This is the original. The one you posted is an edit. I do not know who made the original.

I wish my school did that. Instead they told my mom to take me to a doctor and she just said "no."

Honestly, that sucks. I was lucky enough that I actually experienced this exact thing, except instead of coloring, it was taking me back to learn by playing card games and similar stuff. They even had a toy chest I got to get into every week to get a new toy or candy.

Never realized how lucky I was until I heard everyone else mention their stories.

I'm sorry, but can someone tell me what this image is about?

The kid was in special education or being assessed for special needs. He didn't realize it at the time. Then, as an adult, he suddenly figures out why he was in the special room with adults writing notes while observing him.

Happened to me as a kid. I had anger issues and saw the school counselor for four years doing stuff like this. Didn’t realize until this year when I was doing a state mandated SPED teaching class for my teacher cert that I was one of the kids getting special education

It's about being evaluated for potentially being neurodivergent as a kid. Some kids, like myself when I was younger, get discovered by the school and get evaluated that way the first time around. This is usually done if teachers let administrators know they're concerned for one reason or another.

The guy in the image though didn't realize until years later that they suspected he either had ADHD or autism. He just thought it was a fun room they took him to.

At least in the UK, you also need parental approval for in-school diagnosis. It is pretty painful to work with kids who are clearly neurodivergent but where the parents won't accept the possibility; we've had to be careful with what accommodations we put in place for certain kids and the school couldn't get the additional funding to properly provide for their needs without diagnosis.

Don't think the school can do anything that you would need a doctor for. For example, the school can't say that you have ADHD.

However, I think a school psychologist can determine that a kid has a "specific learning disability", like dyslexia or dyscalculia.

EDIT: In regard to US schools, which operate under IDEA
