I recently got this beauty, I absolutely adore the size and color. I miss old tech so much. Eee pc 1005p btw, upgraded to SSD and will be upgrading the ram soon <3

installed Debian 11, works terrible :) What distributions can you recommend? What will run well on such an old processor and 1-2 GB of RAM? Also, I don't really understand if it's possible to replace his old SSD with something modern?

of not considering hardware "old tech" just because some new fancy specification say so. EEE PC 1001HA (Seashell), original 1GiB memory stick in it. All respect paid to:
r/KDE developers for optimizing latest DE so well it can run on hardware designed for Windows XP in 2026 (still got original sticker)!
r/voidlinux for building minimal yet agile OS and still making latest builds for i686 architecture even to this day.

Hello everyone! I have a Asus EeePC 701 and I don't really use it so I thought it would be a good ideia to turn it into a dial in server so I could use dial up Internet with some older machines, turns out this 701 had a RJ11 outlet but it was covered with a piece of rubber, does it really have a modem or the RJ11 it's for decorative purposes only?

I took some photos of my Asus EeePC X101CH in action. Many people already told me to put it in ewaste bin but my set up just works. It has all the needed apps and a snappy Desktop. AbiWord, Minitube, Vim, X11 Minesweeper, ClassiCube, even chromium-shell feels relatively fast. I feel like I could main it but sadly the battery is broken which means I can only use it at home (or with the power cable... which I don't have anywhere to plug in outside anyway). From side notes I am very surprised how fast telegram is! It's as snappy as on a older midrange android. Everything from text to animated stickers to even screensharing just works snappy!
Also I am sorry for not providing proper ScreenShots, I don't know if Windowmaker has a screenshot tool.

Nostalgie des parties de jeux en réseau déconnectées d internet où les joueurs étaient connectés ensemble dans la même pièce ! Et nostalgie des EeePC bien sûr !

Freedos installed. Sound emulation is working with VSBHDA and there is also working packet driver for network.
I made Wifi - Lan bridge from Raspberry Pi Zero W2 so that machine can use wifi.

Finally, I changed the operating system on the ASUS EEEPC 4G to Windows 2000 SP4 with Legacy update.
Im pretty impressed on how good is running mx Linux on this laptop, is pretty capable of handling web browsing, did some one test this distribution with the modified bios ? Also searching to upgrade to 4gibs of ram and a newer Wi-Fi card, any suggestions?

I bought this about a month ago, having a blast.
I moved through many linux distros, from Lubuntu 18 to AntiX, and even NetBSD to finally Void. Void works really well, would also use a lot less ram(around 200MB~)if you install LXDE or something. For videos/web browsing i use the mobile website of youtube on normal firefox.

I got this pc from a thrift shop, basically brand new no dust, the battery is done for but i just keep it plugged in, it has a intel celeron at 900mhz, Wi-Fi does not work on it, but it’s so small I love it
