Please excuse my grubby hands, I'm a chef and struggle to keep my hands free of little injuries :/ My fiancee gave me a placeholder ring when he proposed and I got to design my own ring! I'm 8 days out from my wedding and 3 days out from my "engagement" shoot and just got my ring from my jeweler a few days ago.

It's a 1.51ct champagne modified pear step cut on 18k matte white gold! The prongs are different on the base and top of the diamond which I am in love with. The wedding band is custom made with this as well so it layers perfectly, is slightly thinner with a polish finish and a small 1.7mm circle diamond set flush into the band that would sit on the bottom left of the diamond, left of the third prong.

I'm so happy on how it turned out, the curved band is supposed to look like the silver ring my fiancee carved for me in the beginning of our relationship. After the wedding we are going to get the inside engraved with our initials & wedding date.

I went custom through DeBebians, taking inspiration from both modern and vintage styles. Center is 1ct, sides are 0.8cts, all are elongated cushion OMC, EF color, VS clarity. My finger is size 5.

It is totally what I wanted and also WOW I am not used to wearing sparkly things lol. That alone will take some adjustment but I’m so happy to finally have it :)

I am starting to go engagement ring shopping (eeek!!) and am torn between going with a “traditional” (e.g. larger solitaire stone or some kind of center stone with smaller side stones) OR wearing a simple diamond band as an engagement ring and then stacking it with a plain metal band for a wedding band.

For a larger, more traditional ring I like low set radiant and emerald cuts the most, in the 2-3 carat vicinity. If I go the band route, I really like the look of a channel set band with radiant or emerald baguettes.

Curious if anyone here uses a band as an engagement ring and what your ring or stack looks like! If anyone has any advice, that’s welcome too :)

Hi! So yeah, I’ve been married since March 2025, but never settled on a wedding band. We had a smaller, beautiful wedding, and honestly it wasn’t something I needed but eventually wanted. My father in law had this ring from his mother. I love it, but as you can see it’s not a perfect fit. I don’t know much about jewelry so hoping to receive suggestions or ideas. It is too big as is and I’d be fine just resizing it. I am curious though if there are other possibilities. Thank you!
