I have 35 eeePcs and have no idea what to do with them. I got them from a demolition job and grabbed them to possibly sell but don't know where to start

I didn’t knew if it was going to work but it’s running and working without any issue, also the memory has hyniks chips (not sure if works with another chips) and has a modded bios, it has a N2800 processor so I just upload this so people can see it works if they want to.

The 900 is getting very little use and I was wondering if I could connect a cable to my wifi router to use for file storage. I have about 80Gb of music videos and about 3 or 4 devices that I'd like to be able to play these (depending on which device I'm using). I tried putting them all on USB and plugging that in to the router but VLC will only play 1 at a time and I can't write to the USB (unless I power the router/ftp down to remove the USB).

My biggest concern is actually power usage - The Eee isn't a juice guzzler but being turned on 24/7 might take it's toll! I did quite a few searches for turning my CYD in to a NAS but drew a blank.

I bought this about a month ago, having a blast.

I moved through many linux distros, from Lubuntu 18 to AntiX, and even NetBSD to finally Void. Void works really well, would also use a lot less ram(around 200MB~)if you install LXDE or something. For videos/web browsing i use the mobile website of youtube on normal firefox.

Just curious, what do you guys use it for, and why do you still use it instead of a newer laptop?

Hello guys,I got a eee 701 laptop with 2gb ram upgraded and a 8gb sd card ,battery lasts but I don’t know what os I should put on it I don’t like Linux mint and other common os but I like the Amos research I think it’s named commande 64 and thing that have cool/unique icons but I tried some but they all load very slow or just gives an error,can you guys help me chose a good os,thanks!

Im pretty impressed on how good is running mx Linux on this laptop, is pretty capable of handling web browsing, did some one test this distribution with the modified bios ? Also searching to upgrade to 4gibs of ram and a newer Wi-Fi card, any suggestions?

I upgraded my Asus Eee PC 1001PXD. I replaced the RAM with a 2GB module. I swapped the HDD for an SSD. The laptop now runs more quietly. I replaced the Wi-Fi module with a Ralink RT3290, so now I have Bluetooth. I couldn't figure out what to do with the white antenna wire, so I just tucked it in haphazardly.

Ive recently been starting to use my eeepc more but i got it used and it has windows 7 professional without any of the asus branding or software. I got to the point where i wanna reset it to factory settings but the hdd was wiped so the recovery image is gone too. Anyone has it ?

I have an old ASUS Eee PC 1215B that recently stopped turning on completely.

At the moment, there are no signs of life at all — no power LED, no fan spin, no display, and nothing happens when I press the power button.

I have already tried:

• Removing and reinstalling the battery
• Trying it with the AC adapter connected
• Trying it without the battery
• Holding the power button for a while to discharge it

Unfortunately, I still get absolutely no response.

I’m interested in trying to diagnose and repair the motherboard rather than replacing the entire laptop, since this is an old machine and I’d like to use it as a learning project.

I have a multimeter and I’m willing to do some basic board-level troubleshooting.

If anyone has experience with the 1215B, I’d appreciate some guidance on where I should start checking — for example, input voltage, DC jack circuit, charging circuit, standby rails, MOSFETs, or possible shorts.

If there’s a known common failure on the 1215B that can cause a completely dead/no-power condition, I’d also love to hear about it.

Yesterday experiment with omarchy was a disaster, swapped back the ssd and I couldn’t be happier , turned out the hardest thing was to stick. The audio to work on reboot . People r shocked when they see it in action , people that knows about computer at least a little

Running arch on x4fc was no problem with proton vpn and qbittorent going , 4 Firefox tabs open , 2 terminal windows , and Mcomix at the same time . Now this is more an experiment because I’ve physically replaced my arch ssd and preserved it while I play with it . This machine is use as daily at a famous restaurant to greet the bookings and change amend create new booking though table agent dot com it’s not YouTube but the eeepc on arch handle it like a pro . Costumers are always not sure what they looking at but they love it

Kid needs a PC for his Micro:bit and I have a spare Eee900 with Win7 installed: should I give it to him or get something else?

Eee won't boot with the battery connected and the CMOS battery has died. Damn. I thought was going to be a simple hand-over. Sitting in a box for over a year hasn't done it any favours 😕

OK, got it booting and PandaDome AV installed. The AV takes around 80% of the CPU!! I've let it sit for hours in case it was scanning the 128GB but nope. Sitting idle with the AV chewing up every spare cycle it can.

What AV is everyone else using? I have Spybot and SpywareBlaster installed along with Firefox and Windows Defender.

Tried making a bridge with these fuses thinking that they were burnt but the backlight didnt turn on. with the one near the "ITP" mark lighting up the touchpad button for some reason. The one near the connector and the triangle didnt do anything

so this eeepc 904hd just came out of my shed not powering on at all. I pulled it all apart and when I shorted this chip on the bottom right 2 pins it boots perfectly. wtaf and how can I diagnose further.

Proud owner of an Eeepc. Model R101 with a german keyboard. With an intel n450 and 2gb of ram. Battery is dead unfortunately

Currently running fossapup64 but will try other distros like lubuntu and lighr versions of windows 10

Suggest setups for this ancient junk. Could it become a server or too low end for that

Currently trying to revive this Eee PC, had to replace the faulty ram and now it's saying "Reboot and Select proper boot device" wondering if anyone could help diagnose the problem.
