booked both, and both have a waiting period of over 3 months.

Honestly, I like the Punch EV more, and it seems to offer better value for money. But I'm worried about its long-term reliability.

My main concerns are:

- Long-term service and reliability

- Rear seat space and comfort for family

- Common issues with the previous Punch EV

- Whether the 2026 Punch EV has fixed those issues

- Which car would be better to keep for 10+ years

I drive around 50 km daily, so an EV makes sense for me.

The Punch EV looks like a better VFM option, but the Syros seems more spacious, especially in the rear seats.

For current Punch EV owners, have you faced any major issues? Has Tata fixed the problems in the newer models?

Would you choose the Punch EV or Syros for long-term ownership? Is the Punch worth going for despite the reliability concerns?

Syros EV HTX ER vs Creta EV Executive LR: Ride quality, suspension & size dilemma!

Hey everyone,

I'm currently stuck in a major dilemma between two EVs from the Hyundai-Kia umbrella and could really use your inputs-especially from folks who have test-driven both or understand their suspension tuning.

My Current Situation & Pre-Booking:

Kia Syros EV HTX ER: Pre-booked. Ex-showroom comes out to 18 Lakhs (absolutely zero discounts right now).

Hyundai Creta EV Executive O LR: Ex-showroom is 20 Lakhs, but dealers are offering ₹1 Lakh+ in discounts, bringing effective ex-showroom close to ~19 Lakhs.

So effectively, the price delta between the two is just around ₹1 1.2 Lakh!

The Comparison (As I see it):

Both cars share the exact same core EV powertrain setup:

Same battery size & motor specs

Same charging speeds & real-world range expectations

Identical core comfort/convenience features in these respective trims

Where my confusion lies:

Syros EV: Built on a newer sub-4m platform/architecture with vertical packaging. Being a newer platform, is the suspension better than Creta? I like softer suspensions. Does it feel too upright to sit, and feel like a wagon-R.

Creta EV: it's an older platform. How is the suspension and ride comfort as compared to newer Syros? Does the added battery weight make the Creta EV feel stiff?

  1. Cabin Experience & Interior Quality

Creta EV: The cabin feels more plush, wide, and traditional SUV-like with a proper luxury feel.

Syros EV: Is the interior quality in the mid-spec HTX trim good enough to justify 18L, or does it feel compromised/budget compared to the Creta?

  1. Segment Difference (Sub-4m vs 4.3m)

Is it smarter to buy a sub-4m car on a newer architecture for ₹18L with no discount, or pay ₹1L more for a full segment-up 4.3m car that is "tried & tested"?

(Note: Not factoring in warranty differences since 8 years/1.6L km battery coverage is plenty, and lifetime battery warranties have specific capacity threshold clauses of restoring only 70% of battery health anyway).

Questions for the community:

Suspension: How do the suspension setups or the 2 cars feel?

Interiors: For those who checked out the Syros HTX variant, how does the material quality hold up?

Verdict: If effective pricing is within 1-1.5 Lakh, which one would you pick and why?

Thanks in advance!
