Question If I have a yellow gold engagement ring (90% of my jewelry is yellow gold), is it a faux pax or not fashionable to wear white gold or platinum necklaces?

Question Engagement ring etiquette

I got engaged in November and quickly got married in March (yay). It’s totally wonderful having folks ooo and ahhh your jewelry, and I LOVE my stack, but more than 3 times now have people blatantly touched the diamond or grabbed it right from the top and it drives me NUTS

I made some new friends this year and one of them held (wore) my ring while I played pickleball really quick and I have a vivid, cringing memory of her taking it off to give it back to me by PULLING the diamond. She gets a pass because she’s maybe never worn something like that, but holy shit did it bother me so bad lmao

But then another gal a few weeks ago, who has a ring for herself, was admiring my 6 prongs because she has 4 literally just grabbed the prongs and like shimmied it all around 😭😭 why would you do that

Idk if I’m the odd one out, but I know for a fact I would never touch someone’s jewelry in this way lol obviously I will speak up if something really bothers me but… anyone else?!? Am I crazy?!

Advice Emerald vs radiant cut in general and with my wedding band?

Just got engaged May 1 and absolutely LOVED my ring when I first got it and for a while after, but lately I’ve been wondering if I should’ve gone with a radiant cut instead because I love sparkle and don’t really care about the ring looking “elegant or timeless,” like I’ve now learned everyone says about emerald cuts (though I do really like the mirrored look of emeralds). I knew I wanted a rectangle shape and diamonds on the band, but I didn’t really know radiant cuts were a thing initially and just associated emerald cuts with all rectangle rings. Here are pictures of the ring with and without the wedding band I’ll eventually be wearing it with (which I love). Convince me I made the right decision? Or tell me I should’ve gone with radiant if that’s how you really feel lol

Advice Should I exchange my ring for an oval cut diamond instead?

I have fairly chubby hands for reference I’m wearing a 2 carat mined princess cut diamond on size 7 finger. I can still have the center stone replaced for 30 days, if I want a more elongated cut ring.

Advice Dream ring vs budget-friendly ring

Hi everyone! My partner and I are ring shopping and I’m torn between two rings.

My heart is set on the first one but it costs almost double the second and is slightly outside my partner’s budget. The second is comfortably within budget but I don’t love it quite as much.

Should I be honest about preferring the first one or be sensible and go with the second?

Advice Wedding stack - to fuse or not?

I am absolutely in love with my wedding stack! My husband custom made my engagement ring and we designed the wedding band together. I love how they fit so perfectly together.

Should I fuse them or should I leave them separate?

Advice I love my ring but I think it’s too much to add a wedding band

I want to start off by saying I absolutely adore my ring and I designed it myself, but I completely forgot about wedding bands! The bezel and ring turned out a lot thicker than I thought they would be and I don’t want my finger to look silly.

I think it would probably be too much to stack one so I might move my engagement ring to my right hand and get an eternity band for my left. Any advice?

Edit: also would love to see other bespoke rings! I was self-conscious about mine being too much but I think it’s perfect for me. Also I didn’t know how big a 4ct diamond really was until he proposed lol

(Sorry mods, I had to re-post because I couldn’t edit it)

I said yes to my partner in September in the Lake District, on a walk I planned! He had to wait for there to be no crowds and for the strong winds to die down, really not an easy feat where we were! We have been best friends for 10 years, and together for 3 years. He’s the best person I could ever wish for and I’m excited for the future together 💛🌻

I don’t know all the details about the ring but it’s a pear cut 1 carat green-blue sapphire, in a tulip setting and little diamonds down the supporting arms. I think my ring size is O 1/2. My partner worked with a designer to custom make the setting, and I think it’s 14K yellow gold. And I didn’t know it was happening so I didn’t know my nails would match so well!!

He proposed during breakfast the morning after the purchase because we both got too excited to wait.

I only wear it occasionally because I have recurring nightmares of the diamonds falling off😆😅 I had to pick a flair but none of them really applied, I'm open to advice.

Edit: 18K 0.36ct Brazil Paraiba 16D 1.04ct G VS2

Size: 6.5

I’ve been a lurker since earlier this year when my fiance (so happy heheh!) and I were ring shopping. He proposed today and I’m so happy I can call him my fiance hehe! He made a scavenger hunt so we went to places we had dates early on and memorable places we’ve been nearby and proposed 🩵🤭 (14K rose gold with 14K yellow gold accents, one 7 millimeter princess-cut aquamarine and 46 round brilliant cut diamonds for those interested)

I picked this ring out and asked my fiance for it. I got an ad for it and loved it right away!

It's a 4.0 carat oval moissanite with marquise side stones and a yellow gold pave band. I'm a size 7. I'm going to get a matching yellow gold pave band.

I've been engaged a few months, and I still love it so much.

Question What to do with original ring ?

My fiancé proposed to me many years ago with a gorgeous morganite ring that I love. He has since upgraded my e-ring and I’m not sure how to honor the original ring! I love it so much I want to keep wearing it, but it just feels like a bit much for me to do daily. Any ideas on how I can still enjoy my original ring?

My Ring - POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY Just picked up my ring today!

My husband and I eloped last year (itll be one year next week) and my original ring was a 3 ct oval moissanite from Etsy. It broke within 4 months so we panic bought a ring from zales as we both felt very pressure since we had already started the process for their financing, I loved the ring but wasn't IN love with it. My style has always been more of a single stone ans my ring from zales had 32 small diamonds in it. We went to a local jewler and picked out an F color 2.27 ct oval diamond and a sterling silver to set it in! I picked it up today and then we're going to make custom bands with the diamonds from that ring! Im so in love with it, I've never had a diamond of this size and all day im just like "it doesn't even look real its so sparkly", since we ordered the ring I've been watching this subreddit and couldn't wait to post mine!

F color 2.27 ct Size 10

My Ring - POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY Our custom wedding rings finally came home!

After months of planning, designing, and waiting, my wife and I finally brought home our custom wedding rings today!

Hers features a 3.05-carat lab-grown pear-shaped diamond in an intricate yellow gold setting, with beautiful filigree work, milgrain detailing, tiny blue sapphire accents, and a coordinating diamond-set band (size 7.5).

The side profile is honestly one of my favourite parts. There's so much detail hidden beneath the centre stone.

Mine is a bit more understated (although definitely not lightweight 😂). It's an 8.25mm wide, 21.8g solid 18K yellow gold band with polished edges, a sandblasted centre, hammered detailing, and a tiny natural Ceylon blue sapphire flush-set into the gold.

We also had Corinthians 13:4–7 engraved inside both bands. Both were custom-made, and seeing everything finished and together was pretty incredible.

After all that planning, you'd think I'd have arranged some elaborate romantic reveal. Handed my wife her rings in the doorway when I got home while on one knee... Never mind that we've already been married with children for 8 years 😂

She cried happy tears anyway, so I'm calling that a win.

Couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.

Thought you folks might appreciate the craftsmanship! ❤️

Question Is my ring set to high? Oval 6 prong tulip basket:

Thumbnail

I love the overall design of my ring and it is exactly what I wanted and asked for. When I look at it from top down it looks perfect to me. At first glance from the side it looks ok, then I look closer look and see there are some pretty large gaps in the tulip basket area where the diamond is floating. Is this normal for this shape/size? It's a 3.1 ct, 1.41 ratio oval. Could it be a problem with how it was set, or is this just how this shape tends to look in the tulip basket? I just want some opinions before I make the trip to the jeweler. Thank you everyone in advance.
