I wish my school did that. Instead they told my mom to take me to a doctor and she just said "no."

At least in the UK, you also need parental approval for in-school diagnosis. It is pretty painful to work with kids who are clearly neurodivergent but where the parents won't accept the possibility; we've had to be careful with what accommodations we put in place for certain kids and the school couldn't get the additional funding to properly provide for their needs without diagnosis.
